Chapter 539: Chapter 522 Preliminary Plan
Lu Jiaxin had originally planned for Old Geng to come to Hong Kong after the New Year, but plans couldn’t keep up with changes, and now that she had returned to the Forty-nine City, she decided to meet at her home instead.
When she saw Old Geng, Lu Jiaxin was quite surprised, and she said with a smile, “Old Geng, you are not at all what I had in mind.”
In her imagination, Old Geng should have been a tall and burly man, as only such a person would navigate the grey areas, but the man before her was rather slim, and his face bore a smile when he was silent. However, his gaze was serene, a quality that came only with having experienced the vicissitudes of life.
Old Geng replied with a smile, “Boss Lu, you’re even more beautiful than I had imagined.”
He had inquired about Lu Jiaxin’s background and knew that she was twenty years old, and had closed a big deal even before going to Hong Kong. Using that money as a starting point, she amassed a fortune worth billions in less than four years; calling her a business legend would not be an exaggeration. Moreover, she kept a low profile; even the entertainment magazines in Hong Kong used photos from years ago when publishing news about her. Compared to three years ago, Lu Jiaxin now was beautifully vibrant and stunningly attractive.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Lu Jiaxin went straight to the point, “I had someone check, and the scum who killed your sister comes from a powerful background; you can’t take him on right now.”
He had plotted the murder of the person who killed his parents and had waited a few more years to cripple his brother-in-law. Although he had taken his revenge, his methods were too simple and crude. This scum had powerful connections; if he used the same methods to retaliate, he surely wouldn’t escape. That’s why Lu Jiaxin did not share the person’s information with him.
“Who is it?”
Without answering, Lu Jiaxin said, “Simply killing him would be letting him off too easy; he needs to be utterly ruined and disgraced to be truly satisfying.”
“Boss Lu, you just mentioned that this piece of scum has connections.”
Lu Jiaxin let out a light laugh, “Have you ever heard the saying, ‘Money talks, bullshit walks’? And if you kill him, his family will remain unscathed and can turn around and take revenge on you. But if he is ruined and disgraced, those who protected him in his family will surely be implicated. Then, you would be safe, too.”
The scum deserved to die, but his protective family was equally detestable.
After hearing this, Old Geng asked directly, “What do you want me to do?”
Lu Jiaxin said, “I want you to form a trading group, focusing solely on business with the Longhairs. You need to make it big and strong.”
Old Geng looked at her and said, “Although there’s good money to be made on the China-Russia border, it’s nothing compared to what you earn. Miss Lu, what is your ultimate goal?”
Lu Jiaxin replied, “The western robbers have already set their eyes on this behemoth, and I’d like to follow behind and have a sip of the soup. So, I hope that while doing business, you can also collect information.”
“What kind of information?”
Lu Jiaxin said with a smile, “There’s no limitation. Political, economic, cultural, celebrity information, all are acceptable. Also, I have a fondness for antiques, calligraphy, paintings and all sorts of jewelry; you can help me gather information about these as well. When the time is ripe, I will find someone to purchase these treasures.”
The only circumstance in which one would sell their family treasures is when their very survival is threatened. Old Geng was quick-witted, “Do you think war will break out in sl?”
That was the only reason why those privileged classes would sell their treasures. Otherwise, they would continue to exploit the common people.
Lu Jiaxin nodded slightly and said, “Yes, the internal conflicts within sl are intense, but still under control for now. However, the western robbers will stir up trouble behind the scenes, and with these troublemakers, it’s inevitable that sl will fall into civil strife.”
But it wasn’t just about igniting civil strife; America wanted to destroy the behemoth that was sl, so it could be the big boss. And indeed, they got what they wanted; sl disintegrated, and America reaped the tremendous wealth accumulated by sl over decades through financial manipulations. The archetype of robbers, world robbers.
Thinking about what she had done, Old Geng fell silent before saying, “I’m good at gathering intelligence, but not so great at business. However, I have a friend who is skilled in business, but he’s been screwed over by his own younger brother, and now he’s just connecting people for a finder’s fee.”
Misjudging people is common, yet some learn from their lessons, while others are perpetually blind. This fellow was even more unfortunate, backstabbed by his own younger brother.
Lu Jiaxin said, “You’ll lead, and he’ll assist.”
“Okay.”
“How much capital do you think we’ll need?”
Old Geng thought for a moment and said, “Let’s start with one hundred thousand Hua currency as the principal. We’ll start small, and once we make some money, we can invite others to enlarge the team.”
Lu Jiaxin readily agreed and then said, “You’re the only one who needs to know about this; don’t let a third person find out. The information you collect should be handed over to the person I assign when the time comes. Unless it’s necessary, don’t contact me directly.”
Old Geng thought such an arrangement was good. “Boss, when do you plan to tell me the details about that scumbag?”
“Once you’ve earned one million Hua currency, I’ll tell you,” Lu Jiaxin replied. Having made that much money, she could also use financial power to take revenge.
Old Geng knew this was a test of his loyalty, and he said, “Boss, how will we divide the earnings? Also, should the intermediary transfer the money to you?”
Lu Jiaxin explained, “My one hundred thousand is an investment. Once we profit, we’ll split it sixty-forty, with sixty percent for me and forty percent for you. You don’t need to give me that sixty percent; consider it your fund for gathering information.”
After saying this, she added, “Once you’ve earned one million, we’ll change the shares to fifty-fifty. If you make three million, it becomes forty for me and sixty for you.”
The more they made, the lower her percentage became, but the actual amount she received increased. Meanwhile, those who were risking their lives on this venture would get more if they earned more, which would motivate them to continue risking their lives for the job.
Old Geng felt Lu Jiaxin was generous. But her goal wasn’t solely to have them make money; she was more interested in the valuable information he could gather.
The two talked for a couple of hours. Nearing mealtime, Old Geng finally left. He had arrived empty-handed but left with a bag on his back containing thirty thousand greenbacks.
At Lu Jiaxin’s place, there were only greenbacks; foreign currency was hard to come by here, but Hua currency could be obtained easily with a trip to the bank. She couldn’t be bothered to go, so she gave greenbacks directly, which could later be used to purchase goods.
After he left, Lu Jiaxin leaned back in her chair and massaged her temples. Relying solely on Old Geng for information was far from sufficient; she also needed Nie Zhan to invest in SL to take advantage of the opportunity and shear a big wool. After all, post-dissolution, the Rupee’s devaluation was precipitous. Furthermore, investing there would enable a better grasp of the situation.
Just then, Nie Zhan called her, saying he now had time and was planning to come over the next day.
Lu Jiaxin replied, “No need to come over, I’m going back the day after tomorrow.” “These relatives aren’t worth seeing; each one has a brain with a bump on it. Without knowing exactly how wealthy I am, they’re already pompous. If you came, they’d be even worse.”
Seeing her agitated tone, Nie Zhan asked, “Who’s angered you now?”
Lu Jiaxin briefly shared the matter with Lu Jiazong, expressing her dissatisfaction, “I thought he was okay before, but I didn’t expect to misjudge him. He’s lucky to have married a clever wife, or he would have been scammed to death without even knowing it.”
Nie Zhan wasn’t surprised and commented, “Wealth moves the heart.”
In Hong Kong, wealthy families squabble over inheritance–there’s no shortage of bizarre incidents.
“Everyone loves money, but you have to know your own weight. A child holding a gold ingot in the marketplace might get robbed–which is bad enough–but the real danger is being trampled to death by those trying to snatch the gold ingot.”
