Chapter 370 – “Have I kissed you before?” (1)

Edited by: Lulu

Looking at the blankness in Lu Jue’s eyes, Ning Zhi’s heart sank even more.

“Why do you care that I am crying if you don’t know who I am?” Ning Zhi pressed.

Lu Jue’s pitch-black eyes darkened. “I want to find that out as well. Do we know each other from the past?”

His fingers traced her eyelids to the tip of her straight nose. And then there was her smooth cheek. The familiarity of how fine her skin was made his heart tremble. Through his touch, he noticed that her face was burning up.

Ning Zhi smacked his hand away and stared at him viciously. Why was he stroking her face if he didn’t remember her?

Lu Jue looked at the girl’s face. His eyes were glued to her. “What is your name?”

Ning Zhi had no way of explaining to Lu Jue everything that had happened in the past. While waiting for Ning Zhi to answer, he noticed that there was an abnormal redness to her cheeks.

Ning Zhi didn’t want to engage with him anymore. She quickly turned to leave.

She was tired, hungry, thirsty, and very dizzy. She had refused to believe that he had forgotten about her, which was why she came all the way to confirm it. Now that she had learned that Lu Jue had truly forgotten about her, she was both disappointed and distressed.

She just wanted to get out of there.

As she turned, the hem of the light-blue dress brushed over the back of Lu Jue’s hand, and his heart shuddered. He grabbed her wrist unconsciously.

Her skin was hot to the touch.

Lu Jue quickly walked up and stood in front of Ning Zhi. He touched her forehead, and his look turned serious. “You are running a fever.”

Ning Zhi turned her head. Of course, she knew that she was running a fever.

“Have you seen a doctor?” Lu Jue asked her softly.

Ning Zhi pinched her lips shut.

The next second, Lu Jue bent down and picked Ning Zhi up in a princess carry. “I’ll take you to a doctor.”

Ning Zhi was startled by his actions.

Ning Zhi, who was already inside Lu Jue’s arms, started to struggle. “Let me go. I can go to the hospital by myself.”

“It’s a 15-minute walk from here to get any transportation and another 20 minutes to the hospital. You are very hot right now. It will cause damage to your brain if we don’t do something immediately.” Lu Jue carried her in the direction of the Lu’s place in brisk steps.

Ning Zhi was a little dazed. It was the first time she heard Lu Jue talking so much. Sure enough, he had truly recovered now.

Lu Jue continued to carry Ning Zhi toward the Lu’s on his long legs.

Realizing his intentions, Ning Zhi became mad. “I don’t need you carrying me. I can walk”

“You are going to fall. Be a good girl, Zhizhi.” His tone was very doting.

Ning Zhi was stunned as soon as she heard him say that.

Lu Jue, too, was dazed. He asked dubiously, “Your name is Zhizhi?”

Ning Zhi blinked and looked up at him. She looked into his pitch-black eyes, which glowed under the soft yellow streetlight, and saw his shock.

He had called out her name without thinking.

Ning Zhi’s heart shuddered. Currently, their paths did not cross at all. As such, why was it that he could call out her name?

Could she have hope again?

Not getting a response, he hugged the girl tight. Her body was very soft, with a hint of a nice fragrance. The fragrance was familiar to him. So familiar that it was as though he had been smelling it every day. So familiar that it was like it was part of him.

“Zhizhi.”

Lu Jue lowered his head and looked at her. He called out Ning Zhi’s name again with certainty. “Zhizhi.”

“Is this how I should call you?” asked Lu Jue. But he knew the answer to that already.

Ning Zhi looked at him with hesitation. “What did you remember?”

“Nothing.” Even though he was ill in the past, he had memories of those times as well. She was not a part of his memory.

Then, how was it that he knew her name? Why was it that he couldn’t control the beating of his heart when he saw her?

Ning Zhi’s hopeful eyes dimmed.
