The nurse honestly felt that her presence there was unnecessary. Awkwardly, she said to Chi Enen, “Why don’t you, Miss, just stay here and accompany your husband?”

The words “your husband” thoroughly pleased Li Beijue.

His thin lips curved into a smirk as he scooped up Chi Enen and placed her on the bed. Holding her firmly in place, he stretched his hand out like an emperor toward the nurse. “Hang it up.”

Flustered by his commanding presence, the nurse quickly set down the tray and helped him hook up the drip.

Chi Enen felt extremely uncomfortable being pinned under him. She shifted slightly and whispered, “Li Beijue, you…”

“If you want me to burst a blood vessel, then keep moving!” he threatened domineeringly.

Chi Enen froze, unsure whether to move or stay still. In the end, she chose not to move, allowing herself to be held in his arms like a little lamb enveloped by a lion.

The nurse finally inserted the needle into his blood vessel, wiped away a bead of sweat, hung up the drip, and promptly said, “The drip is set up, Miss. Please keep an eye on it. When it’s finished, call me–I’ll come take out the needle.”

“…Okay.” Chi Enen answered calmly, struggling to suppress the heat rising in her face.

“Then I’ll leave you two alone now.”

After speaking, the nurse left with the tray.

Before exiting, she thoughtfully closed the door behind her.

When the ward was finally left with just the two of them, Chi Enen began to wriggle. “Li Beijue, stop fooling around. Let me get up.”

The sweet, natural fragrance from her body seemed to seep into every pore of his being, igniting a fire within him that their earlier kiss had barely begun to extinguish. Yet, she seemed entirely oblivious to this fact, continuing to fidget and squirm incessantly.

Li Beijue could feel himself hardening below.

Every fiber of his being was coiled tight, ready to explode!

His falcon-like eyes darkened, his strong arms locked tightly around her slender waist, trapping her against his chest. His eyes narrowed dangerously as he issued a sinister warning: “If you move again, I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to control myself. If you’re curious to find out what it’s like to hook up a drip while doing what we both want, I’d be more than happy to oblige!”

A drip… and doing that, at the same time…

Chi Enen’s mind went blank, and in an instant, her face was on fire. Even her ears burned with embarrassment.

Her entire body stiffened.

She knew exactly what kind of man Li Beijue was. In matters like this, he didn’t bluff — he absolutely meant what he said! And now, he was still running a fever. If she let him have his way and his condition worsened, what then?

Gradually, she softened her demeanor and spoke in resignation, “I won’t move anymore. Huo Yi said you haven’t rested all day. Just get some sleep, please.”

Li Beijue’s body was burning–entirely because of her! Gritting his teeth, he glared at the “innocent” little lady in his arms, forcing out his words with great effort through clenched teeth: “Do you think I can sleep under these circumstances?”

Could she not feel the changes in his body?!

Chi Enen hadn’t expected him to address it so bluntly. Her bright eyes darted away, avoiding his intense, predatory gaze altogether.

There was something hard pressing against her thigh. She wasn’t an idiot–she knew exactly what it was. But for his health, this couldn’t happen–not now.

Chi Enen took a deep breath and suddenly thought of an idea. “Li Beijue, how about I tell you a story?”

“A fairy-tale again?” His tone was laced with undisguised disdain.

Chi Enen wanted to refuse this ingrate altogether, but the heat pressing against her thigh forced her to relent. “What do you want to hear?”

Li Beijue’s falcon-like eyes narrowed. What he wanted to hear was her panting and calling his name!

If she insisted on telling a story…
