Zhou Yanlin paid her no more attention and started to seriously work on the problems.

When Zhou Yanlin returned to the dormitory from the library, the two roommates put on a little act upon seeing him.

He really was defeated by these two oddball roommates.

“Kid, you are just that lucky. Lu Xinxin is quite the aloof one, but she’s so special to you,” Lin Zifeng exclaimed.

“Right now, I just want to study. Stop bringing up all this nonsense; it seems like you guys have too much free time,” Zhou Yanlin said as he put his bag away.

“Just joking around, but actually, there is this thing happening right now. Hey, are you going to take part in the national English speech competition? Registration has started,” Lin Zifeng suddenly remembered the announcement on the school bulletin board.

Zhou Yanlin paused, for he did indeed want to enter. His spoken English was very good, and he wanted to use this competition as an opportunity to improve himself.

“Together?” Zhou Yanlin invited.

“Ah, if I participate, it’ll just be to make you look good. I’ll probably be crushed into dust,” Lin Zifeng could already imagine such a brutal scene.

“Come on, it’s the taking part that counts,” Zhou Yanlin laughed. He really wasn’t interested in winning any prizes; he just wanted to challenge himself and see how difficult the questions were.

The next day, they both went to register. While filling out the form, they saw Lu Xinxin was also signing up. She seemed surprised to see them, and then happily remarked, “What a coincidence.”

After registering, Zhou Yanlin began preparing, and their subject teachers also helped them train.

The preliminary round was scheduled for the next Saturday morning.

Time flew by, and Saturday arrived.

Participants dressed impressively–the boys in suits and the girls in white dresses. It was quite a formal affair.

The competition included elementary and middle school students from all over Jiangcheng, and with dozens of contestants taking part, the scene was quite spectacular.

The elementary group and the middle school group were separate.

Zhou Yanlin’s competition was scheduled for later, and he leaned back in his chair lazily amidst the noisy crowd, suddenly feeling a bit irritable.
