Chapter 755: Chapter 752: Who Says No?
With a target set, the entire command center buzzed into action, with phones ringing one after another and computer monitors flickering rapidly, all the information pointing towards the aviation industry throughout Los Angeles.
Whether it be a regular airport, helicopters, or seaplanes that no one had thought of.
If the earlier part of the show was a confrontation between the criminals and the Hunter Team, then since Bi Fang pocketed a hole-in-one and left a hero’s name on the wall, everyone’s blood pressure was at its peak.
They were all holding their breath.
The prestige, must be regained!
“We don’t have enough field agents, we need more manpower!”
“But we only have thirty-five people, what do we do?”
“The command center will pull another twenty, leave ten technicians to monitor and report the situation, the rest of you, follow me tomorrow!”
Robert propped his hands on the desk, surveyed everyone from his vantage point, “Let’s complete this last piece of the puzzle!”
…
A black SUV parked behind a small villa-like bank.
Yao Jun peeked out from the passenger side, “Is this the place?”
Bi Fang glanced at the nearby street sign and doorplate, nodding without turning off the vehicle’s engine. He grabbed a backpack from behind and asked, “Ready?”
Truth be told, it was the first time Bi Fang and Yao Jun had entered a bank in so many days.
In a place like a bank, filled with surveillance, withdrawing $250,000 in Ugly Gold would be impossible to do without notice, so they had to make it fast, leaving before the Hunters could react.
“Hold on.” Yao Jun took several deep breaths, calming his nerves before nodding, “Ready, let’s go!”
“Go!”
Throwing open the car door, they dashed into the bank, with the cameraman lugging his camera in hot pursuit behind them.
Upon storming into the bank, it seemed as though the area had been cleared just for them, the only person present being the teller at the counter, without a doubt, everything arranged by the show’s team.
“Hello, I am Bi Fang, he is Yao Jun, we’re here to make a withdrawal.”
“At the corner, teller number 126.”
The teller, without asking anything, smiled and pushed out a key.
“The corner, teller number 126, okay, thank you.”
They took the key, rushed to the corner and pushed open the door, seeing before them a conspicuously large cabinet, each marked with a number.
“Number 126… 126, found it, here!”
Yao Jun pointed to one of the cabinets, took the key Bi Fang passed to him, and opened the locker.
Together they pulled out the cabinet, like extracting a steamer of freshly cooked rice.
“Heavy.” Yao Jun, holding the cabinet, placed it on a nearby table and exclaimed upon seeing the contents, “Wow, all of them are twenty-dollar bills!”
Bi Fang’s mouth twitched a bit; $250,000, all in twenties, was the equivalent of 125 stacks of RMB 10,000!
Although a twenty-dollar bill is much smaller than a hundred yuan note, 125 stacks is no small amount – lined up, it would be over a meter long.
Having spent days using only tens and hundreds of dollars, the sudden sight of so much money gave the two a fleeting illusion of striking it rich.
“Hurry up and pack, keep the bag open!”
Stuffing the bag into Yao Jun’s arms, they quickly started ‘earning’ the money.
Feeling the backpack gradually fill, Yao Jun laughed, “I feel like we’re robbing a bank now.”
“Let’s go!”
With the backpack stuffed, the cabinet returned to its place, Bi Fang handed back the key and casually extended a stack of bills, making a two-finger salute while stepping back, “Thank you, may you have a wonderful day just like us.”
The teller clasped hands in front of her and bowed slightly, “Borrowing your good luck words.”
…
“Teresa, we’ve found them! At Fiskofi Avenue, Federal Credit Union! They withdrew $250,000 in Ugly Gold!”
Teresa exclaimed, “Fiskofi Avenue, Federal Credit Union! They took out $200,000!”
“Give me the address, all the nearby airports, water surfaces, and helicopter pads!”
“One moment…”
“Did we get their license plate on camera?”
“Tracking in progress, found it, they’re heading… wait, they’re going towards downtown!”
“Downtown? Which downtown?”
“Downtown Los Angeles, the one with the Federal Bank Building!”
“Is there an airport there?”
“No, sir, doesn’t seem like it, but many of the buildings there have helipads, are they planning to escape via helicopter?”
In satellite city centers, there might be airports, but definitely not in downtown Los Angeles!
The closest airport to downtown Los Angeles is the Los Angeles International Airport, and even that is located 24 kilometers southwest of downtown!
