Chapter 91: 91. Wenping, Huaikong fraudster?
Even though it was just two glances, it still made Mo Yue’s gaze shift, following to look at Wenping too.
Mo Yue didn’t have time to think much and asked in a weak voice, “What do you mean by that?”
“Senior Mo Yue, may I stand up to speak?”
“Please stand.”
Li Kongshan then stood up and waved his hand at the people behind him. Immediately, someone brought a wooden tray, with a porcelain bowl on it. The bearer walked forward cautiously, fearing even a drop would spill.
Li Kongshan continued, “Senior Mo Yue, this is Qi Revitalizing Soup; it can restore your Essence Qi.”
“Bring it over!”
“Go ahead.” Upon hearing Mo Yue’s words, Li Kongshan immediately instructed the nearby servant. The servant quickly stepped forward, dropping to one knee, squatting beside Mo Yue, waiting for Mo Yue to pick up the porcelain bowl from the tray.
Watching this scene, Huaikong and Yang Zongxian both felt something was amiss, though they couldn’t quite pinpoint it. But he knew that Li Kongshan showing up at this time was surely not friendly.
Huaikong couldn’t resist moving forward, whispering in Wenping’s ear, “Sect Leader Wen, aren’t you going to stop it?”
“Why should I stop it? Let him drink.”
Huaikong was stunned, recalling the scene of obtaining Qi Revitalizing Soup at the Immortal Sect, and was rather puzzled when looking at Wenping. Isn’t Wenping someone who doesn’t allow his patients to drink anything from others?
Why does he allow Li Kongshan to do so today?
Unable to comprehend, he glanced again at Wenping’s eyes, seeing Wenping still calmly looking ahead with a smile, feeling somewhat confused.
Yet, even though he didn’t understand, seeing Wenping maintain his smile, Huaikong stayed silent, standing aside and quietly observing. Waiting for the next events, ready to adapt to any situation.
Meanwhile, after Mo Yue drank the Qi Revitalizing Soup in two gulps, under the eyes of Mo Lin and everyone else, his complexion improved somewhat, at least the fatigue that might have easily closed his eyes was now alleviated.
With some regained strength, Mo Yue uncovered the blanket, his gaze fell on the Grandmaster’s Chair in the room and then said to Mo Lin, “Help me over.”
“Hmm.”
Mo Lin nodded, instinctively glanced at Li Kongshan, desiring to reach out the thoughts within Li Kongshan’s eyes.
However, there was nothing additional in Li Kongshan’s eyes, besides that reverence towards Mo Yue.
After settling down, Mo Yue looked at Li Kongshan coldly, then asked, “Can you speak now?”
Li Kongshan nodded.
“Reporting to the senior, today I want to talk about the filthy plan of Demon Chef Huaikong and Immortal Sect’s Sect Leader Wenping. They intend to toy with Master Mo Yue in their hands, by utilizing our Hundred Sects Alliance as false authority; as a junior, I can’t bear witnessing this, hence rushing in boldly.”
Upon these words, Yang Zongxian angrily retorted, “Rubbish, Li Kongshan, you shouldn’t slander!”
Mo Yue glared angrily at Yang Zongxian, his eyes filled with killing intent, startling Yang Zongxian to retreat a few steps back, stabilized only when supported by Huaikong.
Seeing this, Li Kongshan’s mouth curved upwards, a fleeting smile while lowering his head, then he lifted his head to continue speaking, “I slander? I’d like to ask Clan Leader Yang, how a child yet not of the crowning age could dare to demand ten thousand Gold from the Mo Family!”
“That’s my fee for saving a dying person.”
Wenping’s voice came.
Li Kongshan turned his head, as if oblivious to Wenping’s words, and continued, “He dares to demand because this ten thousand Gold is actually a conspiracy, a thorough conspiracy.”
“Go on.”
Mo Yue’s eyes flashed and he raised his hand to silence everyone, allowing only Li Kongshan to speak.
Li Kongshan nodded and then said, “Actually Senior Mo Yue, your injury can be healed by Huaikong, but he said otherwise and intentionally exaggerated Immortal Sect’s Wenping’s ability, saying he was even inferior to Wenping, Wenping comparable to Su Li. The aim was to make Chairman Mo Lin fork out ten thousand Gold.”
Mo Yue did not get angry but was very intrigued by Li Kongshan’s words, “What makes you say that?”
“Because Wenping doesn’t understand medicine at all nor the way of Spiritual Cuisine. Senior Mo Yue, you may not know, Wenping is merely an unskilled disgrace; all of Cangwu City knows his character–spending seven out of ten days idling with the offspring of its wealthy merchants.”
Speaking, Li Kongshan pointed to the stewards behind him and continued, “Not only them, the adults merely need to ask one random person on the street to know about Wenping’s past character. How could someone like him understand medicine, the way of Spiritual Cuisine? Both require a substantial amount of time, and at his age, he can’t even reach Entry Level, let alone surpass Huaikong, comparable to Su Li’s level.”
Mo Yue frowned immediately and slapped the Grandmaster’s Chair, his gaze locked onto Wenping and Huaikong.
“What do you have to say?”
Wenping smiled lightly and said breezily, “Steward Li’s words are quite right, I indeed liked to play in the past; I had quite many friends in Cangwu City.”
As the words fell, the faces of the people in the room changed accordingly.
“So it was indeed a scam.”
“I never thought Huaikong would join hands with Wenping to do such a thing, truly unexpected.”
Some began to murmur understandingly, claiming they had seen through it from the start.
Overall, most people in the room believed Li Kongshan’s words.
Mo Yue glanced around; the porcelain cup in his hand shattered with a sound, tea dripping from his palm onto the front of the Grandmaster’s Chair.
“You are upfront!”
Mo Yue shouted angrily; despite being wounded, the pressure from the Profound Realm still came crashing.
The faces of those around changed; Huaikong, sensing trouble, quickly explained, “Senior Mo Yue, please calm down; my character is known by the people of East Lake. How could I conspire with someone to deceive you for ten thousand Gold?”
Saying this, Huaikong’s face looked somewhat grim while looking at Wenping.
At that moment, Wenping remained in place unwavering, seemingly unperturbed by the events before him.
He truly couldn’t comprehend why Wenping would say this, having the ability to create Spiritual Cuisine yet claiming to be unskilled. Isn’t this shoving himself and Huaikong into the fire pit?
Just as he wanted to continue defending himself, Wenping’s hand patted on his shoulder, smilingly looking at him.
Huaikong comprehended suddenly; he immediately closed his mouth and obediently retreated beside Yang Zongxian, without further explanation. But his behavior, in Mo Yue’s view, seemed to reflect having nothing more to say.
“How ridiculous, I actually believed a young brat; Mo Lin, drag this brat out and chop him up, as well as that Immortal Sect, they are no longer part of Hundred Sects Alliance, might as well destroy it. Calf unafraid of tiger, daring to deceive me, let him pay a price he will regret for the rest of his life!”
Mo Yue’s cold voice echoed.
