Chapter 35: To Play The Heroine

When Gu Yiming asked her in this manner, she quickly calmed down instead. This man was really cruel. Undoubtedly, they had no relationship with each other anymore but was it possible that he wouldn’t even allow her to hate him?

“So what should I do? Continue liking you?” Ye Mu’s expression was very indifferent and she still looked cute but she was like an icy pair of scissors, harshly cutting his heart into a few pieces.

Feeling some pain in his heart, the two hands by his side became distinctly rigid. He squeezed a few smiles out of the taut contours of his face, “Ye Mu, tell me. Between the two of us, exactly who betrayed who?”

Gu Yiming repeated his words, causing Ye Mu to frown abruptly. She saw that Gu Yiming’s gaze carried a bit of probing, “What do you mean by that?”

The muscles in Gu Yiming’s cheeks twisted and he turned his body sideways, seeming to avoid Ye Mu’s eyes on purpose, “Did you really get acquainted with your so-called husband in just a few days?”

Ye Mu’s eyes widened slightly and she looked at Gu Yiming in astonishment.

She felt that Gu Yiming was utterly ridiculous and she was furious, “Don’t think that just because you are capable of something, other people are the same as you! Gu Yiming, I’m not as shameless as you are.”

“Heh heh, I’m shameless?” Gu Yiming laughed instead. He detested Ye Mu’s cold appearance, “Maybe you did it first…”

“Pa!” Ye Mu’s eyes reddened swiftly and she threw a slap on Gu Yiming’s face, “You’re shameless!”

Besides these two words ‘shameless’,Ye Mu couldn’t seem to find other terms to describe Gu Yiming anymore.

Tilting his face sideways, a red hand print appeared remarkably distinct on his face and his dashing figure clearly looked somewhat disheveled. He turned around and chuckled, “Ye Mu, how bold are you exactly?”

His gaze was icy cold and his expression looked to be on the verge of rage, as though he had an urge to throw Ye Mu down from the mountain top.

“What are you doing!” Ye Qiyi, who had finally found Gu Yiming after much difficulty, quickly rushed over and supported his arm with two hands—looking at Ye Mu with extreme annoyance.

Ye Mu raised her head to glance at Ye Qiyi but she shut her lips tight without speaking and turned around to leave. However, she was abruptly pulled to a stop by Ye Qiyi, “Not apologizing even after you hit someone?”

“Let go!” Ye Mu shook Ye Qiyi’s hand off her and directly walked towards the outside of the temple.

After being shaken off, Ye Qiyi quickly extended her hand again but before touching Ye Mu, she stumbled over a rock beneath her feet and her whole body fell towards the stone lion by the side. Ye Qiyi had not cried out in pain when an elevated bamboo pole next to her slammed down abruptly, finally eliciting a scream from Ye Qiyi.

“Qiyi!” Gu Yiming’s expression tightened and he rushed towards Qiyi’s direction.

The thick bamboo pole did not smash onto her head but it slammed down heavily onto her leg, which was more than enough for her to lose consciousness.

“Help, help!” Gu Yiming held Ye Qiyi in his arms while he fished his cell phone out with one hand—calling someone for help.

Ye Mu, who had left, was not aware of what had happened in the temple. Just as she walked out with her head bowed, Mo Shen came up to her with a frown and asked concernedly, “Where did you go? Why did you take so long?”

Ye Mu raised her head slightly and looked at Mo Shen blankly. She was scared that he would worry, so she forced herself to smile, “I strolled around the temple.”

Although he knew that this wasn’t the reason, Mo Shen looked at Ye Mu with a complicated look in his eyes but didn’t investigate and nodded, “Let’s go back.”

“Okay,” Ye Mu agreed with him while keeping that smile on her face.

To Ye Mu, the end of the mountain climbing signaled the end of their honeymoon, but she still stayed behind to rest properly for a couple of days. During these subsequent two days, Ye Mu never met Gu Yiming or Ye Qiyi again.

Throughout the two, three days of leisure in this city, the couple visited new places every day and they also ate all sorts of delicacies every day. But at night, the both of them would definitely have to do one particular activity. That would be to sit at the television to watch her drama in silence.

Ye Mu didn’t have plans to return yet but Ji An was already calling her. As Ye Mu looked at the numbers jump out from her hand phone, she immediately rose from her seat and pointed at it to Mo Shen, informing him with a low voice, “I’m going to take this call.”

“Hey, Sister Ji.” Ye Mu walked to a slightly quieter place and took the call.

She could hear that Ji An was in a rather good mood through the phone as even her tone was a little gentler, “Make a trip to the company tomorrow afternoon. I’ve accepted a new show for you.”

“A new show?” Ye Mu exclaimed in surprise. How could she suddenly have a new show, “Must I return tomorrow?”

Ji An hummed in agreement and added quickly, “You’ll be the female lead of Zhao Ling’s youth film.”

“…” Ye Mu was completely stunned; she even thought that she had heard wrongly.

The female lead for Zhao Ling’s youth film? How could that be possible!

Zhao Ling was a famous director of youthful genres within the industry. He was extremely picky with the actors he chose, so how could he possibly choose Ye Mu, who was still a newcomer?

“Sister Ji, did you make a mistake…” Ji An had already informed her so clearly but she still wasn’t very sure.

“There is no mistake. The director called me himself, so how could there be a mistake?” Ji An denied, saying, “I heard that the filming will be starting this week but the chosen female lead suffered an injury to her leg at the last minute, so they decided to change the actress. Recently, ‘Beacon Hero’ is on air again and they admire your performance in it. It’s normal to look for you to act for them. In this circle, sometimes you have to rely on your luck. Ye Mu, you’re pretty lucky.”

Ye Mu couldn’t explain how she was feeling so after ending the call, she walked to the side of the bed and sat down without saying much.

“It finished airing already,” Mo Shen reminded Ye Mu aloud and he used the remote control to switch off the television. Soon after, he stated, “Let’s call it a day.”

“Young Uncle, we… Are we preparing to go back tomorrow?” Ye Mu gnashed her teeth and asked Mo Shen with hesitation.

Mo Shen took a look at her with a gentle gaze, “Do you want to go back already?”

Ye Mu shook her head. But then, she nodded again, “Not really… It’s just that the company called saying that they need me to drop by tomorrow.”

Observing her awkward expression, Mo Shen nodded his head, “I’ll listen to you. Since you are going back, let’s return together.”

The small bit of worry on Ye Mu’s face dissipated completely because of Mo Shen’s words and she slowly smiled. She leaned her head against Mo Shen’s shoulder and the complex emotions she had been feeling recently abated ever so slightly.