“They’re really going to take the helicopter? But what’s with that rented seaplane?”
“Damn it, it might be a coincidence, don’t worry about it too much. Catch up to them, deploy the helicopter! All the drones, take off too!”
…
“I wonder if that seaplane is of any use.”
Bi Fang drove the car, swerving past one vehicle after another like a streak of black lightning.
“I’m sure they’ve been completely thrown off course!”
Yao Jun rolled down his window to the bottom and burst into laughter.
At this point, whether to switch cars or not doesn’t matter; everyone is racing against time to reach their destinations.
Probably none of the Hunter Team would guess that the plane chosen by Bi Fang was neither the commercial planes at the airport nor the helicopters on top of the skyscrapers, nor was it the seaplane temporarily rented on the Los Angeles River!
Los Angeles is prone to earthquakes, so the number of skyscrapers here is far fewer than in some ordinary metropolitan areas, and they are consequently very scattered. If you go to one, it will be very difficult to reach another one in a short time.
The real target of Bi Fang and Yao Jun was Los Angeles’s second tallest building, Eihong Tower!
Through the car window, looking at the murky skyline of Los Angeles.
Bi Fang’s vision was excellent, and he clearly saw the small black dots flying in the distant sky. Were they the hunters?
The car slowed down.
The helicopter did not come any closer and, after a while, stopped at the tallest building in Los Angeles, the Federal Bank Building, 310 meters high.
“They are coming this way!”
“Is it really the Federal Bank Building?”
“No, they stopped, they’ve gone into Eihong Tower!”
“Eihong Tower? Does Eihong Tower have a helipad?”
“No, it seems like it doesn’t; you can’t land a helicopter up there!”
“Damn it, what on earth are they up to!?”
“Wait… Boss, I think I see…” Philips lowered his binoculars, stunned, as Robert’s outcry came through the headset from his location still at the Los Angeles River.
“What do you see! Respond, Sergeant!”
“A glider, I see a glider!” Philips stood on top of the Federal Bank Building, leaping up and waving his arms, “Damn it, they’re planning to leave on a glider!”
Who says a glider isn’t a plane?
A few hundred meters away, a tiny shadow dropped from the top of Eihong Tower like a bird free of constraints. It plummeted straight down, then miraculously took flight at a certain moment, rushing toward the expansive skyline.
“It’s over.”
The drone footage transmitted to the phone, and Robert took off his headset.
As long as the other party boarded the “plane,” this pursuit was over, even if they could use a helicopter to force it to land.
On the highway, all the cars rolled down their windows and stopped, leaning out to watch the glider in the sky.
Newspapers fluttered in the wind, sticking to trash cans. A passerby bent down to pick one up but found everyone around him looking up.
On the avenue in front of Eihong Tower, Sean, who had been notified to come, saw the glider successfully take off from high above and let out an exhilarated shout, removing his cap and waving it, laughing loudly.
“Friends, you’ve done it! Friends!”
The people nearby moved away from this homeless man, watching him shout as if he was out of his mind. But then, to their surprise, they discovered that the glider wasn’t leaving but circling in the sky, seemingly noticing the homeless man.
“Sean, catch!”
The faint voice spread from high above, followed by a small bag being thrown down.
Sean didn’t understand, rushed forward to catch it but missed, as the bag hit the ground, opening partially.
The bystanders’ breathing hitched, what did they see?
Money!
It was definitely a bag of money!
At least thirty thousand dollars!
Sean broke into a sweat, unsure of what to do, as he saw the wolf-like stares of those around him.
“Sorry, the bag belongs to this gentleman.”
A police officer stepped in front of Sean, sticking out his pronounced waist pack to ward off the onlookers, then raised his cap and gave Sean a slight smile.
“You must be Mr. Sean. I just got a call that someone might try to rob a moneybag belonging to a Mr. Sean in front of Eihong Tower. At first, I thought it was a prank.”
The officer chuckled. He had indeed thought it was a prank until the undercover tracking TV crew appeared and informed them of everything.
There must be cameras pointed at him now. The policeman glanced around subtly as he added, “Oh right, he left a message.”
“What message?” Sean, who was picking up money, looked puzzled.
The officer cleared his throat and mimicked the tone:
“Thank you for your help, and also, I wish you a successful comeback.”
