Chapter 445: Chapter 430: It Looks Like You Are Making Things Hard for Me, Fat Tiger (3rd update! Vote for monthly tickets!)
Li Hua Grandma walked out of the cave, her heavy shotgun in hand.
She had been playing Holy Spirit for almost a month now. Since she started playing, her back no longer ached, her legs stopped hurting, and she could climb thirty flights of stairs without getting winded.
It wasn’t just an exaggeration, after playing Holy Spirit, Li Hua Grandma truly felt much younger, not just physically, but mentally too.
Li Hua Grandma spent years roaming the swamps of Biland Island, and it could be said that she had killed all the creatures on the island except for those at the lord level. She had even slaughtered some lord-level dragons with less health.
The only thing Li Hua Grandma had yet to do in the game was… PK!
She didn’t quite understand the rules young people had when playing games, so she wouldn’t start trouble on her own. But now that trouble had come knocking, she was determined to experience the thrill of PK in the game!
“Who? Is it you?”
As soon as she exited the cave, Li Hua Grandma saw Zhao Mingwei carrying someone on his shoulder.
Although Li Hua Grandma felt Zhao Mingwei looked familiar, she didn’t recognize him… Without a second thought, she aimed her shotgun at Zhao Mingwei.
“Qiuqiu! Bite him!” Li Hua Grandma commanded her pet, the Dragon Vein Sabertooth Tiger.
The sabertooth tiger named Qiuqiu looked quite majestic as it growled ‘Awoo! Awoo!’ at Zhao Mingwei, but then Zhao Mingwei’s gaze suddenly met its eyes.
At the moment Qiuqiu’s stare met Zhao Mingwei’s, the battle-hardened sabertooth tiger instinctively realized what would happen if it bit Zhao Mingwei.
In an instant, instead of its previously fierce growling, it whimpered, scared, rolled behind Li Hua Grandma, shaking uncontrollably and started ‘whining’, looking like a ‘fat otaku bursting into tears’.
“What’s wrong, Qiuqiu?” Li Hua Grandma didn’t quite understand why her pet was so scared when it usually wouldn’t even fear dragons twice its size.
“Let me handle this, madam.”
Rosh hurriedly ran out from the cave at this moment, dragging the tied-up Silver General with her.
The person sitting on Zhao Mingwei’s shoulder was one of her team members, who served as the engineer. Upon seeing Rosh, the team member shouted with fear.
“Captain! Save me!”
“Quiet! Holy Spirit! We can exchange hostages!” Rosh yelled loudly at Zhao Mingwei.
In Rosh’s eyes, Zhao Mingwei had kidnapped her teammate to exchange for the Silver General.
But when Zhao Mingwei saw Rosh, he immediately threw her engineer teammate next to her…
As Rosh watched her tied-up teammate roll next to the Silver General, she was briefly stunned.
“I’m sorry to meet you this way, but I just wanted to ask about… the whereabouts of your brother,” Zhao Mingwei shouted to Rosh from a distance after tossing the engineer next to her.
“My brother’s whereabouts? You didn’t kidnap my teammate to exchange for him?” Rosh was baffled.
“Silver Boss? This… do you want me to save you, Silver Boss?”
Zhao Mingwei seemed to have just found out that the Silver General had been kidnapped by Rosh.
He had been investigating the whereabouts of the Eternal, Hilze’er.
Since the Holy Spirit challenge where Hilze’er was defeated, he had vanished from Holy Spirit City, and none of the players Zhao Mingwei asked had seen this Eternal.
This prompted Zhao Mingwei to reluctantly seek out Rosh’s teammates for information. Unfortunately, none of them were willing to speak to Zhao Mingwei, and so, he resorted to this method to extract information about Rosh’s whereabouts.
As for the Silver General being kidnapped by Rosh… if the Silver General requested, Zhao Mingwei would spare no effort to rescue him from her clutches.
After all, Mr. Yin owed Zhao Mingwei a favor.
“No need, I’m used to it,” Mr. Yin shook his head, indicating that in gaming, he could actually accept having a few more adventures like this. If he felt uncomfortable, he could simply log off.
“That’s what he said,” Zhao Mingwei continued to shout to Rosh, “I have no intention of going to war with you, I just want to know my brother’s whereabouts.”
