Chapter 25: Monkey Stealing Peaches

With a single leap, the Heaven Swallowing Toad landed several hundred feet away. Its hops made it seem like it was flying as it moved at very high speeds. However, once the QIn cousins put their full power into their Agility Spell, they easily caught up with it.

Luckily, they carried a Demon Locating Talisman on them. This was a talisman that was passed on secretly within the Beastmaster sect. Out of the entire Qin family, only Qin LOng and the family patriarch would occasionally craft a few.

This spiritual talisman was not a high-grade talisman but using it to find low level demonic beasts through their aura was very convenient.

Qin Feng and his cousin headed first to the place where the Heaven Swallowing Toad ate the red-banded snake earlier and used the Demon Locating Talisman to collect some of the aura left behind by the toad. Once they did, all they needed to do was to follow the talisman.

However, because this Heaven Swallowing Toad was small in size and very quick, some of the areas that it went through were extremely remote. Qin Feng and Qin Yang did not dare to follow it too closely in case the toad discovered their presence and ran away into the deeper parts of Qifeng Mountain. If that happened, they would not dare to follow it.

Since the deeper parts of Qifeng Mountain had powerful large demons, even Qin Long would not dare to enter, let alone the cousins. They followed the Heaven Swallowing Toad round and round until they once again reached the area where the Huang family was in charge of exterminating demonic beasts.

Qin Yang frowned and asked in a low voice, “Is that spiritual toad very valuable? If it is a common type, let’s not continue to chase it. Otherwise, if we bumped into the Huang family men, we might get into another big fight!”

“This spiritual toad was the beast that sneaked into our family’s spiritual orchard and ate all the spiritual fruits. I really want to capture it,” Qin Feng continued, “As for the Huang family, there’s no need to be too concerned. The outskirts of Qifeng Mountain are divided into zones that are a couple of hundred miles apart. It would be hard to bump into them in such a large area. Furthermore, even if we did meet them, they would not dare to do anything to us.

“However, even if they really wanted to fight, we have no reason to be afraid. Brother Yang, did you forget that Master Li gave me two talismans, I still have the Frozen Ice Sword Talisman.”

Qin Yang stared at Qin Feng and had absolutely no words. He had no idea what plans his little cousin was hatching. Was all of this really because he wanted to catch that spiritual toad? However, based on the outstanding swords skills that Li Tianchou displayed that night, that talisman was not to be underestimated.

Furthermore, Li Tianchou said that talisman could be used to defeat a Foundation Establishment Stage cultivator. If it was really as powerful as he said, even if they bumped into the Huang family patriarch they did not have to worry.

Since Huang Tingyuan was only at the Foundation Establishment Stage, if he really had any evil intentions towards them, they could test the power of the Frozen Ice Sword talisman on him. Then they could see if the Huang family would continue to be so arrogant if they lost their patriarch.

Once he thought about this, Qin Yang started to relax. He stopped worrying and plodded on silently behind the Demon Locating Talisman to find the tracks of the Heaven Swallowing Toad.

It was then when they suddenly heard the sound of killing coming from right ahead of them. They were both stunned, they did not expect that they would actually bump into the Huang family.

As they focused their gaze ahead, they could see in the forest in front of them, seven to eight Huang family cultivators were teaming up to battle against a group of monkey demons. There were about 10-20 monkey demons in that group. Each of them agile, with claws striking fast like lightning and moving as fast as the wind. They would unpredictably stretch out their sharp claws aiming for the cultivators’ eyes, throat, heart, and nether region, all the vital areas.

However, the thing that really caught their attention was not the monkey demons but the spiritual tree behind the group of monkey demons. It was a Saturn Peach Tree. There were hundreds upon hundreds of Saturn Peaches. Even though some of the peaches were still unripe, they were not long from ripening.

It looked like the monkey demons were protecting this Saturn Peach Tree. Otherwise, they would not have battled these cultivators. Qin Feng took one look and stopped. Instead, he continued to search carefully for that Heaven Swallowing Toad.

After a while, they discovered the toad sprawled among the grass under a large tree. Its green body appeared to have become one with the grass. It lay there quietly, motionless. If one did not look closely it would be impossible to tell that there was a spiritual toad lying there.

As both sides were too engrossed in the intense battle, neither had noticed that there was another very faint demon aura outside the battleground. When Qin Feng saw that the Demon Locating Talisman was still flying in the direction of the Heaven Swallowing Toad’s aura, he quickly stretched his hand to grab and extinguish its spiritual light. In an instant, the entire talisman turned to ash.

Qin Feng quickly checked around him while tugging at Qin Yang. They tiptoed to a tree dense with leaves and scurried up it. Through the gaps between the leaves, they observed as the battle developed.

On the battleground, the killing never stopped. However, they were demon beasts after all. Even though they knew cultivation methods, their cultivation level was still weaker. Their intelligence was also not too high. How could they compare to a family of cultivators?

These people who came to exterminate demon beasts did not come unprepared. Among them, one of the cultivators even brought a spiritual net along. As he activated the net and threw it out, the spiritual net that was originally the size of a palm instantly transformed into a huge size. In mere seconds, the net had captured several monkey demons and this was when the cultivators took the opportunity to step in and kill them.

This single move caused the number of monkey demons to reduce by almost 30%. However, this move angered the rest of the monkey demons. Seeing their companions being killed, the rest of the monkey demons saw red and started screeching loudly. In a crazed frenzy, they retaliated.

However, these monkey demons could only rely on their own body’s magical ability to attack, unlike the cultivators who could use various magical tools.

The Huang family cultivators were divided into two groups. Those that were naturally gifted in crafting tools were trained in the art of crafting spiritual tools and magical swords. The others without natural talent in crafting magical tools would then train in the sword cultivation method.

Sword cultivation method may not bring much income to the family, but it could protect the family as they were more powerful in comparison. Among those 8 cultivators, 5 of them were sword cultivators and the other 3 were tool refiners that carried big hammers.

Even though their level was nothing compared to true tool refiners, the hammers in their hands were all spiritual tools. When used, their power was tremendous. If any one of the monkeys were hit by it, it would shatter bones and crush tendons, killing them instantly.

Around 15 minutes later, they had managed to kill off most of the monkey demons as the Huang family cultivators attacked frequently. However, there were two unusually shrewd monkey demons that had managed to escape in the confusion, running off into the woods without leaving a trace.

Even though they won this battle, the Huang cultivators’ victory did not come easily. There were many of the clan members who had gouges all over their bodies from being scratched by the extremely sharp claws of the spiritual monkeys. Some were so deep, you could see bone.

Once they saw that those 2 monkey demons had escaped, in that instant they gritted their teeth and grimaced in pain. They dropped their bums onto the ground and let their companions tend to their wounds.

The rest of them fared a little better. However, there two others who had their features ruined by the attack. Another one that fared worse had a bloodied thigh where his flesh had been torn to shreds. It was a mess. If he had not managed to hide in time, the trick ‘monkey stealing peaches’ might have been performed on him.

However, all these people were cultivators. Their injuries were only skin deep, merely external injuries. They could use spiritual energy to seal the wounds and once they applied some spiritual elixirs that could regenerate flesh and stop bleeding, they would be as good as new in a few days’ time. They would not even have scars.

As the Huang family were treating their wounds while excitedly discussing how they would transport this spiritual Saturn Peach Tree back home for replanting, a shadowy figure suddenly flashed before them. After that, they noticed that among all the monkey demon carcasses that they have slaughtered, one was missing.
