Chapter 745: Chapter 745: It’s up to you to decide whether I can do it or not
Brandon Piers nodded at Benjamin Jones, took off his coat, and hung it in the hallway, then turned around and went upstairs calmly.
This time it was Abigail’s turn, “…”
Benjamin Jones also raised an eyebrow slightly and then asked Abigail, “I heard that the one engaged to Miss Swift is Adam Piers?”
“Maybe.” Abigail had read the news yesterday and couldn’t help but admire that man. He had planned this all along. Moreover, she never expected that Adam was not only with Bertha Swift, but they even had a child together.
“Uh-huh.” Everyone knew the truth, so Benjamin Jones didn’t press further.
But he obviously felt that Abigail was a bit absent-minded afterward. He sighed inwardly and got up to leave.
Abigail knew that Benjamin was always busy, so she didn’t try to keep him. After closing the door, she pondered for a moment and walked towards the stairs.
Before she even got close, she heard Teddy’s giggles, which made her pause for a moment before continuing towards the children’s room. The door was open; Brandon Piers held Teddy high before putting him down. The little guy was overjoyed.
Aunt Claudia stood nearby, laughing along with Teddy.
Abigail realized that having a child in the house really made things cheerier. When the child laughed, the adults couldn’t help but laugh along. When the child cried, the adults would still smile despite themselves. Even the coldest heart would soften.
Brandon Piers, sensing someone at the door, turned his head to see Abigail leaning against the doorframe, watching him and Teddy, a faint smile playing on her lips. The annoyance caused by Benjamin Jones disappeared considerably.
Aunt Claudia, seeing this, wisely took Teddy in her arms. Although she had previously had some strong opinions about Brandon and Abigail’s breakup, her traditional thinking led her to believe that if the young master admitted his fault, they should continue their life together.
Besides, she had recently learned to use the internet on her phone and discovered that the one engaged to Miss Swift was Master Adam.
When Aunt Claudia, holding Teddy and leading Threo, left the children’s room, the entire second floor was suddenly just Abigail and Brandon.
The atmosphere became somewhat awkward. As soon as the others left, Brandon stared at her without saying a word.
Abigail felt uncomfortable under his gaze, lightly coughed, and took the initiative to speak, “Why did you come over today?”
“Can’t I come over without a reason?” Brandon found a comfortable position as well, leaning on Teddy’s wooden crib. Remembering Lena Locke’s words, he looked her up and down before casually asking.
Abigail raised her eyebrows, feeling that his gaze was odd. It seemed less that he was looking at her and more like he was looking at prey, prey that annoyed him greatly.
Thinking of this, Abigail shivered involuntarily. But after hearing what Brandon said, she calmed down a bit and responded decisively, “No.”
Brandon, “…”
For a moment, Brandon felt his blood rush and his stomach churn. This woman’s answer was so straightforward. Why did Benjamin Jones come running to her every few days, yet she could refuse him so plainly?
“You forget we are now exes.” Abigail knew Brandon well enough. Seeing him annoyed, she explained kindly.
Brandon, who had just recovered his breath, felt it catch in his throat again. He stared blankly at Abigail, “When did we break up?”
“We…”
“I thought couples argue.” Brandon interrupted Abigail directly, throwing her a resentful glance.
Abigail was speechless at Brandon’s shamelessness.
How could he have the nerve to say they merely had a normal argument?
“Isn’t that so?” Seeing Abigail’s beautiful eyes widen, Brandon’s heart finally felt a bit of relief, and he continued questioning slowly.
Abigail, “…”
“Can you be even more shameless?” This time Abigail was so mad she laughed.
“I can, as long as you allow it.” Brandon even seemed to think about it and then nodded seriously.
Abigail almost had a heart attack. She took a deep breath, “You came here today just to aggravate me?”
“Not really, but…” Before he could finish, Brandon suddenly paused, his gaze complex as he looked at Abigail.
Abigail took a step back under his stare.
“I’m here to prove myself to you.” Brandon finally finished his sentence slowly.
Abigail was puzzled. Prove himself? What did he want to prove to her?
Seeing Abigail’s reaction, Brandon retrieved his phone from his trousers and played a voice message forwarded from Pullan’s phone, “Second Young Master wouldn’t cheat to marry Bertha Swift? As for his performance, I did confirm with Abigail…”
Hearing the familiar voice, Abigail was stunned at first, her fair face slowly turning redder and redder. Yet it wasn’t enough for Brandon to play it once; he kept replaying it.
When he played it for the fifth time, Abigail rushed forward to grab his phone, “What are you doing?”
Her voice was both embarrassed and angry.
Brandon, standing at 6’2”, had nearly eight inches over Abigail. He lifted his hand to avoid her grab and looked down at the woman almost in his arms, “Now do you know what I came to prove?”
Abigail’s face was a deep red as she looked up at Brandon’s teasing eyes, “I didn’t say that. She misunderstood. Stop playing it.”
“So, do you think I’m capable or not?” Brandon looked at her with deep meaning, holding her in his arms. He deliberately ignored her explanation.
Abigail’s face turned even redder. Whether she said yes or no, it wouldn’t be good. Frustrated, she gave Brandon a dissatisfied look, “Did you come here today just for this?”
“Yes, to prove my capability.” Brandon lowered his head to whisper in her ear, his smooth voice having taken on a slightly raspy tone.
At this point, Abigail realized how she had thrown herself into Brandon’s arms out of anger earlier, and now she could feel his breath on her skin, making her weak in the knees. Trying to avoid his captivating eyes, she stammered, “Don’t do anything reckless. We’re broken up.”
“Are we broken up because you think I’m incapable?” Brandon asked deliberately, his voice still low and suggestive.
Abigail felt her eyelid twitch, both embarrassed and annoyed, “You…”
Could this man have no sense of shame? Must he keep talking about being capable or not? Didn’t she know him well enough?
Brandon seemed to hear her inner thoughts, a wicked smile tugging at his lips, “Whether I’m capable or not is for you to say.”
“I think you are capable.” Abigail knew if she didn’t respond now, things might escalate. So she reluctantly affirmed him with words.
However, the man didn’t stop, “That sounds half-hearted. I think I still need to prove myself.”
Otherwise, how would he make this mischievous woman remember and prevent such rumors from spreading?
This Second Young Master clearly forgot that he was the first one to start the rumor about himself.
