Seeing that he couldn’t get anything more out of Anna about the demon, the chief cardinal and Bishop Christopher looked at each other, and then continued: “So how much do you know about The Abyss?”

Anna didn’t answer, asking instead, “How much do you know?”

Her question nearly caused the chief cardinal to laugh out of anger. Someone of his status did not need to personally interrogate heretics. When facing him, no one would be as disrespectful as Anna was, even daring to ask questions back.

“Anna, remember that you are the heretic being questioned; there is no room for you to ask questions here!” the chief cardinal snapped.

Anna said: “Your Excellency, let me make it clear. If it wasn’t for the sake of the entire Human Realm, I would not be interested in talking nonsense to you here. I want to save the Human Realm just like you do. On this matter, we are comrades in the same trenches, and I think it’s reasonable to share what we know.”

“How dare you!” the chief cardinal yelled angrily, and as his words fell, two priests stepped forward and held Anna’s shoulders, forcing her to kneel down.

Anna was very obedient and didn’t struggle against them at all.

She was just trying to see if she could get information a little bit more equally, but if she couldn’t, then forget it. With so many five-star mages around, she would be asking for trouble if she was too stubborn.

“I’ll ask you again, how much do you know about The Abyss?” the chief cardinal said impatiently.

Anna replied honestly: “I have been to The Abyss once. It’s a place full of chaos, and there are turbulent currents from unknown sources that will attack those in it. Once you enter, it is very difficult to escape, even with the strength of a Grand Duke.”

In order to avoid suspicion, Bishop Christopher didn’t ask too deeply about The Abyss. Now, as he was listening to Anna speak, he recalled some things in the Demon Realm, so he asked, “Was the Grand Duke of Hubilis unconscious for that reason?”

Anna nodded and said, “That’s right. Moreover, I saw some other things in The Abyss.”

“What?” The chief cardinal asked with a frown.

Anna didn’t say directly: “I want to know the information you have, which will help me judge which information is indeed relevant and important.”

She boldly took another step that might get her killed. Of course, if the other party refused to speak, she would back down immediately; she didn’t want to suffer needlessly.

Seeing that the chief cardinal seemed to want to punish Anna for not cooperating, Bishop Christopher immediately said: “Bishop Conrad, I think it is very likely that we will need Mage Anna to cooperate with us to go to the Demon Realm in the future, and her family is still in the Human Realm. The first thing she did when she returned to the Human Realm was to find her family. She definitely would not let her family die from a Demon Realm invasion; I think we can let her know what we know.”

Bishop Conrad thought for a moment. What he thought was that this heretic would not be able to escape from them anyway, so it was okay to let her know. Thus, he nodded and said, “What Bishop Christopher said is exactly what I think as well.”

Then he looked at Anna and said: “Recently, there has been a demon eye in the line of life and death that is very similar to The Abyss you mentioned, and it is gradually expanding. Its expansion also caused the line of life and death to move outward. If it cannot be controlled, the demonic creatures inside will migrate outward along the line of life and death, resulting in the death and injury of many innocent civilians.”

All the five-star mages present had heard about this matter, and their faces darkened when they heard it again.

This was a major event related to the entire Human Realm. No one could stay out of it.

“We found a prophecy in the ancient books of the Vatican, which is related to this. The prophecy said: When the eye of the demon becomes insatiable, the innocent lambs will usher in their end. Only by satisfying its greed will salvation come.”

Bishop Conrad slowly repeated the prophecy from the ancient book with a serious expression. He looked at Anna and said: “The eye of the demon refers to the demon’s eye within the line of life and death. Its greed needs to be filled, and only by demons.”

Anna was shocked by his logic; this was not logical at all!

Moreover, where did this freaking prophecy come from? The Goddess of Light did not exist, so wasn’t this prophecy just randomly fabricated by the so-called “sages”?

Anna retorted: “If The Abyss is very similar to the demon’s eye, then it is impossible for you to fill the demon’s eye with demons. That kind of place…”

When Anna said this, she suddenly remembered the illusion she saw in The Abyss.

She glanced at her palm. The dark red mark was still there and hadn’t faded away.
