Tong Yi raised her eyes slightly. A pair of clean and shiny leather shoes came into view. She slowly looked up and saw a pair of creaseless, straight trousers, followed by an exquisite black suit. The suit was unbuttoned, revealing a smoky gray shirt. As she continued to look up, a sexy Adam’s apple, a well-defined face, and a pair of dark eyes came into view. “Lu Zhanbei? ”
Lu Zhanbei took two steps closer. His dark and long eyebrows furrowed slightly. “Does it hurt?”
Tong Yi slowly straightened her body. “It’s fine.”
“Let’s go.” As Lu Zhanbei spoke, he walked toward the elevator.
Tong Yi did not move to follow. The pain in her back had not fully subsided. “Where are we going?”
Lu Zhanbei stopped and looked back at Tong Yi. “The hospital.”
Tong Yi was speechless. Why would she go to the hospital for such a small injury? She was not that injured; she just hasn’t recovered from the shock. “No need, I’m fine.”
Lu Zhanbei looked at Tong Yi for a few seconds before he seemed to remember something. “Why are you in such a hurry to find me?”
The man’s serious gaze left Tong Yi at a loss for words. She couldn’t possibly say that she was here to ask for his phone number, right?
“Hmm?” The man’s voice was only slightly raised, but in it was a strong sense of oppression.
In a moment of desperation, Tong Yi remembered a script she had read before and blurted out, “I missed you.”
Perhaps confessing to Lu Zhanbei in front of everyone at the hotel today had made her bold. Tong Yi didn’t feel embarrassed saying such mushy words. She even felt that this was not a bad excuse. She looked at Lu Zhanbei and repeated, “I missed you, so I came.”
Lu Zhanbei’s eyes darkened. He stared at Tong Yi for two seconds and took two steps toward her. He placed his hand on the wall behind her and leaned over, his gaze leveled with hers. “What do you mean?”
Tong Yi was rendered speechless again. Would a normal person ask this sort of question? How was she suppose to answer?
Also, Lu Zhanbei seemed to like to trap her and talk to her. It happened once in the police detention room where he had pinned her against the wall. It happened a second time outside the police station, where he had cornered her against the car. Now, he was trapping her here!
Tong Yi really hated this position. The pressure that he exuded was too great, making her feel extremely submissive. The unique masculine scent wafting off his body was too pleasant, making her heartbeat spiral out of control.
