Chapter 971: 234: The truth of the matter, everything comes to light_6
Liu Qi followed the police officer’s steps, looking back at Liu Ru, “Let’s go.”
Liu Ru looked at Liu Qi incredulously.
Had Liu Qi gone mad?
At this time, to approach the victim and their family was blatantly asking for trouble.
They might even get physically attacked!
“Brother!” Liu Ru tugged at Liu Qi’s sleeve.
“I must go!” Liu Qi stated firmly, “You’re coming with me!”
With no other choice, Liu Ru had to follow.
Upon reaching the lobby, the police officer introduced them, “This is the victim, and these are the victim’s family members.” After saying this, the police officer introduced Liu Qi to everyone.
Liu Qi had never expected that Ni Yang was the daughter of the victim.
He already felt guilty towards Ni Yang, and now he was even more overwhelmed with shame!
Seeing Ni Yang among the victim’s family, Liu Ru was also stunned.
She used to look down on Ni Yang the most, and now, unexpectedly, she had to apologize and admit her wrongs.
What a twist of fate!
If it were all possible, she would spend her entire life peacefully on Taiwan Island and never set foot in Beijing again.
Unfortunately, the one thing the world lacks is a remedy for regret.
“Auntie Ni, I’m sorry! If it weren’t for my mother, you wouldn’t have been separated from Grandpa Zheng and Grandma Zheng for so many years!” After he spoke, Liu Qi and Liu Ru knelt down together.
A man’s knees are as precious as gold.
But at this moment, he could no longer care about that.
He did not pray for Ni Cuihua’s forgiveness; he only hoped to satisfy his own conscience.
Ni Cuihua deeply resented Jiu Wentang. If not for her, she wouldn’t have suffered for so many years, and she could have grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth.
But Liu Qi was Liu Qi, and being a mother herself, she knew she should not take out her anger on the children.
Children cannot choose their birth.
It was evident that Liu Qi and Jiu Wentang were not the same kind of people.
“Please get up,” Ni Cuihua extended her hand to help Liu Qi and Liu Ru up, “Good and evil will be repaid in the end. Your mother is already in prison; this matter has nothing to do with you two.”
“Auntie…” Liu Qi’s eyes reddened. He hadn’t expected Ni Cuihua to be so calm.
Jiu Wentang had caused Ni Cuihua so much suffering, and Liu Qi had even prepared himself to be beaten, yet Ni Cuihua did not blame him at all.
He was now starting to understand why Ni Yang was so outstanding, while his own sister Liu Ru was so inadequate.
It was because of upbringing.
Ni Yang had a mother who was both a role model and a teacher.
Ni Cuihua sighed and looked back at Elder Zheng, Grandma Zheng, Elder Shangguan, and Ni Yang, “Let’s go back.”
Liu Qi watched the family’s departing figures, his heart unable to calm down for a long time.
After a while, Liu Qi turned to Liu Ru, “Let’s go back too.”
To celebrate finally finding the person who kidnapped Ni Cuihua, Ni Yang had prepared a large table of food upon their return.
Today happened to be Saturday, and in the evening, Shangguan Xi and Shangguan Xu also came back.
The next day was Sunday.
Early in the morning, Ni Cuihua and Shangguan Dehui went to the Orphanage.
Visiting the Orphanage once a week had become a habit.
Around ten in the morning, Shangguan Furong arrived at Jinghua Village with Zhao Ziqing.
Coincidentally, just as they arrived, Zhao Shen also came with Zhao Zijun.
“Brother!” The siblings, who hadn’t seen each other for a while, were extremely excited.
“Furong,” Zhao Shen greeted.
Shangguan Furong smiled and nodded.
Zhao Shen felt a pang of disappointment, then said, “Furong, how did you come back? Why didn’t you call me to pick you up?”
Shangguan Furong replied, “It’s quite convenient for me to take a bus from there, no need for the hassle.”
“It’s no trouble at all,” Zhao Shen said. “Furong, just say the word, no matter the distance, I wouldn’t find it bothersome.”
“No need,” Shangguan Furong smiled and walked into the house, “Mom, Aunt Zheng.”
“Furong is back,” Grandma Zheng said cheerfully.
“Yes,” Shangguan Furong nodded, “Hey, where are my brother and sister-in-law?”
Elder Shangguan replied, “Your brother and sister-in-law went to the Orphanage, they probably won’t be back until the afternoon.”
“Oh,” Shangguan Furong continued, “What about Uncle Zheng? Is he not home either?”
“He probably took Yunyun to clear some land again,” Grandma Zheng explained, smiling.
“Clearing land?” Shangguan Furong paused, not understanding what was meant by clearing land.
Grandma Zheng continued, “Did you see the roadside planted with lots of honeysuckle and peony flowers when you just came?”
“Yes,” Shangguan Furong nodded.
“That’s what your Uncle Zheng and Yunyun cleared out,” Grandma Zheng explained.
Shangguan Furong smiled, “I didn’t realize Uncle Zheng had such a pastoral heart.”
“He just loves to be busy; doing it himself would be fine, but he always has to take Yunyun with him.”
In the afternoon, Shangguan Furong and Zhao Shen took the children back to the Zhao Family to visit Grandma Zhao.
After they left, Grandma Zheng and Elder Shangguan chatted, “Elder sister, do you think there’s still a chance for Furong and Zhao Shen to remarry?”
Elder Shangguan sighed, “I would like them to remarry, otherwise the children will suffer by following them, but Furong has never loosened up.”
“So, does Zhao Shen want to remarry?” Grandma Zheng asked.
Elder Shangguan nodded.
Grandma Zheng continued, “As the saying goes, ‘a prodigal son who returns is more precious than gold.’ As long as Zhao Shen truly repents, considering the children, remarriage is feasible. But we elders shouldn’t interfere too much…”
Elder Shangguan, finding a confidant, quickly agreed, “Exactly, I have tried both soft and hard tactics, but Furong just doesn’t listen. I’m leaving it be now, let her decide, children and grandchildren have their own blessings.”
Grandma Zheng smiled, “That’s good, letting go sometimes makes things easier. Oh, Shangguan Xu and Shangguan Xi aren’t young anymore, have they found someone outside?”
Elder Shangguan shook her head, “Nothing from Shangguan Xu yet, and I haven’t heard anything from Shangguan Xi recently either, probably not going well.”
“Did she date someone before?” Grandma Zheng asked.
Elder Shangguan nodded, “She dated a university classmate, but the man’s family had seven sisters. We won’t talk about their family conditions, but anyone with eyes could see that his parents definitely favored sons over daughters! If Shangguan Xi could secure a son after marrying, that would be one thing, but if she had a daughter, her hard days would still be ahead!”
