Chapter 404: Chapter 338: So Everything They Said Was True
“I really can’t heal living people,” Harvey hurriedly blocked Ash, as Liss quickly hid behind Harvey, “Okay, if, just if you’re telling the truth, and you suddenly have luck with women… then what do you want to study?”
“I want to know why I have luck with women.”
“And then?”
“And then?” Ash was startled, “To… keep it up, and strive to find a stepmother for Liss as soon as possible?”
“That’s right.” Harvey spread his hands, “You don’t need to know why, you just need to enjoy this hard-earned happiness. Anyway, once we leave Vatican Mura, you should get rid of the poison…”
“Harvey, your Alice isn’t nearby, I’d advise you to think about your own ass before you speak.”
After the commotion settled, the three sat down again, and Harvey said, “Let’s get straight to the next issue–Ash, you said recently that Hanna seems to like hitting you?”
Although the word “hit” felt odd, Ash still nodded, “That’s right.”
Harvey said, “I think this might be a ‘Suggestion’.”
“Suggestion of what?”
“Suggestion of discontent. What have you done these past few days?”
“I haven’t done anything,” Ash scratched his head, “All I do every day is play games and eat, constantly improving my command abilities. If I have some free time, I practice gun technique with Liss and Banjee – I really haven’t done anything.”
Liss also nodded along, joining Ash in practicing gun technique with the Housekeeper had been her idea. After all, Ash had previously promised her and then quickly forgot, but Liss hadn’t forgotten.
“That’s exactly it,” said Harvey, “It’s because you haven’t done anything.”
“What do you mean?”
“Although Hanna says she doesn’t demand performance from you, she is actually expecting you to take the initiative in love, striving to make it onto a second list. Just as I don’t demand anything from dead bodies, I still hope they become Death Spirits on their own, transforming into necromancy creatures.”
“I get it, the young lady said to take a break, but in her heart, she’s expecting me to work overtime without pay!”
The corporate slave and the Necromancer used different metaphors to reach a consensus–Hanna was a tsundere streetlamp.
“Then there’s you,” Ash looked at Liss, “Speak up, what have you done with my Substitute?”
Liss’s eyes flickered, “I didn’t really do anything, just had him help out as a model… Oh right, I have a question too. Can being in love really change a person’s character? I’ve met a few sisters recently; some are serious, some are black-hearted, some are cold, some are even dumber than me, but they all became tender after falling in love, often daydreaming and giggling for no reason. Is love really that powerful?”
“Ah, a good question, unfortunately, I can’t answer it,” Ash said with a deadpan expression.
“Yes,” Harvey spoke while chewing on a cake, “For instance, recently I started quitting smoking because of someone.”
Ash: (deg-deg”).
Liss: S(tsudegDdeg;)tsu.
Faced with everyone’s shocked expressions, Harvey looked puzzled, “Is it that surprising?”
“Because Harvey, in my view, you’re the kind of person who’d ‘want to light a cigarette just before dying, fail desperately to do so, and then die with regrets’,” Ash said, with Liss nodding vigorously in agreement.
“Assigning Death scenarios is a Necromancer’s job. Ash, I see you have quite a Talent for necromancy–why not join me and become a lapdog of Hagen Dazs?”
Ash waved his hand dismissively, “No thanks. So you met her in which cemetery?”
Harvey shook his head, “Not in a cemetery. I awoke to Hanna’s orders, finding someone to fall in love with in a dream. Though I didn’t have much hope, the number of people who can keep up with my aesthetics in reality is too few. But…”
He turned his gaze to the window, avoiding the father-daughter’s eyes, “I encountered a girl very much like Narbel.”
Ash’s memory wasn’t great, but he vaguely remembered the name, and linking the context and current atmosphere, this must be the Necromancer’s old flame.
However, Ash was deepened in fear as Harvey seemed so calm about the joke of ‘finding a date in a cemetery,’ showing no desire to refute it.
Necromancers are just kink nesting dolls; every layer you peel back redefines your perception of a Mage’s low.
“It’s not that I liked the girl in the dreams; in fact, I can’t really say I liked Narbel either. We were just colleagues.”
Harvey continued, “I’m a control master who makes dead bodies; she’s a delivery person who moves them. We didn’t talk much. The last topic of discussion I had with her was about what kind of livor mortis looked most beautiful on her.”
No wonder Harvey was not hopeful about his own marital prospects. Probably, no female creature–no, not even a male one–could keep up with you.
“She said she liked blue roses, and I agreed,” Harvey said, “Because the beautiful purple-blue pigment can’t be produced by the human body, I set up a Poison Skill Miracle on her, so that when activated at death, it would react with the hemoglobin to create a vivid purple-blue.”
Ash bowed to the biodiversity of this world and lit a candle for true love–if even Harvey could find true love, there was no more persuasive example than this.
“Unfortunately, I never got to see her corpse,” Harvey suddenly laughed, “The efficiency of those Blood Saint Clan blokes at the institute was pretty high. The day after she died, her body was sent to some unknown research facility, and I had no way to find it.”
