Xiang Tao glanced at the caller ID, recognizing it as an internal group number, and hesitated for a moment.

“Give it to me.”

Xiang Hai spoke up again, “These past few days many must have been trying to reach me; I need to deal with those major orders. The overseas contracts are particularly critical–hand it over quickly.”

Unable to refuse, Xiang Tao promptly handed the phone to Xiang Hai.

Xiang Hai took the call.

On the other end of the line was a deputy manager from the marketing department, normally inconspicuous, but involved in several of Xiang Group’s big deals.

“President Xiang, are you really selling the company? Us old-timers are counting on you for our livelihoods.”

Xiang Hai’s brows furrowed deeply as he asked, “What do you mean?”

“You better check the change in shareholding announcement at the Administration for Industry and Commerce, and the news circulating online. But hearing that it’s you on the phone personally, I trust all that is just rumor! All fake! However, the investors don’t believe it; you must clarify this quickly!”

“President Xiang, we’re waiting for you to return to the company and stabilize the situation!”

After a flurry of words, the deputy manager hung up.

Not bothering with the unusual details, Xiang Hai began searching for the news on his phone.

The phone’s volume was turned up high.

Xiang Mingzhu’s voice echoed in the hospital ward.

“My father is unconscious… unconscious.”

“My father is unconscious…”

Xiang Hai’s face reddened as he continued to check the Administration for Industry and Commerce’s information.

The words “Xie Xubai” glared back at him from the Xiang Group shareholder announcement!

His breathing became erratic!

Xiang Mingzhu, clutching her aching chest, sat on the floor, staring at the expanse of white around her. She was in a daze, unable to comprehend what was happening. Was her father being resuscitated again?

“Family members, please wait outside.”

The nurse asked Xiang Tao and Xiang Mingzhu to leave the sickroom, so their unstable emotions wouldn’t interfere with the treatment.

Xiang Hai’s condition was critical!

The two siblings walked out of the room as if soulless, with Xiang Tao wiping his face, his expression utterly defeated.

Xiang Mingzhu’s tears fell silently, “Big brother, I didn’t mean to upset father. I just felt it was unfair.”

Xiang Tao spoke in a heavy tone, “You better pray for father to be okay, otherwise our entire Xiang Family is doomed! Xie Xubai becoming the second largest shareholder of Xiang Group, and the news outside all about that line of father being unconscious. If he doesn’t step in, our Xiang Family will continue to falter… until we’re devoured by those people.”
