Chapter 50: The Man In The Snake

Wham!

Like black lightning thundering down from the heavens, Lin Chao’s Goldenized fist crashed against the giant red-scaled snake’s head. Plummeting with his supersonic speed and the help of gravity his attack disallowed any chance for the serpent to react.

A metallic clunk rang when the red lamella on the snake’s head met Lin Chao’s Goldenized fist. Its head which stood tall plunged down, hitting the cement floor of the alley harshly.

Lin Chao landed on its head and swung his fist up to deal another punch.

The muscles of his Goldenized arm swelled, a tidal wave of strength that was double his physique gushed from his arm!

Bang!

The vermillion scales on the giant red-scaled snake’s head sunk at once, blood poured from the gaps of the scales. The snake’s head quaked the cement floor as it thumped with a cracking sound of its skull breaking.

The pang of pain triggered the serpent to struggle in berserk, writhing as it hissed and shaking Lin Chao off of its head. Stretching its jaws open, a jet of flame suddenly burst from the back of its throat, spurting out like molten lava.

Stunned momentarily, Lin Chao fluttered his wings once again to the giant red-scaled snake’s head and landed another punch.

Boom!

As the punch hit its target, the giant red-scaled serpent’s head was promptly knocked to one side. A lava-like flame that jetted from its mouth, shooting toward the building in front like a fiery laser. Thunderous bangs and cracks instantaneously blared from the anti-theft windows, as the molten flame charged into the tower and set the whole building in flames.

Witnessing the devastating damaging ability, Lin Chao was baffled. The gigantic snake was probably a manipulator of fire and had evolved twice to thrice. Otherwise, it would not have been able to control such a huge flame. Its evolutionary intelligence was not high, thus it did not know how to control the element yet, otherwise its damaging power could at least be brought up ten times more!

The giant red-scaled snake immediately weakened after spraying the fire.

Seizing the opportunity, Lin Chao pounced again to punch the reptile continuously with his Goldenized right arm, instantly debilitating the snake to the state of unconscious twitching and spasms.

Despite being in a promising turn of events, Lin Chao was troubled. If he had a spear, he could have pierced it to death!

The extended period of battle had exhausted Lin Chao’s Golden stream. He unlatched himself from the Goldenized state, his eyes and right arm recovering to their initial exterior. The Golden stream was a form of genetic energy and its replenishment would be hastened with some food.

Lin Chao dropped himself down slowly, looking at the giant red-scaled snake that was on the brink of death. He withdrew his Modified Dragon Wings back into his body. He pulled out the fireman’s axe and pried through the seven-inch thick scale of the serpent. When a thin gap appeared between the scale and the flesh it was closely stuck to, he grabbed the scale and tore it down.

The blood and flesh was a gory sight behind the scale.

Using the fireman’s axe, Lin Chao hacked down on the flesh. Other than the genetic zest that was precious, there were a number of useful things within this giant red-scaled snake.

Its tough scales could be made into armor with defense parallel to steel yet being lighter. In addition, they were also highly temperature resistant, one would not feel the heat even when standing by the volcano as these scales were flame resistant.

There were also its fangs and the venom sacs behind them. Even if the giant red-scaled snake was not a venomous species to begin with, the venom it possessed after mutation was at least three times more poisonous than a cobra’s. A sliver of the venom applied to a weapon could kill most mutated beasts!

As Lin Chao dissected the serpent, Lin Shiyu and Fan Xiangyu heaved a sigh of relief when they saw that the battle was over, and pulled Ye Fei along to go near the man and reptile carefully.

Ye Fei let them drag her, her mind still empty.

She was stupefied.

A ginormous snake… that could spit fire… A human’s back… that grew wings…

Everything was topsy-turvy. What she had just witnessed was twisted and her brain could not keep up. If it were not for the massive carcass of the snake on the floor, she absolutely would have thought she was dreaming.

“Is… it dead?” Fan Xiangyu asked in a tiny voice coming to the snake’s tail.

Lin Chao was squatted by the snake’s head as he continued prying it, answering casually, “Come over, it’s okay.”

Assured, both girls jogged to him and turned brave swiftly when they were certain that the giant was indeed dead. Fan Xiangyu patted the snake’s scales; the touch was not cool but boiling. She tried to pull one scale apart to have a taste of the meat inside.

In spite of it, the scale was tough like steel. Exerting her full strength, she barely heaved one piece out. She cried in her mind. ‘What a scary monster and it was killed so easily by this devil. To overturn his ruling over me… I don’t see a possible day anytime soon!’

Gloomily, Fan Xiangyu wrenched the scale and yanked some meat from inside to chew it forcefully, staining her mouth with fresh blood. It was a striking visual which contrasted her fair chin.

Lin Shiyu nudged her and cried, “Why are you eating raw meat? Doesn’t it taste bad?”

“Of course not. It tastes much better than those foods you humans make. You’ll know when you try it, the taste of raw meat and blood is sweet!” Fan Xiangyu answered with wild interest as she rubbed the corners of her mouth.

Lin Shiyu commented with despise. “So tasteless!”

Ye Fei was still lost listening to their conversation. Eating raw snake meat? Raw meat and blood tasting sweet? Were they really humans?

Toiling, Lin Chao finally cut open the gigantic serpent’s head and collected its two fangs and venom sacs, keeping them in the alternate dimension space.

Then, he moved to anatomize its body.

Tugging its scales piece after piece and skinning the reptile, Lin Chao then sliced the flesh with his fireman’s axe in search of its genetic zest. It was not an easy chore based on the snake’s size. Lin Chao would have to cut open each piece of flesh or else he would miss it.

He could not help envying a Sensory Evolved at this point in time. If he had a Sensory Evolved within him, he could find the location of the genetic zest in a blink of eyes, optimizing much of his time and effort.

After two laborious hours, Lin Chao finally found the genetic zest in the abdomen of the snake’s upper body. To his delight, the genetic zest was sizeable, about the size of two fists, and it was dark silver!

Lin Shiyu’s physique could not sustain a dark silver genetic zest, so Lin Chao had a feast without saving her any.

As he consumed the item, he felt his body heating up; his cells and blood were simmering. A few minutes later, Lin Chao could feel his physique gradually increase to twenty-three times. – It had gone up three times!

The effect brought Lin Chao to an exceptional glee. His current physique had reached its bottleneck and the evolution nucleus from special zombies that had only evolved once could no longer satisfy him; he needed at least twenty to thirty nuclei to elevate physique once more, and each time he was enhanced, the requirement multiplied.

The dark silver genetic zest was nearly comparable to two hundred special zombies’ evolution nuclei!

Lin Chao clapped in content and crouched down again to continue cutting the reptile.

As Lin Chao went along the large serpent’s over ten meters long stomach, he saw ample human corpses. These remains were corroded into strange shapes by the stomach acid, barely recognizable as mankind. Other than that, he saw a naked human with an intact body; the clothes were eroded but the body was unscathed. The person was probably just swallowed.

Lin Chao simply shoved the corpse away and was prepared to resume his labor when an astonishing scene happened. The dead body that Lin Chao sent rolling suddenly picked his hands up to rub his eyes, grumbling, “Stop it, your bro’s sleeping…”
