Ch.175 Delivery (2)

They both looked at each other, there was a moment of silence.

Chen Jinlin was then reminded, “Brother-in-law, you can be by her side during the birth process.”

“The nurse asked me whether I wanted to be by her side just now.” At this point, she was slightly embarrassed, lowered her head and scratched the back of her neck, “I’m afraid that if I witness the whole process, I’ll be terrified of giving birth myself in the future, so I’d rather not.”

“Brother-in-law, do you want to go in, you can ask the nurse about this later if you want to.”

Upon hearing this, Yan Cheng fell silent.

Even until now, his mind was completely blank.

In the delivery room.

The nurse told Chen Jinyao that her husband was here.

“Would you like him to come in?” The nurse was used to seeing this happen in the delivery room, and personally thought that one’s husband who could be with his wife during the whole childbirth or those who rush in the room and directly hold his wife’s hand, is a symbol of a happy marriage. It shows in the small details, such couples are the ones that are truly in love.

As her words fell, another nurse, who came back in, also delivered the same message, as if to help the nurse before, her tone sounded envious: “Mrs. Chen, your husband asked to be in here so that he could be with you.”

After Chen Jinyao eased through the extreme pain, she gasped for breath.

Her body was covered in sweat, with strands of hair sticking to her face, and her sweat soaked through the blue and white striped hospital gown. She looked like she was just fished out of the water. Her face was pale as she bit down on her lips tightly, her hands held tight on the cloth beside her, so that she could gather all her strength and push later on. After a while, she opened her eyes and looked at the two nurses.

“Don’t let him in.” Chen Jinyao said softly.

Her voice was weak yet determined.

The two nurses were taken aback, and awkwardly exchanged glances with each other.

It was so obvious that they were both puzzled.

Chen Jinyao smiled weakly and chuckled.

“If he comes in, I’ll for sure cry.” She said,

As someone who she could rely and depend on would be here,

So she could choose to not be brave,

She talked about the grievances she felt from the immense pain.

In the end, she might not even have the strength to give birth, and would resort to bawling and wiping her tears on the corner of his shirt.

It was eleven o’clock at night.

Nightlife in the capital had just begun.

Yan Cheng stayed by the door as he waited eagerly.

The long wait had consumed all his patience, and now all he wanted to do was barge in.

Chen Jinyao said that she would cry if he went in.

He then wanted to say that if she didn’t let him in, he would be the one in tears.

Yan Cheng’s eyes were red as he started to tear up.

Apart from feeling anxious and worried for her, he felt that he could not help in any way.

A newborn’s cry sounded from the delivery room.

“Wa” his cry was loud and crisp.

Mother Yan said with a smile, “Sounds like a healthy baby.”

Yan Cheng didn’t have the mood to care about these things, all he wanted was to see Chen Jinyao.

The nurse flexed her eyebrows, smiled, and congratulated Chen Jinyao’s family. She said to Yan Cheng, “Congratulations, a very healthy and strong boy, 7.2kg.”

After a pause, she noticed Yan Cheng’s anxious gaze and continued with a calm tone: “Don’t worry, both the mother and the baby are safe.”

Yan Cheng was obviously relieved.

The tense strings in his head completely relaxed.

He politely thanked her, and after hesitating for two seconds, he asked ‘cowardly’: “Then can I go in and see her now?”

The nurse smiled and politely rejected his request: “Just wait for a moment, she’ll be out in no time and transferred to the ward.”

Yan Cheng pursed his lips and let out a dazed “Oh”.

Silly looking.

He wasn’t like his usual self.

Mother Yan walked over and slapped him on the back of his head, “You’re a father now, be more mature.”

It feels so surreal.

As if he was stepping on clouds and floating mid air.

After a long while, the joy of being a father slowly kicked in.

Newborn babies aren’t really pretty-looking and his baby looked all wrinkly.

His eyes were still closed shut as he laid there with his small fists and soft lips.

The baby was lying in the cradle with a “Mother: Chen Jinyao” tag attached to it. He was surrounded by the Yan and Chen family, their eyes glowed in excitement as they praised insincerely, “Cute”, “He’ll definitely be a handsome lad when he grows up”, along with other praises of the sort.

Such a fragile little dumpling, how could they tell if he’s handsome or not.

However, everyone was confident: “Since Chi Chi’s parents were so good looking, he’ll be too and might even grow up to be even better looking.”

Finally, they were done examining him.

Chen Jinyao was worried, and urged Yan Cheng to go look at their son.

Yan Cheng didn’t, and only went after feeding her some porridge.

At first glance, he stroked his chin as if he was deep in thought, a few seconds later, he calmly and objectively commented: “How ugly.”
