Chapter 1626: Chapter 1620: Good Wine
“Got it,” Qin Jiale responded to her mother, but her hands didn’t stop moving.
“Lele, your mom is so warm and polite, I can’t quite handle it,” Xu Shaoqin said after Nangong Shulan left, patting her chest. It’s just a bit awkward interacting with the elders.
“It’s fine, my mom is just worried you might dirty your clothes. As long as you don’t mind, it’s all good,” Qin Jiale said. When she first started learning, her mom didn’t say much either and just let her older sister teach her hands-on.
And she didn’t know whether she just had a knack for cooking, but once she started learning, she did it quite well. So now, whenever she comes back, she always helps her mom out.
“Yeah, no problem, we don’t mind, right?” Xu Shaoqin asked the others.
“Right.”
“Time to eat.” The five girls each carried a dish out and placed them on the table.
“This cooking skill is impressive, the presentation makes you want to eat it; Qin Jiale has some great culinary skills,” Ye Junhua commented, looking at the dishes on the table. The colors were fresh and appealing, though he didn’t know how they would taste.
“You’re too kind, Mr. Ye. Mom, is dad back yet?” Qin Jiale noticed her father wasn’t in the living room, so she asked her mother.
“He’s back. Oh, we have guests. It’s Mr. Ye, welcome, welcome.” Qin Lei had just reached the door when he heard his daughter’s words. He pushed his bike into the yard and saw there were quite a few people at home.
“Hello, Mr. Qin. Sorry for coming unannounced and disturbing you,” Ye Junhua said. He had met Qin Lei before, though the impression wasn’t strong, they had indeed met.
“No need to apologize, it’s an honor to have you here.” Qin Lei wasn’t just being polite; he knew it was rare for teachers to visit a student’s home, so he was quite surprised to see his daughter’s teacher here.
“Alright, that’s enough with the formalities. Are you going to let the guests eat or not with all this talk?” Nangong Shulan tugged at her husband and whispered to him.
“Mr. Ye, please have a seat, and everyone else too, let’s eat. Make yourselves at home, and if there’s anything you particularly like, just let Lele know. You can have anything we have in the house,” Qin Lei said, slightly surprised at having so many classmates over.
“Thank you, uncle.” The group hadn’t expected Qin Lei to be so robust and hospitable.
“Mr. Ye, do you drink? How about a little?” Qin Lei asked, coming over after freshening up, a bottle of wine in hand.
“Alright, just a little,” Ye Junhua said, not wanting to decline the enthusiasm of Qin Lei and his wife, so he agreed to a small amount.
“Come on, Mr. Ye, eat more dishes, let’s have a toast,” Qin Lei encouraged, urging the guest to eat and drink well.
“Sure.” Ye Junhua couldn’t refuse, but catching a whiff of the wine, he felt uplifted. It was a fine wine; just smelling it gave a special kind of comfort, leaving him curious about its taste.
“Good wine.” Ye Junhua seldom drank but that didn’t mean he didn’t know about wine. As soon as he tasted it, he knew it was top-notch.
“You’re too kind. This is just something our daughter brought back. If you like it, take a bottle home for your family to try,” Qin Lei offered, as he had a few extra bottles he was reluctant to drink himself. Offering one to a teacher wasn’t a problem.
After all, if it ran out, he just wouldn’t drink it himself. Since the teacher liked it, he’d gift him a bottle.
“A gentleman doesn’t take away another’s fondness,” Ye Junhua replied, preferring just a taste rather than taking it home.
“It’s something our daughter brewed herself, so there’s no need for you to feel embarrassed,” Qin Lei explained, thinking Ye Junhua might be hesitant because of its value.
