Chapter 1446: Chapter 1418: Behind the Distortion Is Suffering
A group of people, filled with doubts, followed Kiara back to the hotel, with Mario Yuno remaining silent throughout the journey.
He didn’t understand Psychology, but he was good at logical reasoning. As he pieced together the events of the day, it seemed he had come to an understanding.
“Wife, is the Oedipus Complex the same as having a love for one’s mother?”
“Yes.”
“Then, what you just asked about, what is having a love for one’s father?”
Kiara wasn’t surprised that Edward Wheeler asked this; if his brilliant mind couldn’t figure it out, that would have been strange indeed. He truly was Enlightened One.
“Love for one’s father is the Electra Complex, and actually, there are opposite states to these, like the reverse, for example, a father’s love for his daughter, a reverse Electra Complex. I think this is where the problem lies.”
Mario Yuno understood; no wonder Molly Palmer sought out much older men and had such a big reaction upon hearing Kiara’s few questions. If it were so–
“Then her hatred for Aka, could it be because of–?!”
Kiara nodded solemnly, yes, it was because of that.
In this world, there has never been love without reason, nor hate without cause. Behind every distortion often lies unbearable pain.
This conversation between the two high-IQ spouses was driving Aka mad, as she couldn’t understand it at all.
By this point, they had returned to the hotel. Mario Yuno opened the door and let everyone in, and Aka couldn’t wait to ask.
“Mrs. Kiara, just tell me, what’s really going on?”
“It all started with an accidental tailing by Camden and me today…”
Kiara then told them how she and Mario Yuno had discovered Molly Palmer, and how they had followed her to the hotel where she was with an old man.
Hearing this, Zoel Cohen became anxious.
“Is she sick in the head? Why would she imitate my woman, damn it, I really want to kill her!”
It was utterly disgusting; Mr. Zoel couldn’t stand the thought of someone doing such things with a face like his woman’s, he wished he could disfigure Molly Palmer.
“She is indeed sick; in fact, at this point, she’s already showing tendencies of a split personality.”
“You’re saying she has a split personality?!” Aka was shocked.
She had thought that Molly Palmer was living a much better life than her own, with everything she lacked; who would’ve thought that Kiara would say Molly Palmer was ill?!
“Yes, and the main cause of her current condition is… a terrible man.”
“Who! Tell me!”
“Let me tell you a story, it all began many years ago. There were twin sisters who, though they were orphans, depended solely on each other for survival. The elder sister was bright and cheerful, the younger sister was timid and reserved. The elder always protected the younger, until one day, a man who appeared very wealthy came along, wanting to choose one to adopt. The younger sister was very eager to go and tampered with the IQ test results, although, that’s just my speculation; perhaps she didn’t tamper with the results at all and was indeed very intelligent.”
Kiara couldn’t be certain about who was smarter; it was only her guess.
Aka might seem dumb and her professional studies were a mess, but judging from her actions, especially her whole interaction process with Zoel Cohen, she was definitely cunningly astute, understanding every bit where it mattered.
“It’s definitely her who’s taller, isn’t that obvious?” Aka hurriedly urged, realizing that Kiara was talking about herself and Molly Nan Guo.
“And then what happened?”
“Then… this younger sister was chosen, but what awaited her after being taken away was not heaven, but hell… I am over ninety percent confident that the person who adopted her gave her…forc… and not just once, I can’t rule out some violent methods.”
Kiara spoke implicitly, but Aka understood and gasped.
“Are you joking with me? She was just a kid when she was taken away!”
“I’m not joking, her abnormal behavior now reflects her experiences at a young age, why is she looking for older men and then pretending to be you so they can abuse her? That’s exactly a reflection of how she felt back then. She wished it was you who was taken away, she wished you are the one who suffers misfortune, your brightness is what she could not even touch and was crazily jealous of, so she wants to destroy everything about you.”
This was the truth.
How exactly that person treated Molly, Kiara did not know, but judging from Molly’s performance today, it was certainly very tragic.
“I analyze that her ability to master the skills she has now might be related to her experiences back then,” Mario Yuno spoke up, and everyone looked at him.
“Even though I’m not a psychology major, among the criminals I’ve encountered, there are indeed those who use things to lure young girls and then if they don’t succeed…”
Those words are too cruel to fully express, better left unsaid.
Kiara agreed with Mario Yuno’s point, “I won’t deny that there are indeed many geniuses in this world, like Eldest Brother and Fox Cat, with a natural aptitude to learn anything quickly. But more people are like me, with duller talents–”
“You have dull talents?” Zoel Cohen couldn’t listen to this anymore, if Emma Clark was considered dull, then half the Earth’s population should just die off.
“I’m talking about the field of innate talent, to be honest, my achievements today are related to my own luck, I’m not exceptional innately, I’m not better than my husband or Eldest Brother.”
Kiara had an above-average IQ, but she knew that her standing in the elite field was inseparable from her diligent efforts and experiences from two lifetimes.
“Objectively speaking, Molly’s innate conditions are even worse than mine. For her to reach her current state, she must have undergone some unspeakable training–I think what Camden said is closest to the truth.”
It was precisely those past experiences that caused Molly’s suppressed heart to become extremely twisted, and she started seeking frantic revenge against Aka.
At this moment, Aka felt as if she was in an ice cellar, cold from head to toe. She wanted to object to Kiara, to say this was impossible, but she realized that Kiara’s words could very well be the truth.
Aka hugged herself tightly, which is the standard pose when someone goes into a defensive state.
She seemed to see the young Molly being bullied, crying out for her sister, “Sister, why won’t you come and protect me…”
This scene was so vivid, Emily Martin’s tender voice from her younger years seemed to ring in her ear, and Aka’s tears fell unconsciously.
Being bullied so badly in the past, she had also felt hatred toward Emily Martin, wondering why she had to treat her this way. But after Kiara finished explaining everything, all of Aka’s hate was overshadowed by a great sorrow.
Her sister had suffered such inhumane torment in a place she couldn’t see!
“I didn’t know, I really didn’t know…” Aka muttered, tears continuously falling.
“Hang on, you guys! Are we also blaming this on my Aka? Is she sick? If someone bullied her, she should go after them, not take revenge on innocent people. Aka, don’t cry, it has nothing to do with you,” Zoel Cohen said, feeling distressed seeing Aka cry.
He didn’t think Aka was responsible at all. Indeed, if Molly had such a tragic past, it would be quite sympathetic, but being miserable herself and wanting to drag her twin sister down with her, Mr. Zoel just couldn’t tolerate that.
“It’s not like that, you don’t understand, you don’t understand… Molly must have really wanted me to save her back then, she must have really wanted it,” Aka’s emotions were on the verge of collapse.
