The man, hooked up to an intravenous drip, kept glancing down at the time on his mobile phone every so often. As he watched the seconds tick by without anyone returning, the irritation on his strikingly handsome face, reminiscent of Apollo, grew intense.

“Damn it, why isn’t she back yet?” Li Beijue tapped his mobile phone, watching another five minutes pass. The doorway remained quiet without a hint of movement.

The frustration on his face deepened.

He merely asked her to make a simple bowl of Tomato Egg Noodles. Why hadn’t she returned after half an hour? Not only that, she didn’t even send a message or make a phone call.

He completely ignored the fact that the reason Chi Enen hadn’t returned, sent a message, or called might be because half an hour was hardly enough time to warrant doing so.

Li Beijue irritably set his phone down.

But just a few minutes later, he picked it up again, glanced at it, and his thin lips pressed into a straight line as he prepared to call Chi Enen.

Right at this moment.

The room door suddenly opened.

“Miss Chi, watch out.”

A man’s voice came from the doorway.

Li Beijue’s eyebrows knitted tightly, and he immediately yanked out the needle from the back of his hand and sat up.

He saw Chi Enen enter first, followed by a man in a chef’s uniform. The chef was carrying a tray with a steaming bowl of Tomato Egg Noodles on it.

So, it turned out the man was just helping to bring the food over.

The tension in Li Beijue’s furrowed eyebrows instantly dissipated.

Although the Big Chef didn’t understand what was going on, he could feel a cold shiver run down his spine. He quickly placed the bowl of Tomato Egg Noodles down.

He spoke respectfully, “Young master, Miss Chi, I’ll take my leave now. If you need anything, please call for me.”

Li Beijue glanced at the steaming bowl of Tomato Egg Noodles in front of him, and his mood seemed to improve. He gave the chef a sweeping look. “Close the door on your way out.”

“Yes, young master.”

The Big Chef hurriedly left, thoughtfully closing the door behind him.

Chi Enen noticed that he had already removed the intravenous needle and glared at him disapprovingly. “Li Beijue, you haven’t even finished the liquid in the bottle. Why did you pull out the needle?”

With chopsticks already in hand and starting to eat, Li Beijue replied casually, “It’s just glucose and anti-inflammatory medication. I already applied the anti-inflammatory medicine to my back. It’s fine if I don’t finish it.”

“But…”

Li Beijue domineeringly pulled her over. “No buts, Chi Enen. Eat noodles with me!”

From his expression, it was clear he had no interest in continuing the IV. Chi Enen could do nothing to change his mind and ended up sitting with him to eat the noodles.

To make up for her earlier mistake of hanging up the call, this time Chi Enen stayed on the line with him for more than an hour, talking until his mobile phone was nearly out of battery before letting him end the video call.

Once that was done, she also felt drained. She climbed into bed, closed her eyes, and fell asleep in no time.
