Chapter 750: Chapter 750: Early Morning Encounter with Three Handsome Men
The next day.
At five-thirty, Kelvin Max delivered the clothes that Brandon Piers was to wear today.
When Abigail left the Hughes villa at six o’clock, she had already packed up and was ready to go to the lab.
The two happened to bump into each other. Brandon sat in the car, turned his head, and looked at Abigail, a faint smile in his amber slanted eyes.
Abigail wanted to give him a cold look, but she couldn’t help it and waved her hand mockingly at him. “CEO Piers, what a coincidence.”
“What a coincidence. How about I give you a ride?” Brandon invited sincerely.
Just as he finished speaking, Benjamin Jones walked out, heard their conversation, and looked at Abigail. “Is Hughes not around? Then I’ll have the driver take you.”
Brandon hadn’t taken his eyes off Abigail since he saw her. When he heard Benjamin’s voice, he finally was willing to take his eyes off Abigail and look at Benjamin. “There’s no need to trouble Lawyer Jones with Abigail’s matters.”
“It’s no trouble. Abby’s matters are mine,” Benjamin said with a cold and stern expression.
Brandon was annoyed. What did he mean by Abby’s matters are his matters?
Taking a deep breath, Brandon told himself to calm down. “I’ve relied on Lawyer Jones to take care of Abigail during this period. I’m very grateful. How about I treat him to dinner tonight to express my thanks?”
Benjamin listened to Brandon’s words and looked at Abigail. “Did you get back together with CEO Piers?”
Abigail didn’t understand why these two were at odds early in the morning. But upon hearing Benjamin’s words, she instinctively shook her head. She hadn’t forgiven this scumbag yet.
Brandon, “…”; didn’t he deserve some dignity?
However, Benjamin was very pleased with Abigail’s reaction. He looked back at Brandon. “Abby is my sister. It’s only right for me to take care of her. But I do need to thank the second young master for taking care of her.”
He deliberately emphasized the word “care.”
“Oh, as long as Lawyer Jones knows she’s your sister,” Brandon retaliated by poking at the loophole in Benjamin’s words.
Benjamin frowned. “The relationship between us is defined by Abby. There’s no need for the second young master to worry.”
“I’m not worried, because I will get what I want,” Brandon said provocatively, giving Benjamin a look.
Abigail was confused just now, but now she gradually understood. A trace of surprise flashed in her eyes, and she looked at Benjamin’s eyes blankly. Did Benjamin like her?
How could she not know!
No, she probably knew, but she never thought in that direction. She was too familiar with Benjamin. After calling him brother for so many years, she never thought of him in a romantic way. For a moment, she couldn’t accept it.
Brandon realized then that Abigail had no idea about Benjamin’s feelings. He thought that since Benjamin had been hanging around her house frequently, she already understood. He wished he could bite off his own tongue.
Why did he have to provoke Benjamin in front of Abigail for no reason!
Benjamin looked into Abigail’s eyes and smiled bitterly. “Did I hide it that deeply?”
No, she just couldn’t see it.
If Abigail had any doubts before, afraid that she was overthinking it, Benjamin’s words now were undoubtedly a confession.
Abigail stood there, not knowing how to respond. She opened her mouth, “Benjamin, I…”
“Don’t rush to reject me. If you’re willing to give him a chance, why not consider me? Maybe I’m more suitable for you,” Benjamin said sincerely, looking straight into her eyes.
His words immediately blocked Abigail, making her swallow what she wanted to say.
Brandon watched the two of them and felt he was about to die of his own stupidity. He opened the car door. “Abigail won’t consider you.”
After saying this, Brandon looked pitifully at Abigail. “You said you would prioritize considering me?”
“I…” Abigail was caught between the two, feeling helpless. She didn’t want to hurt Benjamin’s pride. She knew his pride and concerns too well and was struggling to find a way to break the deadlock. Suddenly, she heard the sound of brakes behind her.
Following the sound, Abigail turned and saw a tall, slender man with an exceptional aura step out of a black Bentley. It was Joshua Piers, whom Brandon had run into the night before.
Abigail turned just in time to meet Joshua’s slanted eyes, filled with confusion. Wasn’t this too stimulating for the early morning?
“Good morning, Miss Green.” Joshua glanced at the two men behind Abigail and greeted her.
Abigail came to her senses, noticing that Joshua said good morning, indicating that his passing by was not a coincidence. Could it be that Joshua also lived in Rose Valley?
Considering this possibility, Abigail resisted the urge to facepalm and forced a smile at Joshua. “Good morning, Mr. Joshua.”
“Hmm.” Joshua responded, waving to the driver in the car. The other two men frowned at the unexpected guest, wondering what he was up to.
Then, they saw the driver take a wrapped frame out of the trunk and handed it to Joshua.
Joshua stepped forward. The two men beside Abigail immediately stood protectively on either side of her, warily eyeing Joshua.
Abigail was surrounded by these three distinct yet equally handsome men and couldn’t help but swallow nervously. She was young and couldn’t handle this kind of excitement. What did they want?
Ignoring the two men beside Abigail, Joshua handed the frame to her. “A thank you gift for Miss Green.”
Abigail didn’t move, unsure what Joshua meant.
Joshua wasn’t bothered. He reached out and removed the white cloth covering the frame, revealing the painting to Abigail.
Caught off guard, Abigail was stunned. The person in the painting was none other than herself.
On the oil canvas, she was kneeling on a car, performing surgery on a little girl. Only two-thirds of her side face was visible, yet the delicate brushstrokes made it extraordinarily beautiful. She emanated a faint glow, beautiful enough to make her feel ashamed. The whole painting exuded a sense of tranquility. Hidden wings faintly glowed with the light of the setting sun, as if grown from her back.
The painting was realistic yet imbued with a surreal, dreamlike quality. It was beautiful and impactful.
Even though Abigail considered herself well-versed, she was still moved. She stared at the painting in a daze, for a long time until she heard Joshua ask, “Do you like it?”
Abigail nodded without hesitation.
Joshua smiled genuinely for the first time today, looking less gloomy. His tone was gentle. “Then it’s yours.”
Abigail unconsciously nodded. When she realized it, the painting was already in her hands, and she awkwardly looked at Joshua, not wanting to give it back. She could only bite the bullet and thank him. “Thank you.”
But right after she said those two words, the faces of the two men beside her turned sour, especially Brandon. He had thought Joshua moved here just to annoy him and couldn’t possibly have any feelings for Abigail. But seeing the painting’s content, he understood clearly.
Without feelings, Joshua couldn’t have painted Abigail, and painted her so vividly, obviously pouring emotions into it.
Brandon couldn’t understand how someone with dirty hands dared to tarnish art. But looking at Abigail’s sparkling eyes, he couldn’t bear to disappoint her. He could only glare fiercely at Joshua and Benjamin.
These two were masters at getting under his skin!
