Chapter 6: Agreement

“A handgun, huh?” As Ye Yang stared at the gun, a playful smile appeared on his face. Although it surprised Ye Yang that Huang Ruobing could pull out a gun, the situation wasn’t exactly hard for him to deal with. Even more so now that Ye Yang had something as ethereal as the Kunlun Mirror.

‘Then I’ll try it out on you today,’ Ye Yang mused inwardly without giving anything away on his expression.

Just then, everything around Ye Yang seemed to have frozen up. Everyone was rooted to the spot without moving a muscle.

Time halt.

Ye Yang now had time to pay attention to the people around him. He leisurely strolled around these people before casually taking the gun out of Huang Ruobing’s hand. After toying with it briefly, Ye Yang finally undid this frozen state.

While he was still curious about the limitations, Ye Yang didn’t forget the Kunlun Mirror’s warning about every activation depleting his lifespan. Since ancient times, no one would ever complain about living too long a life.

Once the time halt was undone, the expressions of everyone around came to life again with Huang Ruobing’s being the first to change.

Huang Ruobing was currently shocked beyond words. She couldn’t fathom how her gun had suddenly appeared in Ye Yang’s hand. And even if Ye Yang had some trick up his sleeve he would never clear her confusion right here and now.

Before Huang Ruobing could voice out her puzzlement, Ye Yang commented on their current predicament with a smile.

“Now, it looks like I call the shots between us.”

Ye Yang watched Huang Ruobing with an amused expression. But it wasn’t because he was pleased with himself, instead, he felt the urge to put in some distasteful teasing upon seeing her expression.

Huang Ruobing didn’t appreciate Ye Yang’s sense of humor at all because she was too busy staring down the barrel of the pistol which he was pointing at her. Mere seconds ago, she was the one behind this gun.

“I’d advise you to put the gun down. That thing isn’t a toy.” The feeling of being pointed at by a gun wasn’t remotely pleasant. In fact, Huang Ruobing was feeling increasingly anxious.

Although it didn’t seem like Ye Yang wanted to kill her, otherwise, he wouldn’t have talked to her for so long, Huang Ruobing was worried about an accidental discharge.

Ye Yang didn’t say anything. He obviously didn’t take Huang Ruobing’s advice to heart as he stared at her smilingly while he worked his hands.

Huang Ruobing watched with widened eyes as Ye Yang swiftly dissembled the gun before quickly reassembling it back. It was evident how familiar he was with this weapon.

After watching Ye Yang perform, Huang Ruobing went silent for a moment. This was a clear display of power to them. With so many of her men around, it was hard to even touch this gun, much less being able to use it so skillfully.

And through Ye Yang’s movements, this clearly wasn’t his first time dissembling the weapon.

“Who exactly are you?” Huang Ruobing couldn’t resist asking about his identity after being surprised by how skillfully Ye Yang handled the gun.

However, Ye Yang wasn’t in the mood to satisfy Huang Ruobing’s curiosity. Instead, he watched her with a smug expression.

Just as Huang Ruobing was about to give up expecting an answer from Ye Yang, she heard a question from him…

“Now, can I become your boyfriend?”

Upon hearing the question, Huang Ruobing’s expression darkened slightly. She never expected to hear such a question from him.

“Are you playing with me?” There was a peculiar look on her face. “My situation…” ‘Who doesn’t know of it?’

Being born into such a family, her marriage was destined to be used as a sacrifice and she was not supposed to show any dissatisfaction about it.

By studying her expression, it didn’t take long for Ye Yang to realize that Huang Ruobing had misunderstood him. “I can pretend to be your boyfriend,” he said.

The was an indescribable sense of persuasion behind Ye Yang’s gaze. Huang Ruobing allowed herself to calm down and contemplated the possibility of this plan working successfully.

“I can help you get rid of He Dong.”

Upon hearing this, Huang Ruobing looked surprised. She did not expect Ye Yang to say something like this.

“Let me think about it.”

Huang Ruobing turned away from Ye Yang and slowly sat down to consider her options. Admittedly she had begun to waver. Her engagement with He Dong was merely an exchange of benefits anyway so Huang Ruobing didn’t have any feelings for him. This made Ye Yang’s offer very tempting for her.

When he saw how Huang Ruobing was willing to consider his offer, Ye Yang was almost certain that the deal would be sealed. A woman has many ways to persuade herself to go through with an undesired marriage, but now that a choice had presented itself, Ye Yang was sure that Huang Ruobing would give it a shot. 

Sure enough, after a long pause, Ye Yang heard Huang Ruobing’s answer. “I will agree to it.”

Ye Yang raised his eyebrows slightly. “I look forward to working with you.”

“Likewise.”

The shaking of their hands symbolized the beginning of a pleasant trade.

In fact, the bigger factor that influenced Huang Ruobing to agree to Ye Yang’s proposal was simply the fact that she was curious about him. She was impatient to find out what kind of person he was.

No matter from which angle one looked at the situation, Ye Yang had successfully piqued her curiosity. From their first exchange until the conclusion of their agreement, he was the one in control, and something like this was quite a refreshing experience for Huang Ruobing.

‘You better not disappoint me,’ Huang Ruobing thought to herself as she looked at Ye Yang. Although the worst outcome of this collaboration was that she still had to get married, Ye Yang’s declaration earlier ignited new flames of hope inside her.
