Chapter 377: Chapter 320 The Girl’s Embarrassment
An exhilarating, labyrinthine adventure had finally come to an end.
Consciousness returned from the Void Realm, and her soul revived within the girl’s body. Sonia opened her eyes and looked around the small Meditation Room, suddenly feeling a strange sense of familiarity.
It was as if the last time she returned to reality was a tale from a previous life.
Of course, that was a more poetic way to put it. If Sonia had to describe it, she felt as if she had taken a long nap. Upon waking up, she saw the pale blue of the Heavenly Curtain and couldn’t tell if it was morning or evening; the world seemed as ambiguous as a dream.
However, once Sonia stepped out of the Meditation Building and saw the brilliance of three shining stars dancing in the dust, and the immaculate golden notes singing softly by her ear, her Void Realm syndrome was completely cured.
Void Realm syndrome, a condition that should only occur in Holy Sanctuary Mages, arises when a Mage spends more time in the Void Realm than in reality, causing their perception of ‘reality’ and ‘illusion’ to invert. Over time, this can lead to confusion between the real world and the Void Realm, with severe cases leading to mistaking real people for monsters to be defeated.
The treatment was quite simple: just reduce the time spent in the Void Realm.
That is why universities build Meditation Buildings. Firstly, the Meditation Buildings greatly benefit Mages in their Exploration of the Void Realm. Secondly, they can monitor the online time of Mages in the Void Realm through the facilities. When it is noticed that a Mage’s Void Realm time is nearing the addiction danger threshold, they must take compulsory measures to force them out on blind dates or to attend parties–proving the harsh reality is far crueller than the Void Realm.
For minor symptoms like Sonia’s, simply basking in the sunshine was enough.
In fact, this Exploration of the Void Realm was no longer than the previous days, yet the experience in the cabin of memory loss was like a dollop of cream forcefully stuffed into Sonia’s simple slice-of-life bread. Though the slice remained a slice, the added cream meant it now showed tendencies of becoming a sandwich.
Now recalling what happened in the cabin felt like a vivid yet distant dream, so ethereal it was as if it could burst upon touch.
Groggily, Sonia returned to her dormitory. As she opened the door, she collided with Ingrid, who was getting ready for a morning run. Not being attentive for a moment, she not only lost the collision with the swordsmanship girl but was also knocked to the ground.
This was no Void Realm; concrete hurts when you take a hit.
Seeing the Claw Club president rubbing her sore spot, Ingrid couldn’t help but laugh as she extended a hand to help her up, “Is this the first time I’ve managed to injure you?”
Sonia’s combat Talent was of course remarkable, but what truly amazed people was her Heartbeat akin to a piercing insight into the flow of all things. Whether she saw them or not, she would inevitably detect any incoming attack aimed at her. Unless overwhelmed by speed, strength, or any other factor beyond her ability to dodge or defend in time, she could use her supreme Insight and reaction to dismantle any ambush efforts.
After so many bouts with Sonia, Ingrid didn’t dare mention victory, and even damaging her was out of the question.
Apart from combat, Sonia was also always on high alert. Although her relationship with her roommates had improved lately, a month ago they were at war, with fire and water not mixing. Lois might not stoop to spiking carpets or soaking clothes–although she did try last semester, only to have Sonia blow it up into a campus-wide embarrassment. Plus, with Sonia’s grades being competition-grade scholarship level, Sword Flower University came down hard on Lois. But she hadn’t stopped scheming against Sonia in the shadows, seizing any opportunity to make the Village Girl embarrass herself.
Theoretically, with her financial, resource, and social advantages, Lois should have been able to pummel Sonia and show the Village Girl who the boss of the dormitory was.
But in the end, it was Sonia who consistently came out on top, leaving Lois to hide in the bathrooms, anonymously asking for advice online, only to be shamed a second time by replies from the “Claw Club president.”
Back then, Sonia hadn’t revealed any swordsmanship Talent; she was merely an ordinary problem-solving Village Girl, who managed to repeatedly leverage the rules to dominate the local natives with her almost miraculous automatic Insight.
Ingrid had never seen Sonia so hazy and confused, resembling Adelle today.
Sonia seemed not to hear Ingrid’s jest, returning to her seat to sit down. She neither read books nor browsed forums but just propped up her legs and stared blankly at the wall, which was plastered with a Dedarose poster.
By this time, Lois had already gotten up to read, and noting Sonia’s return without a greeting, she merely logged it silently, deciding not to greet the Village Girl the next time she came back to the dorm.
It wasn’t long before the Sword Maiden, Rose-headed Adelle’s alarm clock went off. She got out of bed yawning, washed her face, brushed her teeth, took a hot shower to wake up, then returned to her seat to blow-dry her hair, carried out her daily skincare, and applied the simplest makeup.
Apart from Ingrid, Adelle spent the least effort on her makeup in the dormitory. However, she was the type with enough natural assets to afford carelessness, indulging in fine food, binge-watching TV shows overnight, lying in bed without exercising, only exerting her muscles for using the toilet and still managing to maintain a rich and beautiful state, her skin as tender as vanilla ice cream.
It was only when compared with Sonia and Lois that Adelle seemed unremarkable. If she were to be placed anywhere in the Water Magic Department of Sword Flower… well, she’d still be unremarkable, for the Water Magic Department of Sword Flower University was famously full of beauties.
