He then walked away with Su Tingting, hand in hand.

While on the dance floor, Su Tingting held the manager close with both hands, and they began moving rhythmically to the music.

“Oh dear, look how close they are! She really isn’t afraid to let the world know about their affair. What an awful couple! What’s so great about being with the manager, anyway? He doesn’t even have good looks or a nice body,” Xiao Lan spoke at length in an impassioned manner.

“Forget it. Not everyone has the ability to entice a man of a higher position. She’s capable; that we must admit,” Xiao Hong interrupted with an attempt to stop her from ranting.

Xiao Lan looked to the side and saw the displeasure on Ning Youyou’s face.

“Youyou, what’s the matter?”

Ning Youyou threw her a quick glance and sighed. “Xiao Lan, you really have got me into trouble.”

Xiao Lan was perplexed by the sudden remark.

“You told her that my partner was going to stun the guests tonight, which was rather boastful. He’s not even here yet. She was right! I’ll most probably turn tail and run away from all this mess.”

Xiao Lan chuckled to try to hide her embarrassment. “Youyou, you know how impetuous I am sometimes. I hate that woman an awful lot. She thinks that she’s entitled to presume upon the manager’s power and intimidate others just because she’s having an affair with the man! Her arrogance disdained me and thence the boast. I’m sorry!”

Ning Youyou shook her head to dismiss her concern. “That’s all right; I don’t really care about it now. They can laugh at me all they want. As for both of you, stop sitting around here and doing nothing. Take the time and enjoy yourself. You should join in and dance with the crowd!”

“She’s right. We’ll dance with you if you’d like to. We’re more professional than the ones that you see on the dance floor. If you refuse to, well, then we’ll go and have some drinks,” the muscular man said with an inviting tone.

Xiao Lan glared at him. “Well, let’s dance! Let’s do it! I’ve already paid for your service tonight, might as well make the most of it, but let me be clear, you’re the one who suggested dancing. If you do it badly, I’m going to complain about you.”

The man shrugged and stole a glance at his friend. Both of them then leaned forward and invited the girls to dance.

“Youyou, you should dance with him after this!” Xiao Lan promptly offered before stepping onto the dance floor.

Ning Youyou waved at them with a smile. She would rather get mocked by Su Tingting than dance with the muscular man.

Without a dance partner, Ning Youyou retreated to the corner and became an onlooker instead. In fact, she found it quite enjoyable.

A waiter happened to walk past her with a tray full of cocktails, so she reached out and grabbed herself a glass. The drink was not too bad as the taste of alcohol was not too strong; something more suitable for women.

She took another sip and let the taste sink in. Her gaze swept over the dance floor and she instantaneously found her friends among the crowd.

Xiao Hong was obviously a better dancer as compared to Xiao Lan. In only a short while, she had already stepped on her partner a few times. The smile on his face was no longer present, and he probably regretted his suggestion to dance.

Amused by her clumsiness, Ning Youyou thought that it might be funny to tease her about it in the future.

“Ah!”

In an instant, a glass of wine was all splashed on to her body, which struck Ning Youyou dumb at once.

“Sorry. I’m sorry. I was in a hurry and didn’t notice you here. I’m truly sorry.”

Ning Youyou finally looked at the man and noticed that he was genuinely apologetic about the whole incident.
