Chapter 746: Chapter 746: I Decide to Give You a Chance
Abigail felt that the thickness of Brandon Piers’s skin had increased exponentially over the past few months.
He wasn’t this shameless before.
“That’s not necessary. Our identities aren’t suitable now.” Abigail took a step back. She felt fortunate that this man’s recent injury covered part of his handsome face with bandages; otherwise, with the way he was flirting, she might have pounced on him first.
But now, things were different. She could still restrain herself.
“Can you give me another chance to make us suitable?” Brandon had been worried these past few days, afraid that Abigail really didn’t want him anymore. Now, he didn’t dare to be too presumptuous and could only probe cautiously.
“Depends on my mood.” Abigail shrugged. Sometimes, this man needed a lesson. Otherwise, he might really think that she, Abigail, would dump him whenever she pleased.
Brandon looked at Abigail resentfully after hearing this.
Abigail ignored him. “I’m going to M Kingdom in a few days, for about a week. I’ll send Teddy back to the estate then. You should spend more time with him.”
“Hmm.” Brandon hummed lightly. He had some guesses about why Abigail was participating in that competition. It wasn’t just for medical research but also to ensure he had no worries. With a little reluctance, he wrapped her into his arms with his long arms.
Abigail could sense the guilt emanating from Brandon. “I really like my profession. If it can be internationally recognized, it would be a good thing.”
“I’ll solve everything here by the time you return.” Brandon didn’t expose Abigail’s lie. He knew that the international competition she was entering was prestigious, but it didn’t actually hold much appeal for her. Whether it was the old her or the present her, she didn’t care much for those empty reputations. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have stayed in Gills City for three years.
“Okay.” Abigail responded decisively. After answering, she suddenly smiled at Brandon.
Brandon was dazzled by her smile and had an instinct that what came next wouldn’t be good.
Sure enough, the next moment, he heard Abigail say slowly, “I’ve decided to give you a chance. Once you handle everything, chase me.”
As she said this, Abigail deliberately glanced at Brandon’s reaction, then slowly added, “Chase me like young boys chase girls.”
Brandon’s amber eyes stared blankly at Abigail. “Young boys chase girls?”
“Yeah, I’ve recently been reflecting on whether we got together too hastily. I’ve lived two lifetimes and have never had a proper relationship. I recently discovered that young people’s romances seem pretty nice, so I decided to give it a try.” Abigail explained seriously to Brandon.
“Too hastily? How were we hasty?” Brandon was agitated. The more he listened, the more wrong it felt. He couldn’t help but refute. They were clearly very serious when they got together.
“That’s your feeling. Besides, whether you chase me or not is up to you. It’s not like I need you to chase me.” Abigail shrugged. After saying this, she glanced at the time. “It’s late. Goodbye, CEO Piers.”
This was her way of dismissing him.
Brandon was anxious. He came today to prove himself, but now he ended up as a pursuer without even touching the edge of the bed. Moreover, from what she said, there might be others chasing her too. He couldn’t help but think of Benjamin Jones, whom he had just bumped into downstairs. Could Benjamin have already confessed to her, and was Abigail considering him?
No way!
“Abigail…” This call was truly filled with resentment and worry.
But Abigail tilted her head to look at him. Her eyes, like overflowing peach blossoms, carried a bit of a provocative flavor. “What?”
Brandon met Abigail’s challenging gaze and didn’t miss the cunning that flashed through her eyes. Just now, his panicking heart suddenly steadied, then he made a decision he was not entirely willing but also not entirely unwilling to make. “Fine, I’ll chase.”
“Then I wish CEO Piers good luck.” Abigail’s words were full of smugness, her eyes filled with a mischievous smile.
Brandon couldn’t help himself and gave Abigail a light peck on the lips. “But it’ll be busy for a while. You have to wait for me.”
Abigail, unguarded, felt a sting on her lips and glared angrily at the man but didn’t pursue it. She knew that if she protested, this man would likely go further. As for waiting for him, Abigail also knew that Brandon had a tough battle coming up, so she didn’t hold it against him. Instead, she disdainfully wiped her lips. “Get back soon. Goodbye.”
After that, Abigail half-dragged, half-pushed Brandon downstairs. Teddy had been taken out to play by Aunt Claudia and Lois, with Threo following.
As they descended, only Pinky was obediently sweeping the floor downstairs. Hearing the movements of Brandon and Abigail, Pinky turned and moved over to them excitedly to greet them.
Abigail instructed Pinky, “Pinky, see the guest out.”
Pinky immediately shook the signal ball on its head and politely said to Brandon, “Goodbye, Mr. Piers. Goodbye, Mr. Piers. Goodbye, Mr. Piers…”
Brandon looked at the little robot under his feet, which began to nudge him towards the door. He wanted to avoid it and stick with Abigail a bit longer, but the little thing wouldn’t stop unless Abigail told it to. And Abigail, standing by amusedly, gave Brandon a warning glance that seemed to say, dare you touch Pinky, try it.
For the first time, Brandon understood the saying: Living worse than a robot.
In the end, Brandon was swept out the door by the sweeping robot. As soon as he stepped out, he was greeted by Pullan, waiting at the entrance. Brandon gave Pullan a cold glare.
Having witnessed everything, Pullan pretended not to have seen anything.
But once in the car, Brandon was still upset and sent a short message to Romeo. “Is your new sweeping robot really a robot?”
“?” Romeo, still working overtime in the office, received this message from the big BOSS and was completely puzzled. What was wrong with his robot? The market feedback was excellent.
It would have been better if he hadn’t sent that question mark. As soon as he did, Brandon, sitting in the car, couldn’t hold back anymore and angrily replied with two words, “It’s stupid.”
Romeo took a long time to determine that the second young master was scolding his newly developed product and not him.
But scolding his product was equivalent to scolding him. Romeo had no way to protest against the boss, so he could only ask Pullan.
Pullan held back and held back, but in the end, couldn’t suppress the gossip and replied, “The second master was kicked out by the lady’s robot.”
Romeo, “…” So it was his fault?
But Pullan’s words made him involuntarily imagine the BOSS being swept out of the lady’s boudoir by his sweeping robot. He burst out laughing and decided that stupid it was. He could take it as the second young master being envious and jealous of Pinky at the lady’s house.
After sending the message to Romeo, Brandon felt slightly better but then saw a familiar car slowly driving past his car. Frowning, he called Kelvin Max. “Go find out why Joshua Piers is at Rose Valley.”
Kelvin was stunned by the news. Joshua went to Rose Valley? He wouldn’t harm the lady, would he? He quickly put down his files and began to investigate Joshua.
Three minutes later, Brandon received the news that Joshua had bought a house in Rose Valley.
Brandon, who also bought a house in Rose Valley, “…”
Brandon remembered the way Joshua looked at Abigail the other day and thought about his own intentions when buying a house. Could it be that Joshua also wanted to pursue Abigail?
