Chapter 932: Chapter 928: The Chase Chapter 932: Chapter 928: The Chase The trigger was pulled, the barrel jumped, and gunfire erupted.
Faint white moonlight illuminated with a bright orange flame.
“FUCK!”
Ved clenched his eyes shut and ground his back teeth to bits.
Palmer and the guide screamed in terror, convinced the other party was about to kill them to ensure their own survival.
Metal collided, sparking a huge burst of sparks.
Ved felt only a scorching sensation streaking across his wrist, stinging his skin, followed suddenly by his hands loosening.
In that shot, both the front and back windows of the off-road pickup were pierced, forming white spider webs centered around the holes.
The crossbar above the cabin was broken in half, releasing the binds that held Ved.
As the one being rescued, Ved couldn’t help but flip the bird behind him.
Cheers of elation followed from behind.
“WOWOWO!”
“Every time I see Sisko’s shooting, I’m witnessing a miracle.”
“Nice shooting!”
“From the look on Ved’s face, I bet he definitely pissed himself!”
Palmer and the guide gaped, unable to comprehend their way of thinking, yet astounded by the phenomenal marksmanship.
In the rough wilderness, while in pursuit, to be able to shoot and break the rope that bound their comrade from the front vehicle.
The distance between them was at least a hundred meters!
Truly a bunch of reckless thugs!
Palmer was the first to snap out of his daze and cried out for help, “Ved, Ved, help us get loose too!”
With a loud bang,
glass shattered and fragments flew.
A pair of hands suddenly broke through the spiderweb-like broken window, reaching out from the rear window.
Startled, Palmer yelled, wishing to curl into a ball but restrained by the ropes on his limbs, could only shout helplessly, writhing like a worm.
Ved instinctively closed his eyes to avoid the sharp glass shards, but the next second his soul nearly fled his body.
Bi Fang quickly clasped Ved’s neck without any hindrance, fixing the fleeing Ved back to his original position.
Under the cold moonlight, Bi Fang’s arms shone with a luster nearly like marble, but when Ved tried to break free, he found not even marble was this hard!
Although they had fought once before, they had never truly grappled, and Ved was shocked to find that the other’s strength was no less than his own!
How was that possible?
He was a full head taller than his opponent and exceeded him by nearly a hundred pounds, yet their strength could be so evenly matched?
This was like a Tyrannosaurus disguised in human skin.
Struggling, Bi Fang’s arms still succeeded in wrapping around Ved’s neck and locked both hands together.
It was over, he was in a naked choke!
Ved’s heart sank.
If the other person was just ordinary, he might have had a chance to break free, but given the strength shown by the opponent now, was it possible?
No matter how strong a person was, against a professional Naked Choke, they couldn’t last more than ten seconds.
This was the brain deprived of oxygen, an unsolvable situation!
Just as Ved thought he was going to be choked to death, an overwhelming force exploded from his neck, he even doubted if his neck was about to be torn apart.
The already shattered window, after enduring bullets, fists, and the battering from Ved’s upper body, was almost thoroughly ruined, strewn with broken glass everywhere.
Ved’s shoulders and back throbbed with pain. It might have been from a knock, or more likely, from shards of glass left in the frame that had cut his skin, probably the latter since he could smell the scent of blood in the air.
Sisko, from behind, lifted his head off the gunstock when he saw this.
He sensed something eerie.
When Bi Fang had Ved in a naked choke just moments before, Sisko had wanted to shoot and break the assailant’s arm. However, it was as if the other had expected it, abandoning the choke on the spot and using brute force to drag Ved into the vehicle.
With the view obstructed, naturally, he couldn’t just fire at will.
Chaman exclaimed, “Damn it, Ved is three hundred pounds! And yet that kid dragged him in!”
The others hadn’t noticed anything odd about Sisko, simply thinking he hadn’t had time to aim properly, hence the missed shot.
But they were just as astonished by the sheer brute strength of Bi Fang, who could haul a three-hundred-pound goliath and smash him through the glass into the car so forcefully.
Grace looked at Sisko: “Sisko, is there anything we can do?”
Sisko shook his head straightforwardly, “No, not unless we don’t care about Ved’s life.”
No matter how strong Ved was, he was still flesh and blood. Facing the possibility of the car flipping or exploding, there was a great chance he would perish.
That was precisely why the assailant pulled Ved into the car with him.
“It’s not impossible, though,” Guvas’s sudden remark broke the tension in the car, “after all, that’s thirty million dollars! Five million for each of us…”
Sisko, Chaman, and Grace all looked at him in disbelief.
Guvas touched his nose awkwardly and lowered his head, “Sorry, I was just… just joking.”
“I don’t care if you’re serious or joking, if you say something like that again, don’t blame me for being rude!” Sisko warned sternly.
Everyone present had been through professional military units, not some motley crew of street thugs ready to abandon a comrade for a meager profit.
Living on the knife-edge, the last thing they needed was an unreliable ally.
This time it was Ved who was unlucky. But what about next time?
Money could be earned, but you had to be alive to spend it.
Meanwhile, the car was still speeding forward.
The steering wheel and the gas pedal were tied down, making the pickup drive like a maddened rhino charging straight ahead across the wilderness.
The roar of the powerful engine carried far and wide, scattering countless animals hidden in the grasses.
Several ground squirrels scurried into their burrows, trembling together in a cluster.
As the tires rolled over, the entire burrow shook several times, and dirt trickled down.
Bi Fang exerted all his strength to strangle Ved’s neck, the veins on his temples stood out, and his arm muscles bulged while Ved’s face turned even uglier, swollen up like a liver, his forehead’s veins as thick as pythons, writhing about.
After merely seven seconds, Ved could no longer resist, his eyes rolled back, and he passed out.
Suddenly releasing his grip, Bi Fang leaned back in his seat, gasping for air, kicking Ved away with his foot.
With Ved crammed into the vehicle, space became even tighter.
This off-road pickup was a five-seater with a semi-cabin; the front had the driver and passenger seats, followed by a long bench seat, and finally a half-open cargo area.
Cheetah was curled up in the passenger seat, Cecil was unconscious on the long seat, but now he was shoved under it by Bi Fang.
It was an extremely dangerous situation, as no one knew when this big fellow would wake up.
But Bi Fang didn’t have a better solution. Leaving Cecil on the plains, he would surely not survive till the next day.
The hyenas would track him down by the scent of blood and devour him.
After re-securing Ved, Bi Fang craned his neck towards the front window.
There was a sharpshooter in one of the two pursuing vehicles; now, he couldn’t freely show himself.
The distance between the three cars was closing; what was once a hundred meters was now less than fifty.
But Bi Fang was also getting closer to the forest…
