After Tong Yi was born, her mother felt that raising children would take up too much of her time. Hence, she decided to hold off having a second child for the time being and immediately sent Tong Yi to her mother’s hometown to be raised.

Tong Yi’s grandmother pitied Tong Yi as the little child who had to grow up without her parents by her side. She doted on Tong Yi like she was her precious baby, wanting to make up for the lack of fatherly and motherly love in Tong Yi’s life.

 She knew that they, as parents, were responsible for most of their daughter’s bad life choices. She would often advise her husband to calm down and go easy on their daughter.

As time passed, Tong Yi became more and more rebellious. After being ‘brainwashed’ by her mother’s constant advice, her father’s thoughts gradually changed as well. He no longer wished for his daughter to become a lady, he only wished for her to not stir up any trouble.

Tong Yi’s father was overjoyed when Tong Yi announced that she wanted to get engaged to the second young master of the Lu family. He felt that his daughter had finally grown up. Tong Yi said that she wanted a grand engagement party, so he went to discuss it with the Lu family without hesitation.