“I’m sorry, Holy Spirit, I don’t know where my brother is. He’s not in my squad, so I don’t have the authority to interfere with his actions,” Rosh also shouted back at Zhao Mingwei from a distance.
“Then I won’t bother you anymore,” Zhao Mingwei said, hearing Rosh’s answer and not intending to continue the inquiry.
Zhao Mingwei had always been weak in interpersonal communication. During his time as captain of Overlords of the Sky, it was Qi Junzi who inspired the team, while Zhao Mingwei was responsible for battlefield command and pointing out mistakes on the field.
As a result, the charm and eloquence of the account Zhao Mingwei weren’t very high, so… if Rosh truly didn’t want to talk, Zhao Mingwei didn’t have much of a choice.
Because Rosh wasn’t Hilze’er, that reclusive Eternal, Rosh had been getting along well in Holy Spirit City over the past half month, and many players liked this genuine, powerful NPC with a strong sense of justice.
If Zhao Mingwei’s pursuit of Hilze’er’s trail was to protect Holy Spirit City and the real world, then… Rosh was also someone he needed to protect.
“Young man, are you leaving just like that? Not going to fight?” Granny Li Hua hurriedly asked when she saw Zhao Mingwei turning to leave.
“Granny Li Hua, the game Holy Spirit doesn’t really encourage random PKing… If you’re interested in PK, you might want to check out the arena,” Zhao Mingwei advised Granny Li Hua. “The entrance is in the real world’s Lionheart City, you can just ask around for the specific location once you’re there.”
As an older Holy Spirit in the true sense, Zhao Mingwei offered some advice to the old lady. He had spent the morning searching for traces of the Eternal Hilze’er, even posting on forums asking many of the veteran users, yet he found no clues.
Now that it was noon, Zhao Mingwei should consider what to eat for lunch, and with the lifting of the live broadcast ban, he also needed to think about how to repay his breach of contract.
However… since Zhao Mingwei couldn’t find any trace of Hilze’er on the map of Biland Island, perhaps it was time to search Black Tide Island? This gave Zhao Mingwei an unpleasant premonition.
Rosh watched as Zhao Mingwei departed, then released the engineer’s ropes with her hands.
“Captain, we should call for support to assist us! We can’t handle the Holy Spirits here,” the engineer insisted on requesting help, but a look from Rosh silenced him.
As Rosh was conversing with the engineer, Granny Li Hua was also instructing Mr. Yin on matters related to the holographic exhibition conference.
“Mr. Lu, this holographic exhibition conference combines virtual reality technology, and they’ve specially used the basketball court and the drills field for holographic displays. The game Holy Spirit has dedicated a venue for exhibition. Your characters, when they go to the corresponding location in Wuda in the other world, will appear in reality, so will your team’s kids use Conflict to present, or Holy Spirit?”
As one of the organizers, Granny Li Hua was clear on the technical aspects. She was well-informed about the specific arrangements and content of the conference, which included an exhibition where the other world of Holy Spirit intersected with reality.
“Both will be used. For Holy Spirit, our guild will arrange dedicated personnel for the exhibition. For Conflict, we are more inclined toward fan signing events. You can be assured that I will collaborate actively with the organizers,” Mr. Yin replied seriously when it came to crucial points, but he quickly sensed something off.
For the ever-upright Rosh… upon hearing Mr. Yin’s and Granny Li Hua’s conversation, unexpectedly revealed her craftier side.
“Madam, I would also like to participate in that exhibition. How can I do that?” Rosh asked.
“You want to come too? Which city do you live in, in reality?” Granny Li Hua couldn’t tell whether Rosh was a player or an NPC, but she just felt that Rosh was a good girl, a suitable candidate for a wife.
“City?”
“She’s living abroad! Professor Li Hua, she’s temporarily residing abroad and might not be able to get her visa within a month!” Mr. Yin quickly explained.
“Then you can participate through the game… The Wuda area in the game seems to be occupied by my grandson’s guild. I can ask him about it later,” Granny Li Hua said, clearly distinguishing things related to the other world.
“Thank you, madam… Is there anything I can help you with?”
Seeing the opportunity, Rosh led Granny Li Hua away from Mr. Yin. With his hands bound, Mr. Yin could only lie on the ground and watch as Rosh and Granny Li Hua walked away.
But soon enough, Rosh ran back and untied the ropes binding Mr. Yin.
