Chapter 517: Chapter 503: Became an Idol
On Saturday, Lu Jiaxin followed Su Heyuan and Hu Huihui to dine at an Italian restaurant. When they arrived at the entrance, the two hostesses bowed and excitedly exclaimed, “Welcome Miss Lu to our establishment.”
Lu Jiaxin was taken aback; she had been here many times before, but never had she been greeted with such enthusiasm. Sigh, entertainment magazines will be the death of me, now everyone knows who she is.
Fortunately, high-end restaurants like this one have their rules. After a warm greeting, the waitresses politely ushered them into a private room.
Once they were seated in the private room, Lu Jiaxin said with a hint of confusion, “There are many high-ranking officials and wealthy people dining here, is all this fuss really necessary?”
Hu Huihui covered her mouth and smiled, saying, “That’s different! Those officials and rich people, most of them come from illustrious families or their parents are wealthy, giving them a higher starting point than the average person. You immigrated here four years ago with nothing and made a fortune from scratch without anyone’s help. You are now the idol of young people all over Hong Kong.”
An idol? She did not cherish it in the slightest.
Lu Jiaxin said in dismay, “I just want to make money quietly. With the way they’re acting, I won’t be able to keep a low profile anymore.”
Hu Huihui chuckled, “You definitely won’t be able to stay under the radar, everyone knows you. But it’s okay, you’ll get used to it.”
Su Heyuan was more concerned about her safety, “Jiaxin, you still have too few people around you, you need to hire a few more capable hands.”
Lu Jiaxin nodded, “Ah Zhan has found me another two mercenaries, and Zong Jinghua has recommended one of his former teammates to me. Gu Wenfeng has also found five people, and we’re in the process of getting their papers sorted.”
The five people Gu Wenfeng had found would need to be trained by Yan Yijun for a while before taking up their posts, but the mercenaries and Zong Jinghua’s friend were ready to start immediately.
She used to leave the house in one car, but now she needed to take three. With one car in front and one behind, she would ride in the armored car in the middle, fearless of any potential kidnappers. However, that meant she had to take all her bodyguards with her every time she went out. Sigh, she used to think celebrities surrounded by their entourages looked so cool. But now that it was her turn, she couldn’t find it enjoyable at all.
Su Heyuan didn’t trust the mercenaries, for their loyalty had its limits, “Don’t get too many mercenaries; three are enough. You can really depend only on our own people. Don’t worry about this, I’ll take care of it for you.”
Before Jiaxin had money, she still donated more than twenty million to help orphans and students in need. With more money, she would only donate more, and ten million greenbacks are just the latest example. Now that the Mainland is vigorously developing its economy, and with Lu Jiaxin’s significant financial resources and care for the Mainland, she was surely going to invest there in the future. For this reason alone, it would be the duty of her uncle and others to ensure she was well protected.
Lu Jiaxin smiled wryly. How was he going to handle it? He would surely turn to Xie Kaixiao. Nevertheless, whether it was Gu Wenfeng or Yan Yijun Li Qing, the people recommended by Uncle Xie were all outstanding in many aspects and could be fully trusted. As for Zong Jinghua and Miao Na, trust was more limited.
“Brother Yuan, I’ll leave this matter in your hands.”
Far from being jealous, Hu Huihui was delighted. If it were her, and someone who made a fortune was willing to take her along, she’d also go out of her way to protect that person to ensure they didn’t suffer a single injury.
While the two were having dinner, they also talked about business. Su Heyuan said, “Jiaxin, your Xinxin Real Estate has hoarded so much land. I dare not compete with Wansheng Real Estate for the large plots and old buildings, but I hope for the smaller sites we can collaborate with Flourishing Real Estate.”
Lu Jiaxin laughed and agreed, then said to him, “After the stock market crash, I had my stockbroker buy shares in Flourishing Real Estate and Wansheng Real Estate. I now hold 25% of Flourishing Real Estate and 19% of Wansheng Real Estate. Ah Zhan told me yesterday that there’s a shareholder who wants to emigrate and is considering offloading their 4% holding, we’re in talks and it should be no problem.”
Wansheng Real Estate was growing and diversifying into agriculture and would eventually invest overseas while Flourishing would mostly develop in the Mainland, where it would see booming growth in over a decade; therefore, she intended to keep her shares in these two companies indefinitely.
Su Heyuan hoped that the larger stake he could get, the better, “Yesterday, Brother Heming called me, saying you would lend ten million Hong Kong Dollars to purchase a production line? Is that true?”
Lu Jiaxin said with a smile, “It is true. Eighteen million, I lend him ten million, and you contribute eight million; the remaining amount will be taken from the factory’s funds, and then we’ll have the money for the new production line.”
Seizing the opportunity, Su Heyuan said, “Jiaxin, consider this ten million as your investment. Our home appliance factory is currently valued at about five million Hua currency. I’ll give you twenty-five percent of the shares of the home appliance factory.”
Lu Jiaxin knew that he was superstitious, believing that with her financial luck, investing in the home appliance factory would surely bring prosperity and profit. She didn’t refuse and said, “Brother Yuan, Brother Heming is the one managing the home appliance factory, and you’ll have to discuss it with him.”
Su Heyuan waved his hand and said, “If it were someone else, he probably wouldn’t agree, but it’s you, there’s no need to ask–he’ll definitely agree.”
Knowing was one thing, but such a big matter still needed to be discussed; it was a basic sign of respect for a partner. Lu Jiaxin said, “Brother Yuan, Brother Heming may be your brother, but he is also your business partner. You should show him a bit more respect.”
Hu Huihui just sat there quietly eating her food, not intervening in the conversation.
Su Heyuan hadn’t anticipated another rebuke, yet his attitude was good, “Alright, I’ll call him tomorrow and discuss this matter.”
After the meal, Lu Jiaxin didn’t go home but first went to buy some nutritional supplements and then headed to the Shallow Bay Villa. When she arrived, the workers were doing construction in the backyard. Since it was winter and not a good time for planting, they were only preparing the soil, planning to plant when spring arrived.
Afterward, Lu Jiaxin went to Mid-mountain to see Guh Haifan. The child was currently enrolled in a boarding school and only came home on weekends, but with Gu Xiuxiu returning, he would switch to day school next term.
Seeing Lu Jiaxin, Guh Haifan said with a smile, “Cousin, did you come to see Auntie?”
The first time she saw Lu Jiaxin return from an outing looking darkened and thinner, she was terribly worried until she learned it was due to mountain hikes to exercise, and then she was more at ease.
Lu Jiaxin nodded and said, “Yes, I came to see Auntie and also have something to discuss with you.”
Guh Haifan was a top student at his school. Influenced by her, he also loved sports; he was great at basketball, tennis, and badminton and was very popular among the students.
“Cousin, Auntie has gone to sleep. What is it that you want to discuss?”
Lu Jiaxin revealed her purchase of the Shallow Bay Villa, “Once that place is ready, you and Auntie can move there. It’s wasteful to leave this place empty, and it’s not good for the house either, so I’m going to rent it out.”
Guh Haifan was astonished, “Cousin, you bought a villa in Shallow Bay, for me and Auntie to live in?”
“It’s for Auntie to live in; you’re just included by association.”
Even so, Goh Haifan was thrilled and said with a smile, “Cousin, whatever you think is best, we’ll do. I have no objections.”
