Yun Hao took the next day off.

He gave Zhang Ma a day off.

The couple then drove back to Qingzhao Village.

Due to the hot weather, they kept several car windows open; Meng Yunhan occasionally took out fruits from the compartment to eat, making their road trip rather leisurely.

Upon reaching the provincial capital, they drove straight to Yun Men’s shop.

“Is it closed?” What on earth is going on? Why is it closed?

Could something really have happened?

The next door was a breakfast shop.

It was already noon when they arrived in the town.

Old Man Zhao was inside the house, cooling off with a fan while listening to the radio; hearing the knock, he stood up puzzled–who could it be visiting at this hour?

Upon opening the door and seeing the two people who were supposed to be in Kyoto, he said, “Come in quickly, haven’t eaten yet, right? I’ll go cook for you, there’s a fan in the living room, you can cool off there first.”

Old Man Zhao said as he headed to the kitchen.

“Wife, go cool off with the fan. I’ll heat some water for you so you can take a bath.”

His wife liked cleanliness and was also sensitive to heat.

Meng Yunhan turned and went to cool off with the fan; goodness, it was indeed quite hot.

Old Man Zhao prepared cold noodles for them quickly.

“You must be hungry, eat first.”

A big bowl of noodles was swiftly finished by Meng Yunhan; over the years, she hadn’t changed much–she just looked more mature and charming.

“Old man, in a couple of days, we’ll return to Kyoto.”

Now, Meng Yunhan’s two-story building was arguably the most beautiful in the town; ever since this house went up, many have tried to copy it, but they could only replicate the exterior, not the interior.

There were walls topped with broken glass and a red iron gate.

Inside the living room hung a calligraphy saying, Home and Prosperity.

Old Man Zhao thought, school isn’t far from starting.

“Alright.”

His return to town these days had indeed livened up the house.

Meng Yunhan ate the cold noodles, took a hot bath, and then had a nap. When she woke up, the sun had already set.

“Why did I sleep for so long?” Meng Yunhan muttered softly upon waking and seeing Yun Hao.

Seeing his wife sleeping so soundly, how could Yun Hao bear to disturb her?

“You must be hungry; Dad made your favorite dishes.” His wife liked vegetables, and they always remembered, even in winter, Old Man Zhao would buy vegetables despite the high prices.

“Alright.”

The next day, they got up early, had breakfast, and drove back to Qingzhao Village.

Suddenly, an SUV appeared on the road, drawing some attention.

The car went straight to Qingzhao Village, arriving at the entrance of the village.

As soon as the couple stepped out of the car, several onlookers instantly recognized them.

It was also because the couple had changed so little over the years; had there been major changes, they might not have been recognized.

“Meng Zhiqing.”

Meng Yunhan called out smilingly.

She also handed out candies to the children.

Candies are mostly available during weddings or the New Year; they are hard to come by at other times.
