Xie Xubai’s peripheral vision caught a glimpse of her pale neck and the faint scent of fruity perfume lingering on the tip of her nose, lively yet fresh.

Mixed with the smell of champagne too, it seemed she had indulged in some alcohol.

But Xie Xubai’s eyes were calm with no ripple of emotion as he gently shielded Huo Sijiao and said, “Miss Pei, we cannot even be considered ordinary friends, please be careful with your words. Everyone in the Imperial Capital knows about my, Xie Xubai’s, character, as well as the Xie Family’s household rules and discipline. I have no relations with you, and will not have any in the future.”

Pei Chun’s heart shattered completely, “I will marry you! I won’t give up on our years of affection, Xubai.”

Xie Xubai, holding Huo Sijiao’s hand, left the place of controversy.

Huo Sijiao felt relieved but also a bit dazed–why did she think that Xie Xubai’s words sounded a bit off? He was so absorbed in his act, it was almost too real!

She was led by Xie Xubai to a secluded, brightly lit corridor outside the banquet hall.
