Chapter 764: Chapter 764: The Men from the Piers Family are Toxic, Aren’t They!
Abigail got out of the car. Benjamin Jones was already waiting for her.
“Let’s go in.” After saying hello, Benjamin didn’t stand on ceremony with Abigail and directly led her into the courthouse. Only after submitting a series of documents were they allowed to pick him up, but halfway there, Benjamin suddenly stopped.
Abigail was puzzled. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Benjamin replied, continuing forward.
Abigail didn’t think much of it and followed behind Benjamin and the judicial workers.
When they reached the holding area, Abigail instinctively clutched her bag. Then she heard a slightly disgruntled male voice from inside, “Where are the clothes you brought me?”
Benjamin moved to the side. “Hmm, here they are.”
Abigail, holding the bag, “…”
After a few days in the same clothes, Brandon Piers planned to take a shower and change his clothes before surprising Abigail at the law firm. Now he saw her and was at a loss for words.
His amber eyes reluctantly moved away from Abigail and then glared fiercely at Benjamin.
Benjamin’s face, cold as ever, responded calmly, “Abby wanted to see you before going to the law firm.”
Abigail finally realized why no one told her about Brandon’s bail today. It turned out the man had given advanced instructions.
But unfortunately…
Abigail rarely teased, giving Benjamin a mirthful look. She never knew this side of Benjamin. She raised an amused eyebrow and then stepped forward to hand the clothes to Brandon. “Hmm, want to change?”
Brandon gazed at the woman in the beige long dress, as serene and beautiful as summer gardenias. Suddenly, his previous worries seemed unnecessary. More than anything, he wanted to see her first.
“Hmm?” Seeing Brandon staring at her intensely without taking the clothes, Abigail softly hummed. The next moment, she was pulled into his embrace.
There were others around, but Abigail struggled a bit, finding she couldn’t break free. She just went along with it.
Behind them, Benjamin’s face was cold, like a living iceberg, glaring at Brandon.
After a sufficient hug, Brandon provocatively glanced at Benjamin, hearing him disdainfully mutter, “Childish.”
Brandon “Childish” Piers, “…” You’re just sour grapes.
Facing the triumphant Brandon, Benjamin suddenly smiled and added somberly from behind Abigail, “Abigail, he hasn’t bathed in a week.”
Held by Brandon, Abigail suddenly found strength, breaking free and stepping back, looking at Brandon warily.
Brandon was hurt by Abigail’s blatant look. “Abigail, don’t listen to him. There’s a bathroom inside.”
“He thinks it’s dirty and doesn’t use it.” Benjamin added from behind.
Brandon, “…” Fucking Lawyer Jones, where’s your supposed integrity?
Seeing the hurt in Brandon’s beautiful amber eyes, Abigail awkwardly pinched her nose. “Shall we go home first?”
“Abigail, are you disgusted by me?” Brandon, with his pretty face, pitifully asked.
Caught with a guilty conscience, Abigail quickly shook her head.
Brandon didn’t believe it. “Then hold my hand.”
“Alright… alright.” Considering the man’s pride, Abigail reluctantly agreed.
This unwilling tone hurt Brandon more than being confined for seven days.
Fortunately, the next moment, Abigail took his hand voluntarily, and Brandon’s heart didn’t shatter.
Witnessing the entire process, Benjamin finally understood why he lost. He couldn’t act spoiled!
But inwardly, he cursed. Fucking hell. How can a grown man look pretty and act cute with women? The Piers men must be cursed!
Benjamin’s ice-cold face almost cracked. He maintained a safe distance from Brandon, not wanting to be “poisoned.”
However, Brandon didn’t care about Benjamin’s feelings. He happily held Abigail’s hand as they headed outside.
As they neared the courthouse exit, Pullan suddenly called. Reporters were outside.
Abigail relayed the situation to the two men. Surprisingly, neither Brandon nor Benjamin reacted much. She asked, puzzled, “Did you guys leak the news?”
“Yeah.” Brandon’s expression turned more serious.
Abigail didn’t understand. Brandon ruffled her hair. “I’ll explain when we’re home.”
“Okay.” Abigail nodded, feeling a bit uneasy with Brandon showing affection in front of Benjamin. She glanced at Benjamin, relieved when he wasn’t paying attention.
Still, her subtle move annoyed Brandon. “Are you worried he might feel uncomfortable?”
“Keep your voice down,” Abigail glared at Brandon.
Brandon wanted to chastise her, but then Benjamin’s cool voice came from behind, “Abby, don’t let him get too close. He stinks.”
Brandon, “…”
Are you serious?
Benjamin’s words made Abigail instinctively move closer to him. But seeing Brandon’s eye, she sheepishly moved back.
Benjamin, usually stoic, smiled slightly. His frustration faded significantly.
Benjamin’s assistant, behind him, cast a curious glance at his boss. He never expected Lawyer Jones to have such moments.
Amazing.
Brandon knew Abigail had OCD. Therefore, he initially planned for her to go to the law firm. But he didn’t expect Benjamin to mess things up. Though somewhat embarrassed, he held Abigail’s hand tightly, whispering a low warning in her ear, “Wait till we get back.”
Suppressing laughter, Abigail followed closely. She wasn’t genuinely disgusted by Brandon. It’s just that Benjamin, typically cool, did something mischievous for the first time. She had to give him credit.
As soon as they stepped out of the courthouse, reporters swarmed. Seeing Abigail with Brandon, they became even more excited.
Since being photographed with Mr. Piers in the Piers Group parking garage yesterday, Abigail’s popularity soared. Her inspiring story drew more attention than high-society gossip could.
In the morning, it resurfaced that she had won an international medical award, making her the youngest high-level medical talent in the country, reportedly even protected by the state.
Pullan, overwhelmed by the reporters, quickly shielded his boss. But the reporters turned their mics to Abigail.
Out of respect for the medical genius, they restrained themselves from touching her, holding out their mics.
“Miss Green, how did you win an international medical competition at such a young age? Any secrets?”
“Miss Green, a medical prodigy, why did you get engaged and have children early? Any story there?”
“A top doctor once predicted Master Brandon wouldn’t live past twenty-five. Is his current good health due to you, Miss Green?”
“Miss Green, any weight loss tips?”
“…”
The media’s bombardment left Abigail stunned. Especially when asked if there’s a secret behind her and Brandon’s engagement and children, she was dumbfounded. Can reporters predict the future now?
