When her vision cleared, her heart seemed to stop. She stood there, dazed, as if her soul had left her body. She remained silent and still for a long time.

The dark clouds dispersed, the thunder ceased, the wind calmed, and the rain continued to fall. A white figure and a red figure, along with Guan Xilin, Leng Shuang, Leng Hua, and others, descended from the sky. Seeing Feng Jiu standing below, they exchanged worried glances and rushed towards her.

Jun Jueshang, clad in white, held Wanyan Qianhua’s arm. They looked at each other, their faces grave, their gazes drawn to the scorched black mass at the mountain’s peak. A sense of unease settled over them.

Seeing this, the others’ hearts sank. Leng Shuang and Leng Hua silently knelt beside their master.

Jun Jueshang signaled to Wanyan Qianhua, who hesitated before walking to Feng Jiu and squatting beside her. “What happened? What happened to Mo Ze?”

Feng Jiu stared blankly at the ash, her lips moving. “He’s gone. He’s gone…”

Wanyan Qianhua glanced back at Jun Jueshang, his unease growing.

“We sensed the changes in the heavens and earth, the crumbling mountains and the lightning tribulations. We suspected something had happened to him,” Jun Jueshang said, joining Wanyan Qianhua. He looked at the ash, his eyes flickering. “Was he undergoing a heavenly tribulation?”

“Forty-nine heavenly thunderbolts, one each day, for forty-nine days. The lightning grew stronger each day, and today was the forty-ninth,” Feng Jiu murmured. “His body was covered in wounds, not a single piece of intact skin. The lightning had scarred him deeply.”

“Before today’s lightning struck, nine lightning pillars surrounded him. I couldn’t see him. Then, when the lightning struck….. he disappeared.”

Her voice was hoarse and strained. She tilted her head, letting the rain wash her face. She looked at the sky, a sorrowful smile on her lips, and shouted, “Mo Ze! Mo Ze! Come out! Come out!”

Tears mingled with the rain, and her voice grew feeble. “Mo Ze, where are you? Husband, come out, come out… We still have to find our children. How can you leave? How can you leave me and the children behind? Mo Ze, come back. Let’s go home, alright…”

Her figure swayed, as if the exhaustion of the past forty-nine days had finally overwhelmed her. She collapsed under the relentless rain.
