“Duo!” Lin Shen was taken aback when he clearly saw the person’s outfit and face.

His first reaction was not to approach, but to rapidly retreat while surveying his surroundings.

Although Duo had never shown his strength, with Uncle Xue being so powerful by his side, it was likely that Duo himself wasn’t far behind in capability.

Now, with Uncle Xue’s whereabouts unknown and Duo lying on the ground, life or death uncertain, something major must have happened.

In this godforsaken place, what kind of major event could occur? Eight or nine times out of ten, it was surely an encounter with a formidable Deformed Species.

With his current level of strength, Lin Shen naturally wouldn’t arrogantly believe he could handle a Deformed Species that even Duo and Uncle Xue might not be able to deal with.

Thus, his first thought was to flee as far away as possible to avoid suffering the same fate.

Fortunately, no other Deformed Species could be seen nearby. Lin Shen retreated into a corridor, stealthily peering out to repeatedly scrutinize his surroundings, but detected no sign of any creatures.

“Did the Deformed Species kill him and then leave, or did he run here wounded by a Deformed Species and die?” Lin Shen wondered to himself.

He didn’t immediately run away and vanish because he thought that Duo, seeming to have a significant identity, might possess something valuable on him that could assist in Lin Shen’s current predicament.

Lin Shen had no idea why Lin Wan sent him here, leaving him to fend for himself.

Regardless of the reason, Lin Wan’s previous words were certainly not to be trusted.

His situation was extremely awkward now, not just because the Neutron Star was particularly dangerous, but more importantly because he was an undocumented resident here. If discovered by a Divine Being that he was not one of them, but a stealthily arrived human from the Ancient Realm district, his outcome was unpredictable.

Lin Shen hoped to find something useful on Duo, even if it wasn’t of material value, just gaining some insight into the Celestial Court would be good.

If he could find some truly valuable items, that would be even better.

Lin Shen observed for a long time. Duo remained motionless, as if dead, and no presence of Deformed Species was discovered, yet he still didn’t dare to recklessly approach and take the risk.

After much hesitation, Lin Shen summoned Little Jade.

After Little Jade appeared, he immediately lay flat on the ground. The overpowering gravity made him stick to the ground like a pancake, his face intimately contacting the floor to the point where no matter how hard Little Jade tried, he couldn’t separate his visage from the ground.

Seeing Little Jade about to cry out, Lin Shen quickly covered his mouth, afraid that if Little Jade shouted recklessly, it would attract nearby Deformed Species and bring disaster upon them.

“Don’t make a sound, listen to me,” Lin Shen whispered, squatting next to him: “Our situation is very dangerous, terrible creatures are everywhere nearby, and we could be discovered and killed at any moment. You’ve felt it too; the gravity here is terrifylingly strong. Even Immortals might be no better than ordinary people here, let alone you and me.”

With that, Lin Shen released the hand that had been covering Little Jade’s mouth.

“What in the world is this place? How did you end up here?” Little Jade asked with a grim face, as ever since he had followed Lin Shen, he had never had many good days.

“I’d also like to know what kind of hellish place this is. I was taken here by someone; I have no idea where this is.” Lin Shen looked at the flattened Little Jade, and asked somewhat curiously, “Isn’t your Asura Fork capable of controlling gravity? Can’t you control the gravity here?”

“What ‘control gravity’… mine is gravitational force, okay?” Little Jade said.

“Close enough, doesn’t your gravitational force work then?” Lin Shen inquired.

“Of course it works…”

“Then why aren’t you using it?”

“I… I just didn’t think of it for a moment…” Little Jade said, slowly getting up from the ground. While he still seemed to struggle, at least he wasn’t as pitiful as before.

Lin Shen was somewhat speechless; it was enough that his own memory was bad, but his pet had such short-term memory too.

Little Jade moved his body a bit and murmured while looking around, “What the hell is this place? Why is the gravity so strong? My Super-Base Ghost Body and Super-Base Deity should normally be immune to gravity. Yet here, their effects are very limited as if I’m surrounded by a top-tier Law of Gravity.”

“We’re inside a super massive Neutron Star,” Lin Shen said.

“Neutron Star… and a super massive one…” Little Jade looked extremely troubled: “Who on earth did you offend to end up in a place like this? Being trapped here, it’s simply impossible for us to escape this star. Even a teleporter would be rendered ineffective by the gravity here.”

“Of course, I know that. If we could teleport out, I would have done so already. Would I even need to summon you?” Lin Shen looked at Little Jade and asked: “Since you can control gravitational force, is there a way to weaken the gravitational effect here so that I can use the teleporter?”

“Big Brother, I’m just at Nirvana Level; do you think I can break a top-tier Law of Gravity?” Little Jade looked helpless.

“No worries, if Nirvana Level you can’t handle it, you just need to be promoted to Immortal Level,” Lin Shen said.

“How do I get promoted to Immortal? The resources you’ve given me are not even enough to fill the gaps between my teeth,” Little Jade retorted with irritation.

“I was shortsighted before, but now I truly value your abilities. The moment a good opportunity arises, I think of you,” Lin Shen hurriedly flashed a fatherly smile.

“What good opportunity?” Little Jade was skeptical, not believing that Lin Shen could really have anything good in mind for him.

Surely Fei Zai and Death Powder were his true favorites; it was never his turn.

Lin Shen pointed at the figure of Duo lying in the distance: “See that guy’s body over there? He’s got tons of great stuff on him; any single item could easily upgrade you to Immortal.”

Little Jade extended his head out, glanced outside, and then retracted it: “Not going.”

“What do you mean ‘not going’? You haven’t even heard everything; why are you deciding not to go?” Lin Shen was frustrated.

“If there was really such a good opportunity, you would’ve gone to collect it yourself already; would you even think of me? There’s definitely danger over there.” Little Jade bluntly exposed Lin Shen’s reasoning.

“Have you never heard the old saying? The higher the risk, the greater the reward. You want the benefits but are reluctant to take the risk–where in the world do you find such good fortune?” Lin Shen scoffed: “Let me tell you the truth, that’s a high-ranking figure from the Celestial Court, now severely injured with an uncertain fate, lying there without a sound for half a day. He must have unimaginably good stuff on him. All I’m asking is for you to check whether he’s dead or not, and bring back whatever’s on him. If you do it, I’ll remember your contribution, and you can take whatever you want. If you refuse, I’ll find someone else to retrieve the items, and then you’ll have no share.”

Hearing Lin Shen’s words, Little Jade’s face showed indecision; he had surveyed the area as Lin Shen had and hadn’t spotted any issues.

“Is that really someone from the Celestial Court?” Little Jade hesitated.
