Chapter 8: Insignificant Person

When Su Zhi’en was being carried to the hospital’s first floor by the bodyguards, Jiang Chen, who was on the third floor, could still clearly hear her cursing— her curses were as colorful as a rainbow.

Ming Ze looked at his boss as he held his forehead. However, he could not hide the cold sweat dripping from his forehead. He was so scared that he immediately lowered the sound of his heavy breathing. He was afraid that his boss would kill him to stop him from breathing so loudly.

Ming Ze never imagined that his boss’s former wife would change drastically over five years. It was a scary sight to see. Ming Ze was just a part-time worker, and he couldn’t handle it.

Meanwhile, in a high-end apartment, Bai Yu’an and Bai Yuning had been brought back home by Ba Wanling. “Alright, you two, I have to go and open up the shop’s doors. You two stay here and play. I will buy you some delicious food when I get back. I will buy you food that your mother usually won’t allow you to eat.”

Bai Yuning was the first to nod in agreement. Of course, Bai Yu’an, who was a bit more mature, also nodded. However, as soon as Ba Wanling left, Bai Yu’an immediately ran to the phone. 

“Brother, are you going to call Mommy?” she leaned on her brother’s shoulder with her chubby little face. 

“Yes, I want to know if mommy is really in the hospital.” Bai Yu’an reacted faster and calmer than Bai Yuning. 

After saying that, he dialed the number of the hospital that Su Zhi’en worked at. Bai Yuning seemed to have thought of something, so she opened her mouth and waited for someone to answer the call. After more than ten seconds, Yuning looked at her brother and put down the phone with a frown. “Mommy is not in the hospital.” Bai Yuning fell into silence. 

“Mommy lied? Where could mommy be if she was not in the hospital?” Bai Yu’an felt that something seemed a little off about his mother today. He went straight into Ba Wanling’s study without further delay and turned on the computer. His chubby fingers clicked and clacked on the keyboard, and soon, the surveillance footage of Su Zhi’en’s hospital appeared in front of his eyes.

However, the surveillance footage only displayed public areas. Bai Yu’an saw that his mother had indeed entered the hospital. When she appeared again, she was being carried out by a big man dressed in black.

Meanwhile, on the top floor of a particular high-class hotel, Su Zhi’en had been cursing Jiang Chen ever since she was brought in. It was as though all of Su Zhi’en’s resentment and hate over the years had been unleashed. It was also a great regret that she didn’t scold Jiang Chen to death in the past. 

“Jiang Chen, no matter what you think, I still won’t be able to treat you. I can’t wait for you to be sick all year round! You’ll die as an incomplete being.”

Su Zhi’en was then dragged to the top floor. She pointed at the bastard in front of her and continued to curse. However, before Jiang Chen could retort, a small figure walked out from the other side of the living room. 

The person looked at Jiang Chen and said, “You’re back? You’re half an hour late. There’s no need to go to kindergarten today. Forget it!”

Su Zhi’en was utterly stunned. She had been cursing the whole way up the hotel and was emotionally unstable. It was as though someone had poured cold water on her. This boy looked exactly like Jiang Chen. His face was expressionless, and his eyes were cold. Even his tone of voice was very much like that b*stard.

Jiang Chen continued to ignore Su Zhi’en and kneeled before his son. His tone was surprisingly patient. “Daddy has other matters to attend to today. I’m sorry for wasting your time. I’ll make it up to you in the future, okay?” 

Jiang Wei was still expressionless as he sarcastically replied, “Are you this punctual when you go for your meetings? 

Jiang Chen and Su Zhi’en were both stunned.

“Who is she?” Jiang Wei didn’t wait for Jiang Chen to answer. He raised his head and looked at Su Zhi’en. When Su Zhi’en heard him, her entire body began to tremble. She couldn’t help but clench her fists— he was her child.

Words lingered on Su Zhi’en’s lips. She wanted to tell him that she was his mother. However, Su Zhi’en didn’t say it out loud. In fact, she couldn’t bring herself to tell him. 

At this moment, Jiang Chen didn’t even give Su Zhi’en a chance to say anything. “You don’t have to care about this insignificant person. It’s okay, and we won’t go to the kindergarten today. Uncle Ming will bring you downstairs to play.”

Jiang Wei remained silent and nodded. He didn’t even bother to look back at Su Zhi’en when he left with Ming Ze.

“Insignificant person? I’m his mother.” Perhaps it was because she wasn’t ready to meet Jiang Wei yet. But Su Zhi’en’s arrogance and sarcasm were gone. She was on the verge of collapse. The words “insignificant person” echoed in Su Zhi’en’s mind. Besides that, the first look that Jiang Wei had ever given her was a cold. It was as though a knife had stabbed her.

“Is that so? If I recall, his mother has been dead for five years. If we didn’t cut the grass on your grave, then it would be as tall as him, right?” Jiang Chen glared at Su Zhi’en’s defeated look and sneered. He elegantly poured himself a glass of red wine. Su Zhi’en was cursing Jiang Chen the whole time, but her demeanor immediately changed when she saw Jiang Wei.

Su Zhi’en heard Jiang Chen’s voice and wanted to yell at him. However, his words reminded her that she should have been dead a long time ago. Jiang Wei thought that his mother had been dead for five years.. Now that she has suddenly reappeared, how could she explain herself to Jiang Wei? Could she honestly tell him that his mother wasn’t really dead and that she had given up on him back then?
