Lu Jiaxin didn’t hesitate to throw Su Heming under the bus, “It was Su Heming who said that, and he also claimed that Hu Huihui was a match you approved, insisting that you two would definitely tie the knot.”

If Su Heming were here, he would have kicked him several times. It was infuriating how he fabricated stories. Su Heyuan explained, “My dad’s always worried about hitches in my marriage with Huihui. So I told him you’re my lucky star and that Huihui is someone I specifically requested you to introduce, confirming you approve of her.”

Lu Jiaxin did not want to carry that label, “Ye Xin’s problem, Nie Zhan told me about it, I guess you could say it’s because of me that it didn’t work out; but my being uninvolved with Bai Jingshu has nothing to do with it.”

Su Heyuan continued, “I wanted to bring her to meet you several times. We had agreed on dates, but every time, for various reasons, it fell through. That’s when I started to feel something wasn’t right.”

“Not even Hong Kong people are as superstitious as you.”

But Su Heyuan was indeed superstitious, “With the company we started together, Qirui, between two years of profit and the sale, I’ve made over ninety million; from currency trading and shorting index futures, nearly two billion. Su Heyuan wouldn’t take this for an answer, “Gifts can be absent, but you must be there. You’re the matchmaker for Huihui and me. Others might not come, but you must.”

Considering his superstitious nature, Lu Jiaxin said with a laugh, “Alright, I’ll attend your engagement banquet before going on my trip.”

Taking the opening, Su Heyuan tried his luck, “Jiaxin, you’ve been to so many places. Huihui and I will definitely go on a honeymoon. Give us your recommendations!”

Lu Jiaxin was so exasperated that she scolded him. His brains must have gone awry, “You seem so sharp usually, but why does it all fall apart over personal matters? The honeymoon is something you should discuss with your wife. Where does she want to go?”

If it were a couple looking for travel suggestions, she would tailor her advice to their preferences. But she’d have water in her brain to suggest honeymoon destinations.

After thinking it over, Lu Jiaxin advised, “Huihui knows we’re like siblings, but we’re not actual siblings after all. Be careful with what you say and do, don’t let Huihui get the wrong idea.”

Su Heyuan saw nothing wrong with his actions.

“If you got hold of a finely crafted jade carving, who would you think of giving it to?”

Without a second thought, Su Heyuan replied, “Of course, it would be you! You like finely crafted antiques.”

Lu Jiaxin held her forehead and said, “That’s exactly the problem. If I had asked you to buy it for me, it would be fine. But if you acquired something nice on your own, the first person you should think of is your wife. Only if she doesn’t like it should you consider giving it to me.”

“If it were Nie Zhan, and he first thought of someone other than me for any good item he got, I would never put up with it. Once or twice can be forgiven, but if it’s always like that, then it’s time to say goodbye.”

Su Heyuan asked, “What about his mother then?”

This was clearly being argumentative. Without much patience, Lu Jiaxin retorted, “Nie Zhan cares about his mother barely more than he does a stranger; he’d sooner give something nice to a friend than to her. Anyway, if there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.”

“Will you be home tonight? At the door, the smiling hostess greeted, “Miss Lu, Mr. Nie, welcome to our restaurant.”
