Chapter 58: Who’s The Beggar

Mu Yixue’s face flushed with anger. She was dying to retort, but Mu Qing’s sharp voice quelled her. “Xue’er!”

Xue’er was too insensible. She had forgotten what they came here for.

Although furious, Mu Yixue could only swallow her simmering anger down. She glared viciously at Mu Ruyue, who just sat there quietly. In the end, she piped down.

“Yu’er, Xue’er was too insensible. You’re the elder sister, so don’t stoop to her level.” Mu Qing turned to look at Mu Ruyue and said guiltily, “It was I who wronged you before. Now, I’ve come to take you home. Don’t worry, I’ll make up for any shortfall I owe you in the future, so how about we go home?”

Mu Qing spoke to Mu Ruyue sincerely. If she were a stranger, she really would’ve been convinced that he was a good father who didn’t hesitate to lower his stature so that he could bring his daughter home.

However, would Mu Ruyue believe him so easily?

Mu Ruyue chuckled softly with frost in her eyes that couldn’t be melted. “Li Lu, see the guests out, I don’t welcome the Mu family here.”

“Yes, master.”

Li Lu had long been unhappy seeing these people. If it weren’t for Mu Ruyue’s orders, he would’ve thrown them all out a long time ago.

Mu Qing’s face turned unsightly. He didn’t expect that his willingness to humble himself just to invite this woman back would actually end up with her refusal.

“Lord Mu, Third Miss Mu, what are you still waiting for? Didn’t you hear what our master said? Do you still need my Mistress to shed blood on this spot before you leave?” Li Lu rebuked in annoyance as he frowned.

Mu Qing’s face sank. “Young Master Li, even though you’re the son of the General’s family, you aren’t in charge of the Mu family’s affairs.”

“That’s weird. Am I meddling with your family’s affairs?” Li Lu looked confused, giving the impression that he really had no idea what was going on. “I’m clearly driving away some shameless individuals for my master. What does this have to do with your Mu family? It’s not like my master is from the Mu family.”

“You…” Mu Qing’s cheeks burned with rage and he exuded a murderous air all over. “Yu’er, are you sure you’re unwilling to follow us back to the Mu Residence?”

Mu Ruyue yawned and swept a glance at Mu Qing’s flaming face. She said nothing, but Mu Qing could tell her decision with just that look.

Since she wouldn’t comply, then they could only force her…

A light gleamed in Mu Qing’s eyes. Just as he was about to strike and rob someone, a hurried voice came from behind. “My good apprentice, quick, lend me your tripod.”

An old man’s footsteps flew fast and he was soon at Mu Ruyue’s heels.

The old man was dressed in fancy robes, but his hair was disheveled as if he had walked out of a trash heap with dust all over his face along with a burnt smell.

Mu Yixue’s eyebrows wrinkled in disgust and she couldn’t resist waving her hand before saying, “Where did this beggar come from? So dirty and disgusting, but he still dares to parade in front of me.”

“A beggar?”

Upon hearing this, the old man stopped in his tracks, turned to look at the dainty-looking Mu Yixue, blinked and pointed at himself. “Are you referring to me?”

Mu Yixue let out a cold laugh with her face tinged with disgust. ”Who else besides you? Don’t tell me that you don’t even know who you are? One more word with a beggar like you would only be an insult to me.”

“Ahem-hem!”

Suddenly, Mu Ruyue couldn’t help but cough dryly. Laughter gathered in her eyes watching this scene before her in amusement.

Master Wu Yu, the Chief Alchemist of Qingyun School, was called a beggar? And to think that a girl even treated him with such disdain — this was totally unheard of for the old man.
