“Pet System? That’s quite something!” Night Flyer spoke, “I didn’t even know this game had a pet system. I thought they were only for display.”

“What do you mean?” Li Huailin asked him.

“Actually, some of our guild members have also found a couple of pet eggs, they’ve also managed to hatch those same eggs. However, only white-name pets without any attributes appeared. To put in simple terms, they’re just for display. Because a player just found a Bronze-grade pet egg, there must be more advanced ones like Silver-grade and Gold-grade eggs,” Night Flyer explained to him. “I guess Bronze-grade pets are battle pets, they should be rare since white pet eggs are hard to find, not to mention the more advanced ones. Take note, that player just found the first Bronze-grade egg across servers. In the entire Chinese region where there are close to a hundred million players.”

“Pet System…” Li Huailin’s eyes suddenly lit up. He believed that a pet could accompany him as long as he stayed in this game, he should try to get one when his stats were still abnormally high, and thus, he would have a huge advantage over others.

“The maintenance is going to start very soon. Everyone, we’ll have an offline meeting later with the president in the company,” Night Flyer said to his men.

“No problem.” Spiritual World Fire Head nodded in agreement.

“Talk to you later.” Li Huailin had forgotten about his plans of selling the Fire Essence to them, all he could think right now was about having a pet.

After Night Flyer and his men went offline, only Li Huailin and Red Face Drinks Water were left in the group.

“The maintenance will take around 8 hours and the servers probably won’t reopen until 5 tomorrow,” Red Face Drinks Water complained. She got up at noon and spent the past several hours on the dreary grinding…

“There’s nothing we can do about it. Let’s go offline,” Li Huailin said with a smile.

“Okay… You’ll take me somewhere interesting tomorrow, right?” Red Face Drinks Water asked him.

“We’ll see, I will if I have time, I can’t guarantee that it’s gonna be very interesting though,” Li Huailin told her. “I’ll still find a pet egg tomorrow, you can follow me if you want to.”

“It’s going to be fun following you,” Red Face Drinks Water immediately replied.

“Okay then, I’m going offline now,” Li Huailin said while waving his hand.

“Bye, brother-in-law. Sleep well,” said Red Face Drinks Water.

“Okay.”

After going offline, Li Huailin checked the system time — 6: 55. He took out a few instant foods from the fridge and opened the official website of ‘Heart of Glory’ in order to see the information on the new version of the game.

To his surprise, the official website was also under maintenance. A notice was posted:

The system is currently under maintenance. The estimated time is 8 hours. Please wait for the official announcement for more information.

Li Huailin guessed that the maintenance staff were also working on the detailed information about the new version. He believed that the website would be available much sooner than the game itself.

Li Huailin then opened the forums. Fortunately, the forum was still available and active.

He spotted the pinned thread immediately when he entered since it was about the Pet System. The post was written by a very rational player because it contained some detailed information about this new system. To Li Huailin’s surprise, this analysis turned out to be very similar to Night Flyer’s speculation. The player was convinced that pets in the game would be divided into different grades: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Epic and Legend. These combat pets in the game would help players in battles.

He searched on the forum and found that many lucky players were showing off their pets. There were birds, wolves, and even baby elementals. Although they did look quite cute, they were still not very attractive to Li Huailin. He believed that practicality must come first, not appearance.

Since the game was still under maintenance, most posts on the forum were only the players’ guesses. Li Huailin casually browsed through the posts. At this time, he accidentally ran into one of the unpleasant threads mentioned by his friend. These threads tried every possible way to humiliate Li Huailin, and they were all posted by some players with weird names. In fact, the posts had great details as if they saw those things with their own eyes.

Li Huailin remembered Red Dust Misty Rain’s words that land titles could also be bought using meritorious rewards. So he tried searching “battleground”, “meritorious rewards”, and “military exploits”.
