“It’s just a jacket.” What’s so special about it?
Qian Fan closed his mouth tightly and picked up the phone, then he glanced at the time and softly snickered. “President Cheng, it is eight o’clock, don’t you need to hurry up and go home?”
Normally Cheng Yuelin would drink at least a couple mouthfuls of alcohol, but today he had been silent and in a daze, he simply did not care about anyone here.
Qian Fan thought that it was all due to his excellent upbringing that he could put up with this damn personality of Cheng Yuelin’s for twenty years, but no matter how good his upbringing was, he really could not endure this anymore!
Looking at this man’s actions everyday, even if they were a saint, they would do something!
Cheng Yuelin heard his words and accepted it. He stood up and nodded. “Okay, I’m gonna head out.”
His head was filled with other thoughts, and he had no interest in hanging out with them.

When Ruan Zhiyin said goodbye to her friends and returned home, the light in the living room was already on.
Although there was no one in the living room, she knew that Cheng Yuelin must have already returned.
After going upstairs and changing into a set of comfortable home clothes, Ruan Zhiyin went into the kitchen and washed the lemons and pears she had bought from the supermarket. She was planning to make lemon and pear syrup.
Cheng Yuelin needed to attend a lot of social events where others would inevitably give him toast, so he often had to drink. She knew that every time he drank, his voice would be hoarse the next day. Therefore, she was planning to make some lemon and pear syrup so he could have a soothing tea.
In Ye Yanchu’s words, this would be considered the details of her and Cheng Yuelin’s lives melding together. As the saying goes, the person in the tower will be the closest to the moon. Since she and Cheng Yuelin were already living together… It would be quite convenient.
Ruan Zhiyin watched over the stove for over an hour as a tiny bit of carelessness would cause the syrup to burn and ruin the entire pot. As the syrup slowly congealed and became thick and sticky, Ruan Zhiyin finally turned off the flame.
As she reached up to grab some glass jars from the shelf, the effects of standing still for a long time made her hands shake. The jar of red dates and chestnuts also came crashing down. Ruan Zhiyin saw the jar falling straight onto her wrist, but Ruan Zhiyin could not dodge it, so she simply chose to protect the jar in her hand.
But the expected pain did not happen. The heavy bottle also did not change direction and hit another hand that had suddenly appeared. Then with a loud crash, it shattered on the floor.
Turning her head, she saw Cheng Yuelin with a disapproving look on his face.
Ruan Zhiyin frowned after she returned to her senses, and asked, “Are you okay?”
Cheng Yuelin opened and closed his hand and shook his head. “I’m fine.”
Ruan Zhiyin breathed a sigh of relief and then looked at the mess on the floor. The glass jar contained the red dates and chestnuts that Uncle Liu had sent her, but now they were completely scattered and broken all over the floor.
Cheng Yuelin saw her looking at the fragments and held her wrist. “I’ll do it.”
The man swept up all the broken glass before he helped her collect the red dates and chestnuts and placed them into a clean box.
After cleaning up everything, he looked at the pot on the stove and asked, “It’s already so late, why are you still in the kitchen cooking?”
After he noticed that she returned, Cheng Yuelin went downstairs. Seeing that she was busy in the kitchen, he did not walked over. He had passed by the kitchen several times and he saw her standing there in a daze.
Hearing Cheng Yuelin’s words, Ruan Zhiyin remembered the items in the pot, and she quickly picked up two small glass jars and filled them with lemon pear syrup.
“I made some lemon pear syrup for your throat. Every time you go drinking, your voice becomes hoarse, so you can bring a jar with you to the office.”
Cheng Yuelin carefully looked at her and he swallowed before he gently rubbed his fingertips a couple times. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly and he paused for a long time before quietly saying, “Thank you.”
Ruan Zhiyin’s hands that were slightly stirring the lemon pear syrup stopped and she lowered her head and shook her head a couple times. “Actually… you also do not need to thank me.”
He did not let her say thank you, so when she heard him say thank you, it was a little weird.
Cheng Yuelin took the glass jar she passed him and gave a nod of acknowledgement before laughing slightly and said, “Okay, I know.”
As he thought, it seemed like she has figured something out.

Half an hour later the light in the living room turned off and both returned to their bedrooms that was separated by a not very thick wall.
Ruan Zhiyin had just finished her shower and came out of the bathroom. She laid back on the bed, took out her phone, and opened up Cheng Yuelin’s friend circle.
His friend circle was very simple. There were only a few pictures from his daily life and there were no captions. The newest two pictures were the fried eggs from this morning and the new coat that she had bought him.
Even though Cheng Yuelin was just recording his daily life, after scrolling through the pictures in his friend circle, it appears as though she was part of every photo.
Thinking about Ye Yanchu’s words again, she spent some time and gave a like to each of Cheng Yuelin’s photos. After doing this, Ruan Zhiyin opened her chat with him and simply sent out a couple simple messages.
[When you sleep, be careful not to put pressure on your hand.]
[Good night.]
Looking back into her conversation history with Cheng Yuelin, apart from the few emojis she had sent him in the beginning, the rest were just ‘arrived’ and ‘downstairs’ that were sent by him when he was picking her up from work.
Very cold without a hint of friendliness.
Ye Yanchu had recently bought a few romance books and she said that the beginning of any relationship was to create a romantic atmosphere. Sending a ‘good morning’ and ‘good night’ every day would help lay the foundations to such an air.
After sending the messages, Ruan Zhiyin got ready to turn off her phone and sleep. But she saw that the chat screen suddenly showed [Typing…].
After waiting for ten minutes, she finally received a short message from Cheng Yuelin.
[Okay. Good night.]
It was only one word longer than her ‘Good night’.
Ruan Zhiyin selected the message box and thought for a long time. In the end she decided to take Cheng Yuelin’s response as a polite reply and she put down her phone before falling into a deep sleep.
Except on the other side of the wall. Cheng Yuelin sat on the side of the bed frowning at his screen and looking at [Typing…]
After a long time, there was still no message. Laying back on the bed when he looked at the bruise on the back of his right hand, he slowly changed the hand holding his phone and placed his swollen hand on the pillow next to him.
It was a long sleepless night.
