Lu Wanwan listened to their conversation for a while and then understood the situation.

The man was Lin Yu’s former lover, named Li Hong. Initially, they just wanted to get some money from Lu Jingtian.

Lu Jingtian gave money to Lin Yu, who then gave it to Li Hong.

But as time went on, the situation changed; Lin Yu successfully persuaded Lu Jingtian to marry her, which naturally meant she should cut ties with Li Hong.

Li Hong wasn’t a fool, though. He had been wary that Lin Yu might eventually do this, so he kept a lot of evidence of their affair, including recorded phone conversations about how Ye Jing died, and then used these as leverage to extort money from her.

He knew that as long as Lin Yu wasn’t pushed too far, she wouldn’t dare do anything too rash, especially since they could still maintain their secret relationship. Over the years, they had managed to coexist without major issues.

Li Hong lived a hedonistic lifestyle, and even the money for buying the villa came from Lin Yu.

Who would have thought that he would nearly get killed yesterday by someone hired by Lin Yu, who apparently decided it was time to permanently solve the problem.

Fortunately, Gu Annan’s men happened to find him and temporarily ‘protected’ him, then proposed to exchange those pieces of evidence for money.

“You’re still bargaining at a time like this,” Lu Wanwan said, looking at the man who was clearly trying to drive a hard bargain.

“Can’t help it, Miss Lu needs it after all,” Li Hong spread his hands and smirked, “Hey, I have to leave this place and not come back. What if Lin Yu sends someone after me again?”

“It’s not our problem. If we don’t step in, you being killed would have been the only outcome,” she retorted.

Li Hong chuckled, “I said it, Miss Lu, you need it. Besides, there’s also the hassle of appearing in court later on, and it’s going to be a nuisance once my identity comes out in the open. I figure you understand that, right?”

Lu Wanwan was quite angry listening to him. It wasn’t that they weren’t willing to pay, but that the man was just too excessive.

Seeing that Gu Annan did not hesitate to agree, Li Hong would immediately change his tune, repeatedly testing their limits.

Gu Annan sat on the side without saying a word, just listening to Lu Wanwan arguing with him for a few sentences.

A cold smile played on his lips. If Li Hong had agreed to the terms the first time, he would have paid him directly.

But Li Hong’s deceiving nature had deterred him from paying upfront.

The uncertain smile made Li Hong feel unsure inside, yet he was reluctant to let go of the windfall in his grasp, torn over whether he should lower his price.

“Young Master Gu, we found it,” a man coming down from upstairs said, handing over a black plastic bag to him.

The man instantly panicked, “Hey, when did you leave someone upstairs? Going through my stuff without permission, do you have no respect for the law?”

The man who took the black plastic bag chuckled, “The law? Are you joking? Do you know how much blood is on each of our hands? If it weren’t for the fact that we hadn’t found the items yet, maybe…”

The plastic bag contained some indecent photos of him with Lin Yu.

Out of curiosity, Lu Wanwan craned her neck to peek, but Gu Annan glanced over and pulled the bag back, preventing her from continuing to look.

She felt like vomiting just from that brief glimpse. It was truly disgusting.

She didn’t want to see such things, even if they were offered to her!

“But, but you having these won’t do you any good… This can only prove that I had some sort of relationship with her at most.

Gu Annan tossed the photos back to someone behind him and stared at Li Hong, “Do you really think it would take us a long time to find your recorded conversations? Actually, I didn’t come here personally to negotiate with you. I just wanted my wife to see for herself how she should vent her frustration.”
