Chapter 40: Tit for Tat

“You pretended to be so well-behaved earlier, but now you expose your true colours? Su Wanwan, you truly are two-faced!”

Su Yanyan hated this trait of Su Wanwan’s the most, but for some reason, Su Xueqin seemed to like it. Whenever Su Yanyan saw Su Wanwan acting coquettishly in front of Su Xueqin, she felt like vomiting!

Today was the worst. Old Master Xing had obviously come all the way here to give her an explanation, but he ended up giving Su Wanwan one of their properties as compensation because he had to give face to Su Xueqin.

Su Wanwan couldn’t be bothered with her, so she got up to leave.

“Do you know why our engagement banquet was changed to a wedding banquet instead?” Su Yanyan reached out to stop Su Wanwan, a triumphant smile on her face. “It’s because I am pregnant with Xing Yuyun’s child.”

“What does that have to do with me?” Su Wanwan responded blankly.

Su Yanyan was very annoyed by Su Wanwan’s nonchalance.

“Su Wanwan, you have no right to be arrogant! You were abandoned by Xing Yuyun even though the both of you were engaged for more than two years! Huo Jingshen has simply picked up another man’s leftovers, and he really is generous to be marrying a woman that his cousin brother had his share of fun with. Do the elders of the Huo family know about it?”

Su Wanwan slapped Su Yanyan across her face and sneered, “Your mouth is so filthy! Did you forget to brush your teeth today?”

Su Yanyan gritted her teeth angrily and tried to fight back, but Su Wanwan grabbed Su Yanyan’s wrist as soon as she lifted her arm.

How could a pampered young lady possibly win against someone who had been fighting ever since she was young?

Su Yanyan was in so much pain that tears were running down her cheeks. She could only struggle as she snarled, “I already investigated him! That Huo Jingshen is already thirty this year, and he’s just playing around with you. Do you really think that he wants to get married to you? The Huo family did not even come here to propose marriage! He is just a rich old man who is raising you like a pet he can fool around with! Do you really think he married you because he loves you? Don’t be a fool!”

“Huo Jingshen may or may not love me, but I know for a fact that Xing Yuyun does not love you at all,” Su Wanwan said icily, and Su Yanyan flinched.

Su Wanwan smirked and continued, “Oh, and don’t think Old Master Xing beat Xing Yuyun up because of you – it was purely to maintain his reputation. You won’t get to sit back and enjoy a lavish lifestyle even if you marry Xing Yuyun, because he is the kind of scumbag that you will never be able to control. If he could sleep with you, then he can sleep with other girls too. When some third party, fourth party, fifth party or even sixth party comes knocking at your door because they are pregnant with his children, do you think Xing Yuyun will take responsibility for it?”

When Su Wanwan entered the living room on the first floor, she heard the sound of things breaking above her.

“What is going on?” Jiang Yi stood up in surprise.

Su Wanwan smiled and said serenely, “It’s okay, there’s just a disgusting female cockroach upstairs. Grandpa, I won’t be staying for dinner. I will go back home first.”

After leaving the Su family villa, Su Wanwan did not call for a taxi. Instead, she simply walked along the roadside as she headed out of the area. Perhaps it was because of her quiet surroundings, but Su Wanwan suddenly thought about what Su Yanyan had said earlier.

A rich old man who was raising her like a pet? Was it true?

At that moment, her phone suddenly rang. Su Wanwan glanced at the caller ID and sighed.

A phone call from Y Country.

How could there be such a coincidence? She had just been thinking about Huo Jingshen, and then she received a call from him.

Su Wanwan finally answered the call. “Hello?”

“Why did you take so long to pick up the phone?” The man’s deep voice sounded extremely alluring.

In fact, Mo Weiyi had once told her that his voice was so sexy that a woman could get pregnant just by listening to him.

There was a long silence, before the man on the other end of the line said curtly, “Then we can just end the call now.”

Unexpectedly, Huo Jingshen ended the call.

Su Wanwan was dumbfounded. Was the old man angry?

In the next few days, everything went smoothly for Su Wanwan.

She enrolled in driving school and attended driving classes during the day, and would watch movies in the villa at night. Sometimes, she would head out to eat or go shopping with Mo Weiyi.

The Su family members were all busy preparing for Su Yanyan’s wedding, so none of them came to bother her anymore.

Su Wanwan was indeed living a very peaceful life.

On Saturday night, she received a WeChat message from her friend in Luo City saying that her luggage would be arriving in China the next day, and that she needed to personally pick it up at the airport.
