Chapter 20 Legal Confrontation

After the initial shock, Bai Ping looked at Fang Xin with admiration. She knew then that her judgment was correct. Fang Xin was indeed suited to become a matriarch.

Even if she had chosen the wrong husband, she knew how to best protect her interests. She was neither servile nor overbearing when she was in trouble. She was calm and self-controlled.

She wondered which family would be so lucky to have such a treasure in future.

The lawyer, Mr. Luo, took a look at the documents and had a rough idea how he could win the case. “With these documents, it’s not a problem for us to fight for 80% of the marital assets.”

Fang Xin frowned. “But these documents were secretly kept by me. I’m worried that the opposing counsel will use the excuse of improper source of evidence to reject these documents in court.”

Based on Fang Xin’s knowledge, Qin Jianmin had also hired a very good lawyer. The opposing counsel was especially good at sophistry. He could win the case by denying the validity of the evidence.

Mr. Luo shook his head confidently. “Miss Fang, don’t worry. With me, there has never been an argument about improper source of evidence.”

As he spoke, Mr. Luo saw the bruises on Fang Xin’s neck. He frowned and asked, “May I ask if Miss Fang has any injuries on her neck? Did your husband hit you?”

Fang Xin nodded. “Yes. But I also fought back. His arm and ribs were broken. I filed for divorce after that. I’m afraid it won’t work if you want to use domestic violence as a reason for divorce.”

Mr. Luo smiled mysteriously as he replied, “Miss Fang, you were just defending yourself when your husband threatened you with violence.”

Fang Xin was stunned at first, then her eyes lit up. She smiled and said, “Mr. Luo, you are right. I’m a weak woman who acted out of self-defense. I don’t know what I did. It was just instinct.”

Hearing that, Fang Tong blinked her eyes innocently and looked at Bai Ping next to her. Both of them had the same thought. it’s true that no one should mess with a lawyer!

Three days later, Mr. Luo officially filed a divorce lawsuit against the Qin family on Fang Xin’s behalf. Not only did he ask the Qin family to return the funds that they had embezzled from the Fang family, he also asked them to return all of Fang Xin’s pre-marital assets, citing Qin Jianmin as the guilty party for adultery and domestic violence. He refused to divide their marital assets and instead asked for all of it to be compensated to Fang Xin.

Naturally, the Qin family was not happy with Fang Xin’s requests. They even ignored their own reputation and started arguing in court. In the end, the trial could not go on and the judge had to grant a continuance.

After court, Fang Xin and her sister were halted by the Qin family before they could leave the building.

“Fang Xin, you are too ruthless! What has the Qin family done to you? How could you secretly gather so much evidence? Did you not want to marry me at all? You just wanted the Qin family’s assets!”

Qin Jianmin stopped Fang Xin angrily and cursed in public.

“Qin Jianmin, you have the nerve to scold me? When I married you, the Qin family had only a dilapidated factory. If it weren’t for my father supporting you and repeatedly giving you orders, would your family business have the scale it has today? What about you? Not only were you ungrateful, you colluded with outsiders to bully the Fang family. You even had a lover outside and a b*stard child! Are you worthy of me?”

The surrounding crowd kept looking over. Fang Xin took a glance and instantly, tears streamed down her cheeks as she pointed at Qin Jianmin and scolded, “All these years, I’ve suffered together with you and your family. Have I ever complained? You, on the other hand, started to cheat just because you have some money and even hit me! Who is the heartless one here?”.
