Chapter 45: Volunteering

That girl would’ve gotten to her feet and waved to Lu Zhanting if not for fear that her audacious gesture would be seen by the Dean.

However, Lu Zhanting’s gaze only met Yun Wei’s for a few seconds before Lu Zhanting averted his eyes and looked away.

All the other female students were so captivated by him that they started chattering, “Look, Master Ting’s features are so chiseled and refined, like a Greek statue. Oh, how enchanting.”

“He wears his hair very short. His features look attractive even with his short haircut. Imagine how much more charming he would look if he switched to another hairstyle.”

“Oh, yes. And look at those perfect, strong fingers. So manly.”

“His beautiful nails are well-manicured and shiny. How could anyone resist fantasizing… about his touch. I wonder what that would feel like…”

Yun Wei had gotten to the point where she didn’t want to hear any more of this type of talk.

She couldn’t give a toss if these girls were fantasizing about some other man.

But now that Lu Zhanting was her fiancé, the situation was different.

Yun Wei didn’t know when she’d started feeling this way, but she felt that he belonged to her and her only, and that he must not have anything to do with any other woman.

Looking sideways, she warned them, “The teacher is coming our way.”

The girls immediately stopped their chatter.

After a while, the teacher did indeed walk toward them.

“In a short while, there will be a small seminar where two representatives will be selected from each class to chat with the Dean and the directors,” the teacher informed them.

Many of the female students raised their hands to volunteer. “Can I? May I?”

Normally, no one would volunteer to attend these boring seminars.

Today, however, everyone enthusiastically raised their hands. Obviously, it was all because of Lu Zhanting.

The teacher smiled. “We’ll send Jian Zhifei and Yun Wei, then.”

Everyone was aware that Jian Zhifei and Yun Wei were the high achievers in the class and the top two students.

So, the teacher had made the right decision.

Looking deflated, the other female students said. “Sigh. So be it, then. None of us can match up to either Jian Zhifei or Yun Wei in regard to academic results anyway.”

But Hua Shasha interrupted quickly, “Sir, let me go on Yun Wei’s behalf.”

Yun Wei and the teacher looked at Hua Shasha in surprise.

Especially Yun Wei, since she really hadn’t been aware that Hua Shasha had designs on Lu Zhanting.

She already had Bai Wenping. What more did she want?

How many more of her things did Hua Shasha want to snatch away from her?

Yun Wei’s lips curled into a cynical smile.

Surprised, the teacher asked, “Why do you say that, Hua Shasha?”

“Yun Wei, she… she’s got the flu and shouldn’t be present at such an event. Furthermore, she should be resting so that her health can be restored soon,” Hua Shasha explained, putting on an act of being conscientious and considerate toward the school directors.

Rolling her eyes, Jian Zhifei retorted, “Didn’t Yun Wei catch the flu a week ago? She’s had enough rest. Yun Wei, you must not be lazy and shirk your responsibility. The honor and dignity of our class are in your hands.”

Although Jian Zhifei sounded like she was admonishing Yun Wei, she was actually opposing the notion of Hua Shasha taking Yun Wei’s place.

Ever since the last incident where Hua Shasha had caused her much embarrassment, Jian Zhifei had blatantly picked on her at every opportunity.

Also, she could tell that Hua Shasha was scheming against Yun Wei.

She didn’t know if Yun Wei was really half-witted or just pretending. It was obvious that Hua Shasha was trampling all over her, and yet, there she was, continuing to smile warmly and being friendly.

Hua Shasha was extremely angry at Jian Zhifei for what she’d just said. However, Jian Zhifei simply glanced sideways at her, indicating that this was how she always behaved, challenging Hua Shasha to retaliate if she could.

Smiling at Jian Zhifei, Yun Wei replied, “Oh, I wouldn’t dare laze off. I’ll do exactly what the teacher wants me to do.”
