At last, the midterm exams arrived.

Actually, Zhou Yanlin had a pretty good mindset about exams, taking them in stride because his parents were quite cheerful and never put pressure on him.

But at school, aside from studying, he really didn’t have any good distractions.

After they finished, Bai Lan personally drove to pick him up.

“Anything is fine.” Zhou Yanlin looked out the window, responding somewhat absentmindedly.

“Well, then, I’ll decide. I’ve arranged to have dinner with Auntie Shu Pan and her two little treasures,” Bai Lan said cheerfully. Ever since she had met Shu Pan, their get-togethers had become more frequent.

They called it “huddling together for warmth” because both of their husbands were workaholics in charge of big companies.

Usually, they didn’t have much time to mind their wives.

But now that they had each other’s company, neither felt lonely.

Bai Lan felt that fate was a very curious thing; she would never have imagined she’d have such a good relationship with Shu Pan.

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yanlin’s heart leapt, but he kept a straight face.

“What’s wrong? Don’t you want to go?” When Bai Lan saw he was silent, she glanced at him while waiting for the green light.

“No… I’m fine,” Zhou Yanlin replied somewhat awkwardly, his cheeks flushing slightly.

Bai Lan turned back and then started the car.

They had planned to eat at a newly opened mall.

There was a Chinese restaurant there with a great reputation that attracted many customers, so much so that it was often fully booked.

Therefore, Bai Lan had reserved a spot in advance–a private room.

She and Zhou Yanlin had just arrived when Shu Pan and Joy also came.

Bai Lan was puzzled, “Where’s Xiaobao? Why didn’t you bring him?”

Smiling, Shu Pan replied, “His dad is back home, so he’s staying with him.”

“Mr. Gu is willing to leave the office this early today? That’s quite a rarity,” Bai Lan said teasingly.

She had every right to say so, considering her own husband was just the same–so engrossed in work that everything else was forgotten.

“Right, he’s been coming home early the last couple of days. He said something about a big project being completed and even mentioned taking me on a trip,” Shu Pan responded with a smile.

“It seems Mr. Gu knows how to live life,” Bai Lan sighed. Zhou Shengting had been very busy recently, coming home late, making even conversation difficult, never mind traveling.

“Once Mr. Zhou finishes his work, doesn’t he prioritize you above all else?” Shu Pan retorted.

“Let’s not talk about them anymore. They’re both workaholics. We should enjoy ourselves and order some food,” Bai Lan said, picking up the menu.

Then she turned to Shu Joy at her side, “Joy, what do you feel like eating?”

Shu Joy smiled and said, “Auntie, I eat everything. I’m not picky.”

“What a well-behaved child,” Bai Lan exclaimed.

Zhou Yanlin had been seriously listening to her up to that point but looked up at her when he heard this.

Not being picky is good; that makes her easy to please.

Looking at her smiling face, with the corners of her lips slightly raised and her cheeks revealing two adorable dimples.
