Autumn Outing (1)

The summer break for sophomores and juniors was unusually short. It lasted a month or so last year, but this year it was only 20 days or so in total.

While most students were buried in their papers in the scorching classroom heat, Experimental No. 3 received another prestigious award.

Two science students won provincial awards this year. After ten days of intensive training, they went to Shanghai to compete in the national competition.

A week later, Qin Yuan, who would soon enter his senior year, won the first prize in the national competition for computer programming.

In the office, Teacher Huai of Class 1 looked overjoyed and talked to her favorite student on the phone. “Are you returning to our city today? Will you attend school tomorrow? The school had received several university acceptance letters. You can take a look at them when you come back.”

The class teacher of Class 2 next to him lamented, “These universities fixed their attention on the top students. Once the national award list comes out, they snatch it quicker than anything else.”

Teacher Huai put away the phone and smiled. “Yes, ah. Qin Yuan just received an award in the physics competition last semester and several olive branches had been thrown here.”

“Then, what is Qin Yuan’s wish? Has he made a decision yet?”

Teacher Huai said politely, “There’s no need to hurry. This child is an all-rounder and a well-balanced student. He has a lot of options to choose from.”

On the other side of the office, Ruan Qingmu was listening to Old Jian’s words absentmindedly and his ears were quietly cocked to the other side.

“Have you considered the class transferring matter? You improved so much from the school returning mock exam. Although you haven’t gotten into the top 100th rank, applying into the honors class shouldn’t be a problem.” Old Jian looked at the handsome Ruan Qingmu in the front and felt unwilling to let him go.

Ruan Qingmu thought it over. “There’s no need for that. I will stay in Class 9.”

Old Jian was stunned. “If you go to the honors class, it will be good for your grades.”

Ruan Qingmu still shook his head. “But didn’t I also already make a lot of progress in Class 9?”

Teacher Huai suddenly interjected, “Not moving up is also good. It’ll be easier to get a good result with less pressure. If he comes to the honors class, he will undoubtedly be at the bottom, which will cause a huge impact on his self-confidence.”

This student should never cross the threshold to her class again. Isn’t he already close enough to the class monitor in her class as is?

They went to the cafeteria together, studied in the evening, and danced onstage. Their original dorm rooms were well-separated, but then she vaguely heard people say that this Ruan Qingmu would sneak down again every night after dorm inspection and sleep in Qin Yuan’s room 106!

Old Jian looked slightly uncomfortable. “Student Ruan Qingmu could raise his grade from 600th to 100th. He could definitely steady himself in the honors class and won’t be at the bottom!”

Ruan Qingmu turned his head to look at Teacher Huai. “Truthfully speaking, the reason why I’m staying is because of you.”

He smiled at Old Jian again. “I only like you as a teacher. Except for your class, I won’t go anywhere else.”

Looking at Ruan Qingmu’s back as he left, Old Jian’s eyes were wet. He had seen people unwilling to leave a remedial class for romance and people working hard for their goddesses and gods, but he had never seen anyone give up going to a good class for the teacher’s sake.

It was worth being a teacher at this point!

Ruan Qingmu carried a pile of Chinese papers Old Jian told him to bring back to class and went downstairs.

The phone vibrated and when he opened it, it was from a particular person. “I will arrive at the school soon.”

Ruan Qingmu’s mouth turned into a smile. He couldn’t type with one hand, so he used his voice to reply, “Didn’t your Teacher Huai tell you to rest at home? Why are you in such a hurry to go to school?”

“The house doesn’t have you.”

Ruan Qingmu almost tripped on the stairs. Fuck. It had already been so long, but once he heard such corny phrases, he still blushed and could not bear it.

“Oh right. Old Jian looked for me for the class transfer matter. I have officially rejected it.”

Over there, Qin Yuan was silent for a moment, his tone indifferent. “Didn’t you already decide yesterday?”

Ruan Qingmu clutched the exam papers and went to the school building, sighing. “You’ve agreed not to be angry.”

“I know. You want to maintain distance, you need to have your life, and you want to have your social circle, right?”

Ruan Qingmu was dumbfounded. “Who said that? After reading those 100 relationship questions from who knows where, what do you imagine all day?”

Qin Yuan’s tone was sullen. “Then, what’s wrong with coming to our honor class?”

Ruan Qingmu looked around and coaxed softly. “Everywhere is good. It’s even better if you’re there. But I’m the sports representative of Class 9. I ran for office myself. You’ve told me that I have to be responsible to the end.”

He and Qin Yuan were both excited to hear Old Jian saying that Ruan Qingmu could transfer to another class, but the news had somehow spread. Several people in the class had come to ask yesterday and after hearing him say that he was interested in transferring to another class, somehow, the whole class had a depressing atmosphere during nighttime self-study.

Bai Jing was silent, Niu Xiaoqing sighed deeply, and Tang Tiantian had watery eyes. He looked at Fang Li unconsciously, whose eyes were as red as a rabbit’s.

Then, Huang Ya ran over and heavily patted his shoulder as if parting from life and death. “Sports representative, feel at ease to go! I hope you have a bright future and can develop your abilities freely. Remember to return home frequently!”

It made him feel slightly dazed and like a scumbag who failed the whole class.
