Chapter 19: Shower Together

“Let me do it,” Tang Ye said, concerned that Chen Lan might become upset thinking about her grandmother. He reached out and took the soup bowl from Chen Lan’s hand, placing it on the table.

Both of them engaged in casual conversation at the dining table and soon finished their meal.

Chen Lan had underestimated Tang Ye’s appetite, and the meal she prepared, based on the portion for three people, had almost run out.

However, she didn’t know that he normally ate a bowl of rice if he was alone at home.

After the meal, Chen Lan offered to wash the dishes, but he pushed her out of the kitchen.

“I can handle the dishes. Go take a shower. The hot water here is only available until eight o’clock, and it’s getting late.”

Chen Lan glanced at the clock and saw that it was almost 7:40 p.m. If she took the shower first, Tang Ye might not have any to use.

“What about you?” Chen Lan asked.

“I’m fine. I can use cold water. In the army, I often showered with cold water.”

Chen Lan frowned, “That won’t do. It was okay when you didn’t have a wife to take care of you, but which husband uses cold water when he has a wife? Besides, Dad told me to take good care of you because you have injuries. Don’t wash the dishes first. Let’s shower together. There’s still time.”

Tang Ye was completely caught off guard by her suggestion to shower together. It was as if a bolt of lightning had struck his mind, leaving his thoughts in disarray.

Seeing his lack of reaction, Chen Lan didn’t think twice and just grabbed his hand, leading him into the bathroom.

The bathroom was small and relatively enclosed. Tang Ye, being tall and muscular, made the already limited space feel even more cramped. Chen Lan found it was difficult to breathe.

She raised her trembling small hand and began unbuttoning his shirt, her eyes fixed on the muscles that appeared as she undid each button. She couldn’t help but reach out and gently touch them, her fingers lingering on a scar on Tang Ye’s chest.

“Chen Lan,” Tang Ye whispered her name, his voice carrying an irresistible seductiveness.

“Yes?”

“I see that you’re not tired enough.”

Tang Ye said as he lifted her chin and leaned in to kiss her once more.
