Chapter 1432: Chapter 1432: The Overlooked Skill
Li Yao nodded and said, “Don’t worry, didn’t you see them in desperate straits? Now, to support here, their formation at the rear has been thrown into disarray. Let’s wait a moment longer until they are completely in chaos, then deliver a fatal blow. Although there aren’t many cockroaches left, they can still hold on for a while.”
The situation for Starfire was indeed not good. Without the Tank Legion, those damage-dealing classes were essentially being slaughtered, and though Starfire’s damage output was fierce, if the battle proceeded normally, Starfire’s troops would be overrun before they could finish off the enemy’s forces.
Thus, the one to fail would inevitably be Starfire, which was also due to the limit on the number of legions; only fifty thousand could be summoned. To cope with various situations, various armies were summoned, but none in large quantities.
Once a ring was broken, a complete collapse might ensue. If there were no limits, Li Yao’s legion could unleash terrible power. Of course, first, they had to get past this hurdle and enter the second barrier to mobilize more troops.
Seeing Starfire reinforce their defenses once more, Starfire’s troops were already unbearably crowded.
The commander of the United Army sneered, “See, Starfire’s formation has compressed again; it shows they are at their wits’ end. As long as our reinforcements keep up, once we break through their formation, we can slaughter them at will.”
The morale of the United Army indeed recovered a bit, with less fear at least.
In the skies, Li Yao had summoned leader-class Griffin Legions, all of them Warcreafts with formidable combat power enhanced further by Metal Armor and talons in offense and defense.
Though the United Army also had Warcreafts, they were few and only of the Silver Hero level, no match for the Gryphons.
The Griffin Legion could boldly face the Giant Dragon in aerial combat, not something the makeshift aerial forces of the United Army could match.
If it were not for the high number of enemy air forces, the Gryphons would have already annihilated them.
However, even now, the situation was heavily one-sided. To secure victory, they started mobilizing fearless intercepting Gryphons, preparing some to join the ground battlefield.
But this was merely wishful thinking; the Griffin Legion wasn’t even exerting its full strength.
Xiaoman was merely undertaking a military drill. Upon seeing their reinforcements, Xiaoman emitted a shrill scream, and the Griffin Legion went berserk, with no enemy air forces capable of withstanding a Gryphon’s claw.
The sky was instantly filled with blood rain and torn bodies of various aerial creatures.
The ferocious Griffin Legion now revealed their true terrifying fangs, the intense scene making everyone fond of war mode drool–such a powerful air force was incredibly formidable.
The United Army was helpless; their air forces couldn’t talk about reinforcement anymore, and possibly they would soon be annihilated. They had to break through Starfire’s defenses quickly, otherwise, Starfire’s air forces would wipe out theirs entirely, possibly turning the tables.
Moreover, now that the passage was uncontested, they definitely needed to succeed, or Starfire would surely qualify.
However, just as they began to hasten the withdrawal of forces from the rear, a horrifying mutation occurred.
“It’s time to send you on your way, borrowing your warriors’ souls once more.”
As soon as Li Yao spoke, the battlefield echoed with various snapping sounds.
Initially, this sound was sparse, but it soon became as dense as raindrops.
Under the astonished gazes of the audience and both parties on the battlefield, many corpses on the ground continuously exploded.
But eerily, the explosions of the corpses didn’t send flesh flying; instead, they were dry, like a burst balloon, leaving only a chilling pile of bones.
What was even more horrifying, was that the eggs the size of human heads had cracked open, and out came the Flying Bugs, which looked rather frail but possessed sharp mouthparts and tails glowing with a green light.
They were like Horse Wasps that had mutated and magnified countless times.
Buzz, buzz…
The clapping sounds gradually faded, followed by the fluttering of wings. A massive swarm of mutated Horse Wasps flew into the sky. Originally the size of human heads, they quickly grew to the size of children as they ascended.
In no time, tens of thousands of these strange flying insects, either mutated bees or Horse Wasps, had obscured the sky.
Then, these flying insects circled around, their compound eyes filled with cold indifference.
Next, they swarmed toward the United Army below, throwing it into utter chaos.
“Long-range, hunt them down, hunt them down.”
The commander and several chiefs, faces ashen as death, still tried to struggle, frantically screaming.
These weird insects had just hatched, and their defenses were very low; even a slightly strong attack of the same tier could kill one.
But these insects were too eerie; the ones that were killed fell to the ground and burst open, splattering green liquid that was extremely poisonous. Although it wouldn’t kill a person outright, it turned their skin greenish and continuously lowered their health and agility.
The attack methods of these weird insects were also monotonous, limited to their mouthparts and tail stingers.
Being hit by the mouthparts would cause a bleeding effect, agonizingly painful.
Being hit by the tail stinger, unless one was at the level of Silver Hero, would result in instant death. Of course, after releasing the tail stinger, the weird insect could only survive about a minute before dying, but that minute still allowed it to use its mouthparts, and there was the self-destruction of the corpses to deal with.
Even strong soldiers hit by the tail stingers wouldn’t die but would swell up with a lump as big as a fist, which continued to spread and was unbearably painful. Many strong soldiers, after being stung, wouldn’t die but still agonized and rolled on the ground.
The situation had turned too quickly; even those who were mentally prepared were terrified by such creepy developments.
Some people who had witnessed Li Yao obtaining the Queen through the process naturally remembered that it involved using corpses to hatch the Worm Tribe. Those attacked by Li Yao would be parasitized by the eggs, and upon dying, they would become nutrition for the eggs.
The last time this eerie ability appeared was alongside the Dark Arrow, but after that battle, Li Yao had never used this skill again, and they didn’t know the exact properties of the Queen.
Thus, many had overlooked this ability, not expecting Li Yao to use it under these circumstances.
This ability terrified everyone; Li Yao’s attacks were too fast, and one two-meter-tall corpse could host several eggs. Given Li Yao’s rapid attack speed, it essentially meant he could summon a large army at crucial moments.
Even though it took time to accumulate and the summoned insects were relatively weak, they could still turn the tide in special situations, just like now.
Everyone knew that with the massive appearance of the Worm Tribe, there was no suspense left about the outcome of this battle.
And with the enemy’s formation completely thrown into disarray, Starfire also began to make its move…
