Chapter 23: Evidence

Doctor Qu entered the ward. The ward door was already open, and many patients had gathered at the door to watch the commotion. When he saw the patient in bed 08 being beaten, he was filled with questions.

When Luo Xiao saw Doctor Qu, he forgot about the awkwardness from before and reached out to Doctor Qu for help. “Doctor Qu, help!”

Doctor Qu was speechless. It seemed like he had really been beaten up badly—he was so desperate—he was grasping at straws for help.

Doctor Qu walked into the ward and said politely to the woman, “Madam, this is a hospital. The patient needs to rest.”

The woman raised her hand, and the bodyguards stopped.

The woman took off her sunglasses and looked at the doctor. “You’re a doctor? Good. Then you can treat him after I am done beating him up.” The woman said with a smile, not caring about Luo Xiao’s life at all.

Luo Xiao broke down and roared, “He Yuhong, are you crazy?”

He Yuhong narrowed her eyes—turned around—and walked up to Luo Xiao. “Luo Xiao, since you don’t understand the human language, I’ll tell you again. If you dare to touch that young lady from the Qu family again, I’ll send you to jail!”

Luo Xiao looked at He Yuhong and asked in bewilderment, “Who is she to you?”

Doctor Qu realized that this lady was avenging the young lady just now.

He Yuhong ignored Luo Xiao. Instead, she looked at Doctor Qu and smiled. “Doctor, where is the young lady from the Qu family? How is she now?”

“She was injected with a small amount of anesthetic. She’s awake now and has suffered some shock,” Doctor Qu replied. “The hospital is also responsible for what happened, so we’ll call the police for a thorough investigation.”

“You can’t call the police!” When Qu Zhisheng heard that, he quickly stood up from the corner and shouted at the doctor, “This is our family matter. Why are you calling the police? Where’s Qu Ling’er? You tell her to come over, Even she didn’t call the police. What right do you have to interfere?”

Doctor Qu looked at Qu Zhisheng and thought of poor Qu Ling’er. His heart ached even more. How could this young lady have such a father?

“Qu Ling’er. Hurry up and get her here!” Qu Zhisheng continued to shout.

“Why are you shouting? Miss Qu is here!” Zhang Ran’s voice came from outside the ward.

Then, she helped Qu Ling’er to the door of the ward.

Qu Ling’er’s legs were still a little weak, but she could walk. However, Zhang Ran was worried and insisted on assisting her. She came to put an end to things with Qu Zhisheng—she did not care if she made a big fuss or embarrassed herself. In fact, she felt that this would be better! She walked into the ward with a calm expression; but her eyes were filled with unprecedented determination.

“Qu Ling’er!” As soon as Qu Zhisheng saw Qu Ling’er, he immediately rushed over. But before he could get close, he was stopped by Doctor Qu.

When Zhang Ran saw Qu Zhisheng for what he was, her heart ached for Qu Ling’er. She knew that this was her biological father, but for those who did not know better would think that he was an enemy! His thunderous face looked like he wanted to devour someone!

Qu Zhisheng gritted his teeth and said, “Qu Ling’er, tell them if I’m your father or not! What? You want to call the police on me?”

Qu Ling’er looked at Qu Zhisheng—held back her sadness—and said, “Ask Qu Xinru to bring the household register here immediately.”

“What?” Qu Zhisheng asked with a dark expression.

Qu Ling’er’s eyes were cold. “I want to transfer my household register to campus.”

“No!” Qu Zhisheng directly refused. “Do you think you can transfer the household register just because you want to? I’m your father. You have to listen to me!”

Qu Zhisheng knew very well that If he agreed to Qu Ling’er’s transfer, he would no longer be able to control her.

Qu Ling’er lowered her head and took out her cell phone. “Fine. Then I’ll call the police now.”

“Qu Ling’er! How dare you threaten me?” Qu Zhisheng’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Qu Ling’er raised her cell phone and smiled at Qu Zhisheng. “That’s right, it’s a threat. Either you give me the household register today, or you can stay in the police station for a few days. Don’t think that I don’t have evidence—it’s not just today; I also have video evidence of what happened at the Qinglan clubhouse the last time.”

“Consider it carefully. Or should I tell everyone what happened?” Qu Ling’er looked straight at Qu Zhisheng.

Qu Zhisheng turned to look at Luo Xiao, who was cowering in the corner. Of course, he could not offer Qu Ling’er to Luo Xiao without any preparation—he had hidden a DV1 camcorder in the private room in advance, wanting to take a video of it. If Luo Xiao did not keep his end of the deal, he could use the video to threaten Luo Xiao. However, the DV camcorder did not capture anything. He thought that he had been careless and forgot to insert the memory card. Now, it seemed that Qu Ling’er had taken it. If Qu Ling’er revealed this matter, Luo Xiao would definitely fly into a rage.
