Ji Tingyang finished the phone call, his eyebrows brimming with an indescribable touch of smugness.

Lin Xu asked in confusion, “What did the doctor say exactly?”

“The doctor said the paternity test was negative; there’s no blood relation between him and me,” Ji Tingyang said.

If he wasn’t the father, then Lin Xu wouldn’t leave.

A hint of joy tugged at the corners of his mouth.

“First, Xie Changyan doesn’t know you, and second, there’s no blood relation between him and me. It’s just that their similar appearances have deceived you,” Ji Tingyang earnestly persuaded, trying to convince Lin Xu not to be fooled by him any longer.

Lin Xu’s shoulders slumped, and the corners of her mouth turned down slightly, a feeling of inexplicable loss washing over her.

Lin Xu suddenly felt nervous and quickly typed a response to refuse: [No need, just send me the address, and I’ll take a car there myself.]

If Ji Tingyang saw this, he would definitely be angry.

When the weekend arrived,

Lin Xu made up an excuse to avoid going with Ji Tingyang, hailed a taxi, and made her way to the racing track in the south of the city.

He instantly captured her attention.

She approached him and greeted him.

Su Linzhou watched her with a cheery smile and casually pointed to a race car, “Miss Lin, would you be interested in taking a test drive?”

“I can’t drive. Better not,” Lin Xu shook her head.

“Then let Xie Changyan teach you,” Su Linzhou winked at Xie Changyan with his right eye.

Before Lin Xu could respond, Xie Changyan approached her with a composed and casual tone, as if making small talk, “Which one would you like to try?”

In the racing pit, there were more than a dozen different models of race cars. Lin Xu didn’t know much about them and dared not try them at random, “Better not, I’ll just cheer you on from here.”

“What’s there to cheer for here? Just get in the passenger seat with Xie Changyan and let him take you for a lap. Cheer properly inside the car,” Su Linzhou interjected.

Xie Changyan glanced at him lightly, and a shock went through Su Linzhou’s heart as he suddenly remembered.

Previously, a few fearless girls who’d sat in Xie Changyan’s passenger seat came off the track looking half-dead and pale as ghosts. Afterwards, they developed a psychological shadow whenever they saw him.

If Lin Xu got scared by his brother too, and kept her distance respectfully, how would he ever pursue her?

“Really? Can you actually take me for a lap?!”

Lin Xu smiled, “Not much, I just know how to wear a helmet.”

Xie Changyan silently nodded and then got into the race car with Lin Xu.

Seeing her settled in, he stepped on the gas, and the race car immediately sped off.

The race cars on the track were all very fast, like untamed horses running wild, kicking up a cloud of dust. In contrast, Xie Changyan’s race car seemed slow and leisurely amidst the speeding cars, distinctly out of place.

After scaring off so many potential dates with his racing, he seemed to have learned to be gentle and considerate.

He had never imagined this guy would see the day.

Sitting in the car, Lin Xu watched one car after another overtake them, disappearing into the distance. The corners of her lips curved slightly, and suddenly, memories from the past came to her mind.

“Didn’t you say you were very skilled at racing? Why is everyone overtaking you?” she asked discontentedly, her lips puckered as she got out of the car.

“I win too much normally and attract envy. It’s practice, so I let them have it,” Ji Yanli tugged at the corner of his lips, his attractive eyes appearing to smile yet not smile.

“That won’t do. You should give your one hundred percent even in practice races!” Lin Xu chided him for his passive approach.

Ji Yanli’s eyes twinkled with a faint smile, “If I really showed my full strength, you’d be clinging to the side of the car throwing up by now. How come when I’m gentle and considerate with you, I still get criticized?”

“I am not that weak!” Lin Xu’s cheeks flushed slightly, but she still retorted defiantly.

“Then…” His deep voice dragged out a long drawl, “how about we make a bet?”

“Bet on what?”

“If you win, I’ll agree to any request of yours. If I win…”

“Yeah?”

“How about becoming my girlfriend?”

Lin Xu’s cheeks went suddenly red, as if ripened, and she stammered, “I… I don’t want to be your girlfriend!”

“Then how about I be your boyfriend?”
