Chapter 4: My First Love

But the seats had filled up before I arrived next to him. Blair’s blaring red hair shook like a horse in front of me. I’m sure she ran to sit next to Camian. Fine. I sat in the back seat behind Camian without worries, then I extended my arm and pressed on his shoulder.

Camian looked at me disapprovingly.

“Just show me your assignment,” I said.

“……”

“Quickly.”

He sighed and placed the theological textbook on my hand. I wrinkled my nose instead of the traditionalthank you. Camian stared at me askance and looked back to the front, his back straightened.

I look at the back of his head wondering how a clear-cut boy became a villain who slaughtered humans? I could not believe it. The gap between this Camian and the future Camian were two polar opposites.

Perhaps because Liv wanted agood friendthat Camian remained dutiful and good despite histsundere-ishways. Sometimes I’d forget he was a demon, a devil. He had never used magic before and he’d eat three meals a day… no different from humans.

And his handsome face and pleasing body… though I did vow to remain friends with Camian, my heart fluttered looking at his face. This can’t be helped. A handsome man was a handsome man.

Camian turned his head toward me feeling my hot gaze, but before our eyes met, I hurriedly dropped my gaze and pretended to do my task. I did not want him to think I was interested.

At this time, someone tapped on my back and greeted me a good morning. I recognized this familiar hand and voice.

“Hi, Liv. What, are you doing a theology assignment?”

“Tessa. You should copy it too.”

I pushed Camian’s textbook slightly to the side. Tessa squealed and quickly joined me. She enthusiastically copied Camian’s assignment.

My hands cried in dismay but I did not rest. I scribbled for dear life, copying Camian’s assignment like there was no tomorrow. But suddenly, the textbook disappeared and the pen was nowhere to be seen. I lifted my head up. Camian flipped the pen around in his fingers as he looked at the textbook poignantly.

“I don’t have time to play. Give it to me quickly.”

Camian’s squinting eyes pulled the textbook closer to him and smirked.

“…Give it to me,” I muttered.”

“You have to do your own work.” He grinned and brought the textbook back to his desk.

I don’t have the time to play around with this fool. My annoyance soared through the roof and I walked to his desk with a crumpled face.

I saw him writing.

Tessa, who had copied Camian’s assignment earlier, went to her seat and began solving the problem on her own. She was having trouble, confused by the question, but here he was, going through the process in a hitch.

I was baffled. Are devils naturally good at theology?

“Here. I did it for you,” Camian said.

I was grateful… and embarrassed because of my temper.

“…I never asked you to do it.”

“You’re welcome,” Camian said curtly. Then he turned around and faced the front.

Tessa flopped around in her desk, shaking off her wrists and copying my finished assignment.

“That’s right. Liv, did you hear?” she asked.

“What?”

“A young professor will be here next semester. He’s a martial arts lecturer. Isn’t that amazing? We’ll have a young professor lecture us about martial arts.”

“…Oh.”

My lukewarm response did not satisfy her. She poked my arm and said, “Isn’t that amazing? What? You can’t speak? Are you mute?”

I could not respond and kept my head down instead. I knew very well who the new martial arts professor was. Not only do I know his name, but his family relationships, colleagues, close friends, favorite food, and was the man weak to animals.

It does sound…stalker-ish…

The new professor was Luke Florence. The mere thought of seeing him in person caused my heart to beat wildly.

“My first love…”

I sat back on my desk and hid my face. I feared that my overwhelming excitement would bounce out at any moment.

“Hah!”

Luke’s arms shook violently, his jaw taut as sweat dropped down from under his temple.

“Just that shout makes me think I’m lifting a house.”

He held a basket of potatoes just above his face and sat on the bench with his long legs stretched out as while he chewed on a bitten apple. His protruding legs twitched as he breathed harshly.
