A mocking smile appeared on Shannon’s lips at the thought of this. A woman whose life revolved around a man probably deserved to be abandoned.

“Hi, may I know how to address you?” A man’s voice suddenly sounded beside Shannon.

She turned her unfocused gaze to look at the stranger beside her. He was quite pleasing to the eye, but she was really sick of such methods of striking up a conversation.

“I’m a lawyer, so you can look for me if you need help with lawsuits in the future. Aside from this, I don’t really want to talk to you.” Shannon opened her bag and handed him her business card.

The man looked at her with admiration. Such a woman was really too attractive.

“This explains the extraordinary aura you exude. Let me introduce myself. I’m Jonah Stevens, the CEO of Stevens Corporation.” Jonah raised his glass and approached Shannon.

Shannon suddenly frowned. It seemed like she really wasn’t suitable for these types of occasions. She really didn’t like socializing.

“I’ve just returned to this city, so I hope you don’t mind that I don’t recognise you, President Stevens.” Shannon raised her wine glass with a charming smile on her face.

“Get me a cheque.” Max cut Jake off. He didn’t care about anything now. He just wanted that woman out of here.

Without asking further, Jake quickly turned around and went to the car outside the hotel to get the cheque.

“Max, don’t you have work to do? Why don’t we go back now?” When Janice saw Shannon on the dance floor and noticed Max staring at Shannon, she felt extremely flustered.

“There’s no hurry. Let’s dance.” Max looked away from Shannon and led Janice to the dance floor.

Janice had no reason to reject him. She could only put on a smile and follow him to the dance floor.

The people on the dance floor retreated when they saw Max and Janice walking over.

“Miss Zanders, how about…”

“Why should we? Are you afraid of Max Wenley? Can’t we just dance?” Shannon didn’t stop moving.

Jonah tightened his grip on her waist when he heard this.

There were only two pairs of people on the dance floor. Max and Janice’s steps were firm, while Shannon’s steps were gentle and beautiful.

Everyone’s eyes were focused on the four of them, and people were whispering about them as well.

Max held Janice’s waist and gradually moved closer to Jonah. The music changed and he pulled Janice’s hand and spun her. After exerting some force, he spun Janice away.

Jonah reacted quickly. He immediately caught Janice, who was spun over, and sent Shannon into Max’s arms.

Janice was confused and frightened, but she had no choice. She had to continue dancing.

Surprise appeared in Shannon’s eyes. She wanted to reject him, but his arm had already circled her waist.

It had been three years, and this was the first time she was so close to him. He was still the same as before, but there was the scent of Janice’s perfume on his suit.

“Max, what are you doing?” Shannon’s voice was trembling.

Max wrapped his arms around her waist and continued dancing. It had been a few years since they last met, but she had lost a lot of weight and her waist had become even smaller.

“Are you short of money?” The man’s cold voice rang in her ears.

Shannon’s dance steps became messy. Although he had the scent of another woman on him, she still couldn’t calm down.
